I've re-watched the first ten episodes of Tamers, and so far I wouldn't place it over the original or even Adventure 02 so far.

On the otherhand, Guilmon has the same voice actor as Goku.

Takato should have told Guimon to keep screaming, would have transformed through that.

Although, I only remember Veemon being able to become Super Saiyan.

I mean, he even had to fight a Digimon who was composed out of previous heroes/villains alala Cell.
 
And Gravimon is sadistic.

Also he is Trowa from Gundam Wing. Kinda like how Dorbickmon was Kyoji from Gundam G, Zamielmon was Judau from Gundam ZZ and Splashmon was Heero from Gundam Wing.

I watched Digimon (original) & Digimon (Tamers) over the summer.

While I greatly enjoyed Digimon, Tamers had me enthralled the whole way through. Its actually a damn good anime on its own, and its aged pretty well. Even the english dub is decent due to low amount of censors / edits in comparison to the other digimon seasons.

Hell, the fandom calls the Seven Death Generals as Seven Gundam Generals because of the VAs. Also I hope you're loving the Death Generals. I guess you already met Olegmon (total bro and his episode is so sweet towards Ballistamon).

Was the giant floating snake thing that BlackWaryGreymon summoned supposed to be the God of DigitalWorld?

If so, BlackWarGreymon literally summoned God and asked him what the meaning of life is.

God in the digiworld aludes me really. We can assume and its been hinted that's its a person or persons with a sweet network setup haha.

Man xros wars has had a lot of heaven and falling from grace religion themes in it. It beat frontier in that regard if you ask me.

Finished 02 after having not seen it since Fox originally aired it. Did they run all the episodes here? I feel like I missed a lot during the middle. But it's probably just because I was sleeping in or out with friends. Season 1 is definitely superior, but it wasn't bad. I had forgot that
Miyako and Ken ended up together. Also, was there anything "official" ever said about T.K./Kari in future shows/movies? They were more separated in the epilogue than the other couples though.

Was thinking about checking out some of the future seasons, but without the nostalgia aspect I don't know if I'd be able to do it.

I rewatched S2 during Winter Break, and I think it an underrated series.

Magnamon Vs Chimermon was one hell of a fight.
 
I've been rewatching season 02 also. I used to wake up early on saturday mornings when I was in high school to watch this series obsessively...total nostalgia. :)

I recently rewatched the episode where Ken first creates Chimaeramon, and I LOVE that scene where T.K. sneaks into Ken's base and beats the crap out of him after Ken absorbs Devimon for Chimaeramon's creation. "Let me ask you something Ichijogi don't you think it's about time you gave up this little charade? It's getting old." Haha love it.

I remember being super pissed though that Sora does end being with Matt at the end of 02...ugh. It should have been Sora and Tai, despite their problems. >:(
 
The problem with 02 is its plot, new characters, and the world tour shit. While I don't like Young Hunters because it has 02's problems, at least the pacing was better.

With that said, latest episode.

Ehh, well I still like S2 a lot. S1 is my favourite though.

Then again, I'm the one who thinks that Tamers isn't all that. So maybe I'm in the minority when it comes to Digimon.

Tamers has some AWESOME promos on Fox though

If you guys have a 360 the Xbox has a new app called Crackle which you can watch some free tv shows and movies with a gold account and they have episodes of Digimon Tamers looks like seasons 1 and 2. They are in Japanese but have the english subtitles.
 
Ok guys my Xros Wars part 1 review will be posted later, I finished watching awhile ago. I just wanted to gather my thoughts before sharing so pleas look forward to it please. I just left work & need to get through class tonight.
 
Watching Leomons debut episode in Tamers made me realize.

Jackie Chan Adventures and Digimon both fought the Chinese Zodiac in Season 3.
 
So Xros Wars par t 1 -54 episodes

If I had to sum everything I'm about to write in a short phrase, less is definitely more.

This is Shoutmon, he's not afraid to fight your ass even if you're a skyscraper tall giant.

Gone is the big team of kids and now you have a focus of 3. This made for a better focus on them are major players in the show and you get much better sense of their growth and gravity. I find Taiki a better lead than previous seasons because there was more to make him more than 1 dimensional for example. I would go into specifics but there were a good number of episodes that had him question certain actions with a good resolve on his part that didn't feel rushed. The same could be applied to the others as well.


Most importantly are the digimon and the roles they played in this series. This go around you forget all that champion, ultimate, and mega level stuff because digicross is now introduced. The series in this sense is able to provide a new outlook on their interactions as well as not confine themselves to their own series constraints. What does this choice result in? To be honest some damn good action and feel good fights. Granted this is a kids show and that does carry the spirit of mecha coming together(which made alot of sense!) but man I'd be lying about those fights not being sweet to watch. Also gone is the 1 partner per kid, now we have generals with armies of digimon available to them. That's way more arse kicking than before trust me.

Xros Wars also has this flair to it that works so well because every episode you get why you're still watching, this is digimon done right. Very few if hardly any lack luster episodes, very focused characters with little disappointments, and man will you loathe villains, and maybe feel for some.

Xros Wars part is definitely up there to me in my list now. I'm in the camp of saying it's better than S1 but that's only following the bar S1 set. Before watching S3 was my favorite. Shout out to shoutmon & Taiki hotbloodness. Also of major note; alot of powerhouse Japanese voice actors made this an experience.

Out of 54 episodes I'd say I have 7 personal favorites. Best part is that this series stands on it's own you wouldn't need to watch the other series for familiarity or reference sake. Why? This is a show that was made in case the above didn't apply to you, you're coming for something fresh & new.
 
And that's why sadly Young Hunters is feeling... lacking. It doesn't live up to its predecessor.

Glad you like it. Shoutmon also is my favorite protagonist Digimon.
 
My lil bro was watching the new series on TV yesterday and I decided to watch it too. There was this tall blonde guy and a grim reaper type digimon. He kept playing memories of how his mother died to torture him, giving him a chance to change it and then taking his power. I thought that was kind of.........sick lol. Has the series always been like this? I can't remember.

This has got me interested in rewatching the first 2 seasons.

That's Savers/Data Squad. It's a great series, but the dub is laughably bad.
 
 
I've been re-watching what has aired of Young Hunters so far and I still think it has a ton of potential to be awesome. The only problem I have with it so far is how a lot of it seems to be filler-y. I don't think I have as much of a problem with this as a lot of people do since I know they are developing Tagiru as a character, (cause you can't just throw in a new character into a group of other well known characters and be on your way) but at this point it is kind of starting to drag a bit.

I really like all of the characters though, design-wise and personality-wise. The art style is hands down my favorite of all of the seasons.

Is it known if this is going to be another smaller arc like the 2 in Xros Wars, (~30 episode I believe) or closer to a full season like 1-5 (~50 episodes)?

It says Young Hunters will run up to the anniversary of Digimon.

And yeah, it's very fillery. Which is really why it's a stepdown from Xros Wars.

Well Young Hunters is a different arc vs Xros Wars.

Speaking of which, you should continue. Death Generals has a slow start up but it picks it up really quick.

Oh yes! Man when I was watching that young hunters ep with Nene and she sung the Death General song I was like damn...I really liked that song.

I think my favorite young hunters ep so far is the one with flawizardmon(sp?) due to the ample amount of hotbloodness.
 
Disney killed RPM, they kill everything :(

Though their handling is far much better than modern Saban.
