I must be dreaming since this is what I've been wanting for years now.

Edit: Just saw that tear inducing video, can't wait for this.

Wow. It feels like so long ago. I remember my friends and I collected those foil Digimon trading cards back when cards were a thing.

*Dances*
Now localize both the 3DS & Vita games please and I will love you forever Bandai Namco. Will buy the new PS3 game too :)

So if Tai is 17 and in the third year of High School, Joe will probably be the only one in College, since he was a grade above him.

I think it will be like this:

Joe - 18
Tai, Matt and Sora - 17
Izzy and Mimi - 16
Yolei - 15
T.K., Davis, Kari, Ken - 14
Cody - 12

Am I the only one who doesn't even really care about the whole Tai/Sora thing?

That along with TK/Kari was mostly just dub invention (as far as the series goes, anyway. Haven't watched JP Our War Game)

Edit: Oh hey, look what I found.

That was more apparent to me when I re-watched the sub. Taichi cared for her as his closest childhood friend only. Maybe the dub made their relationship more serious than it was.

Matt and Sora during the end of 01 were more suitable for each other with the trauma issues and whatnot.

Joe is supposed to be 19 and Yamato is 18 I believe.

lol @ giving up when the best season came out
It made sense at the time, since 15 years ago, I was 14, going on 15, and felt that I was getting too old/cool for kids' shows. That, plus Tamers throwing away all past continuity made it easy for me to just drop the series.

Also, it bugs me to this day that Deimon never got dealt with. I thought they were saving him for season 3, so I was even more pissed when Tamers was something else entirely.

So I guess the other ending doesn't count anymore? Either way I'm so excited for this!!!Last time I watched Digimon was the one with the kids turning into Digimon.

Got teary-eyed at work over this...mai childhood.

Can't wait to see actual footage (hope Davis/Yolei/Cody are dead in a ditch somewhere though).

I also think the whole Taich/Sora thing was dub only.

the dub definetly made the tai sora thing more apparent, but even in the jp version, tai and sora have far more chemistry between them than anything with yamato and sora. And i really dont care if it was planned(having the writers later have to justify the yamato/sora thing, saying it was planned, and that it was subtle, i call bull on that)

and when you have fans for the most part thinking tai/sora make a better couple, when you have even the japanese and english voice actors thinking tai/sora was endgame, then they failed royally.

Another thing that i hated was yamato(matt), i liked him in season 1, but in season 2 they turnd him into this shoujo manga love interest dude where hes this perfect, popular guy, with a rock band, that turns into the first astronaut on mars when he gets older, oh and he gets the girl, WTF, thats too much.

now speaking on this new show, i do wish they take things differently, present it as an alternate universe, based on the first season characters, digimon after the godawful season 2 and its ending was pratically different universes with different characters, at least thats what it felt like to me.

I can't cope with all these good feels.
Guess it'll be Taichi + entirely new characters, though? With previous members popping in as cameos. And will Agumon retain the same transformations as before? Or go entirely a new route?

Like others have said, hope Toei actually try to create a solid story with this, and not simply let their writers off the leash to crap all over it.

I cant believe this...omg this is fantastic news...I just need Reboot to make an appearence again...and maybe a ture sequel to Beast Wars as well.

I dunno though...I totally get why some people would want Tai/Sora to be final, but thinking back over 01, it's not really THAT heavily implied (The only incident I can think of that's remotely steered towards that direction was when Datamon kidnapped Sora). I think it's true that there were more incidents of foreshadowing for a Matt/Sora result.

What really screwed everything up was Our War Game, where it was flat out implied that Tai/Sora were attempting to be in a relationship (Even though Izzy labels them as "really good friends"). With the show writers admitting they had little to do with Our War Game though, that makes a lot of sense why it would be there.

It still works though; Tai/Sora's relationship in Our War Game came across as really rocky. It'd make sense for Sora to go towards Matt after that (Even though I could never really stomach angsty Matt).

Oh my god, I just clicked this thread by accident, but now I am in full nostalgia mode. Back in the days, Digimon S01 was so insanely great, my brother and me almost got insane in the one episode were they fought Venomyotismon and Argumon digitated to Wargraymon.

Such a great series, to bad that there is nowhere a german dubb on DVD or Blu-Ray to buy :(

Coincidentally we were discussing the Digimon anime in the Anime OT recently and I quoted an older comment of mine in regards to the soundtrack. Think I should do it here as well for additional hype.

Dude, dont do this, I am dying of Nostalgia here :D

Just a thought: since this is going to be when Taichi is 17, the whole series would have to be placed in 2003-2004, right? Will they really do that faithfully or will they try to insert recent elements (like, I don't know...mobile devices XD)? And how? Something like "Now that everyone in the world can have a Digimon, and the worlds are more connected, technology progressed far quickier than what would have happened normally, and then..." explaining everything?

While I definitely think Tamers is the better season between it and Adventure 01, I definitely have more nostalgia for 01 and am beyond hyped for this. The fact that I never really expected to see another continuation of this means I won't be super disappointed if it turns out being not that great.

Is it time for season ranking yet?

3 > 1 > 6 > 4 = 5 > 7 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2

Season 7 (or 6.5? Can't remember if it's considered a standalone season or not) had soooooo much potential but they went full on monster of the week and it ended up being pointless. Pretty sure the only reason it existed was so they could do that ending with all of the MC's.

Sora was Taichi's closest friend out of the group from the outset, so it made sense for them to have such a chemistry. They were started to get out of touch towards the end, where probably Koushiro ended up the closest to Taichi as a friend.

Tamers isn't the best season though.

Tamers and Adventure 01 are debatable for best season. Savers might have been in that debate if Kurata didn't take up so much of the show.

Series Rank? Ok:

01 (barely wins over tamers because of nostalgia) > 03 >> 04 > 05 >> 02.

sure but we're talking about sora, taichi, yamato, and in seasons 1 and 2, as well as the movie(even though the writers werent really involved with it, but shows the perception people had of the characters), shows it had far more moments and interactions between tai and sora than yamato, so everything really came out of left field

YES! I've been waiting for Digimon Adventure 03 for SO FUCKING LONG.

Thank you anime Gods. Sailor Moon and Digimon. My childhood is catching up to me.

Movie aside, moments like Yamato's/Sora's reaction to Hikari being kidnapped, and how both of them ended up trapped in the dark cave, made me think they are troubled individuals suitable for each other. Towards the ending, Sora viewed Taichi only as a leader, and couldn't predict his thoughts anymore.

If you base it on the beginning of the series, I would have agreed with Taichi/Sora pairing. But as they both grew up and matured, it became clear that they were unfitting for each other. Plus Yamato is supposedly better looking than Taichi and more popular with girls, so there is that.

i just dont agree with that, i think they would be great together, thats one of the reasons people have a better affinity for the pairing, also the perfect guy, popular thing going on with him in part 2 is also one of the issues i had with yamatos character, i liked him in part 1, he did pratically nothing and got everything in part 2

You hit 01 for nostalgia, and still think 03 is that good? Ok.

Tai will be back, except...

*Agumon will get lameass digivolutions ala Pegasusmon
*He gets with Mimi and not Sora
I'm okay with Mimi
*He doesn't bitchslap Davis and steal his goggles back

I want the Sora x Matt thing to be left untouched. What I want is someone new for Tai and to keep Matt and Sora away from this or at least some cameos but that is it.
