Did this company steal GAF's logo?

So good.

Good evening.

Today, my fellow Gaffers, our way of life, our very identity came under attack by way of a (possibly) deliberate and vile theft of our cultural heritage. It is not only you and I who are victims, but those who will join us when accounts are next approved.

The .gif of our logo fading into theirs has filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. This act of (possible) highway robbery was intended to frighten our members back into their parents' basements. But it has failed; our members are strong. Our parents have kicked us out.

A great community has been moved to defend a great website. Uninspired minds can (possibly) steal the shape and color of our logo, but they cannot (possibly) steal the shape and color of our hearts. NeoGAF was targeted for attack because they thought we were too busy to notice, and too intelligent to care. They thought wrong.

Our first priority is to get help for those members who have been made upset, and to take every precaution to protect our community from other (possible) thefts which may futher upset us. The functions of our website will continue without interruption. Our site will remain up, our traffic will remain strong, and our boards will remain open for posting.

Immediately following the OP, I implemented our emergency response plans: I slid down a firepole and yelled "GET 'EM!" The search is underway for those who are behind this (possibly) evil act. I've hired a local psychic tell me who is responsible—and to beg them to apologize. Should they not apologize, they will be snuck up on and given noogies. We will make no distinction between the clients who commissioned this logo and the hired hands who created it. Apologies will be had, or noogies, I say.

I appreciate so very much the members of our community who have joined me in harassing the perpetrators of this (possible) theft. And on behalf of all Gaffers, I thank the many world leaders who have not yet called to offer their condolences and assistance. NeoGAF and our friends and allies will join together with all those who wish to see a nerd fight, and we stand together to win the war against (possible) logo ripping-offing.

This is a day when Gaffers of every console bias unite in our resolve for justice and noogies. NeoGAF has stood down enemies before, we will do so again. Our legs may be shaky, but our knees are damn sharp.

Someday, we will forget this ever happened. But today, we go forward—forward, to defend our logo, even though its 'N' looks unconfident and colors are garish and the ball has no form.

Thank you. Good night, and God bless NeoGAF.

Nothing to worry about here really, at least not when it comes to Noction. They have no figurative mark registered via the USPTO, only character marks. Copyright applies of course, but I can not find evidence of the NeoGAF or Noction marks being protected designs, at least not via the previously mentioned USPTO. But maybe Tyler has some records with Danbury Chamber of Commerce or some other registration body, who knows? If anything, you could go via archives in case this company decides to cause problems. Anything since February 2006 ought to be counted as valid.

If I can come with a suggestion, I think the NeoGAF logo should be registered via the USPTO. Not only would it protect against a myriad of things but could help strengthen the "brand" as well. I shall note that I did a thorough search on the matter, but it yieled no results. If I'm all out of sync with actual practice, feel free to let me know.

Posted on page 2 of this thread:
No, the ceo is Grigore Raileanu.

Also, he is none other than the middle man in the picture everyone is shopping.

You guys are all crazy. The NeoGAF logo is as unoriginal as Noction. That style is used everywhere. Old Neowin logo, old NintendoNext logo, I mean... it's not original. And NeoGAF isn't the first and only "company" to use orange and grey in a logo.

Let's sue them to ensure this is true!

BTW If you are going to copy the text of Believe I am recommending Ocean Sans Std - Book Italic. 17pt worked for me.
