You know you're the best Digimon when friggin Omegamon/Omnimon hangs out with you

So is this new series good? I really loved Tamers, but that was about it.

But I really loved Tamers, and I don't really get into anime/this type of genre very often.

WTF DIGIMON

Apparently in this ep SuperStarmon took their essence and turned them into trophies!

Do you like super robot shows?

It seems, from the preview, that Nene learned from Mervamon something about the development of certain body parts.

My problem with her reviews is just... well... preaching to the choir and repeating what everyone said. With all that given, I'm waiting for her reviews in 4 (Frontier) onwards, since that's where opinions start to divide.

It's always interesting to me to listen to other people talk about stuff indepth - it just takes too long sometimes (like this and that other thing from Linkara).

I'm keeping an eye out for a good price for Dawn/Dusk, too. Anyone still have this game? Can't you trade Digimon online or something?

I just bought it used a few days ago actually. I had played it previously a few years back and it's addictive as hell.

Awesome. There's some Digimon that you can only get through eggs, which can only be gotten via multiplayer/Wi-Fi, so I might need your help later.

I liked the simplicity of Tamers and the way their final evolutions represented a lot of the themes of the series and the growth of each character through the respective episodes.

What do you mean more developed?

Character development, and well, new characterization. For instance, Taiki isn't a dumbass like your typical gogglehead, and he develops slowly and subtly. Shoutmon however is pretty much characterized thoroughly, especially throughout the show. You can pretty much assume that he is the main character and Taiki is just his accessory. Lots of Digimon develop characters too, as opposed to the humans.

Whoever posted the Jess-whatever videos from TGWTG, thank you very much. I really enjoyed her retrospective on S1 and S2 and looking forward to her further analysis of S3.

I think she said that Digimon was the best kids anime aside from some exceptions here and there or something like that, but I think that honor belongs to Zoids: Chaotic Century. Digimon would come in a very close second.

♥ Moonbay

Zoids is a kind of sad story. The franchise still exists in Japan in a very limited capacity (Takara Tomy doesn't even make the kits anymore, but licenses them out), and the last show, Genesis, was licensed and dubbed but never was seen in the West.

Been rewatching season 1 for a nostalgia blast partly thanks to this thread. Forgot how good ep. 21 was. Loved the style. Too bad the whole series wasn't done like it.

It was all fun and all but that episode gave me what I really, really hate in anime.

Dead. Emotionless. Expressiveless. Eyes.

So, I've been wanting to watch/buy the original first season of Digimon, but I've noticed it doesn't exist anywhere, outside of some vhs tapes.

What exactly is the story on the license for the show? I assume 4kids must still hold the rights to it, as it isn't even on hulu like season 2 and 3 are. What are the chances of it ever seeing a proper release, be it physical or digital distribution?

Saban licensed the Digimon anime prior to Season 4. Saban was bought out by Disney. Disney renamed the Saban team "BVS Entertainment" and they handled the dub of Season 4, Power Rangers, and a few other things. Disney rarely releases television series on DVD, especially ones they don't fully own.

Luckily, we've reached a point where the licenses on those shows should be lapsing, and reverting back to Toei.

Has anyone posted JesuOtaku's Digimon reviews? She's going through every season in depth, both plot and characters. It's really, really good. On par with Linkara's History of Power Rangers stuff. She does analyze the American versions, but does bring up some of the things that were cut.

Digimon Adventure (Season 1)

Digimon Zero Two (Season 2) Part One
Digimon Zero Two (Season 2) Part Two

Digimon Tamers (Season 3) Part One
Digimon Tamers (Season 3) Part One (Cont.)
Digimon Tamers Part One: Things Get Ugly
Tamers Part One: And So it Ends

Excellent! Mwahahahaha!

But I don't think Digimon were ever released in home video in US right?
There are some VHS copies of a couple of episodes. I don't know if they're even in order or not.
At least, that's all I came across when looking for the series. That and bootleg copies. : \

I still stand by on JO's digimon retrospect - it's preaching to the choir. Nothing new to say and nothing different in the assessment.

With that said, I can't wait for the retrospect for season 4 onwards - seasons past 3 have divisive opinions (but mostly because nostalgic Digimon fans are stupid).

Yeah I never really watched Season 3 although I knew it involved digimon in the real world and was a reboot, so the discussion of this season is really interesting.

I liked Season 3, but I was kinda amazed at just how dark it got. Watching the whole D-Reaper saga the 1st time, I was kinda amazed how crazy/creepy it was getting.
Gives off a Evangelion-type of vibe.

I've heard it was good, but I really disliked Season 2 and didn't give Season 3 a shot. I saw a few later episodes of season 3 and thought it actually looked really good, but I didn't want to start watching it until I got a chance to pick up at the start. Eventually I forgot about it.

But I don't think Digimon were ever released in home video in US right?

Not fully, but there were plenty of incomplete releases. Well Go USA released half of Data Squad on DVD, and Fox released the first 13 episodes of Adventure on DVD way back in the day. There's of course a bunch of VHS releases, and the movie which saw both VHS/DVD releases.

Nene is too strong.
She's the Hatsune Miku of Digimon...with some Chun Li in her.
Too strong.
