That's pretty surprising, thought you would have watched all of 'em back-to-front.

I've seen that first one (w/ young Tai and Kari), Our War Game, Hurricane Touchdown, Diaboromon, and that short one for Savers. I've started on X-Evolution and Runaway Locomon, but haven't finished them. Haven't seen the Tamers one, or the other Frontier one.

No, you're confusing the "third part" of Digimon the Movie with another film they did with the 2nd series cast. In the second one, where Diaboromon returns, there's even Ken, and it's after the events of 02.
 
Not pretty interested in the movies anyway.

I really want to like the Savers one (the one where the mons are left without their partners) but it felt shoddy.

Just got to the part where Matt and Tai got their Mega Digimon

Edit: Was Mimi being a valley girl just a dub thing or was it ike that in the original version as well?
 
My favorite movie was that one Tamers one where they went to that island and fought Mephistomon.

Such a cool setting.

Yeah loled at the pentagram. I mean you can only do so much with "magic circle". Also the whole devil seducing me backdrop? Although past seasons have tip toed around that with clever dialogue change
 
How are they gonna get past this one though? I mean, Dark Ocean can be easily censored/worked around but this one is blatant demon worship.

I don't see it brah, this would be an easy throw away ep for the us market. The pitch forks on screen for well over 5 mins is what literally sticks a fork in it too.

I think WG & MG's fight was probably more fan fueled than anything. As you said, it didn't make a lick of sense. Sure we got to see something but the reasoning was bs. Matt & he's insecurities about friendship & himself. Hey why did his crest work if that was the case?

Anyway WG & MG is a stalemate to me based on their respective strengths and weaknesses.
 
Honestly Masaru vs Touma and Taiki vs Kiriha or Taiki vs Nene made more sense.

Also Shoutmon's awesome in that aspect.

Naw, but just the gist. Shoutmon was ready to go towards Kiriha for being a dick, not Greymon, but then Greymon's like "he's my general so I follow him" so Shoutmon's like "well it's your fault that your ass gets handed to you, not mine."
 
My favourite is actually Tai, Which DigiDestined do you think is the most useless? I probably would go with Mimi

Piedmon is my favourite villain, just watched the episodes where they fight him.

Same, Myotismon is my favourite too. I'm glad they brought him back in Season 2. Much love for Beelzemon too.

Wait, I'm on the final episode of Season 1 and still haven't seen Omnimon. Or was he just in the movie? It's weird because I didn't see the movie as a kid yet I can remember Omnimon.

Going to re-visit S3 starting Monday. Haven't seen that series in literally a decade.

Omnimon seen in the movies, then season 4 as an antagonists & xros wars 1 as a friend.

Omnimon confuses me because he's the merge/jogress/dna of two megas' already, shouldn't be super mega?

I've always thought levels are a bit iffy when it comes to certain mons.

Like UltimateChaosmon for example; it's an unholy fusion of BantyoLeomon, Darkdramon, Valdurmon, and Sleipmon.
You'd think it'd be Super Ultimate given its massive power (4x Very Powerful Megas + Unstable BS) and the fact it can obliterate lesser mons just by being nearby. (Funny enough, it's basically Chaosmon with stupidly large arms.) But it's simply Mega.

I don't think the games have even really classified Super Ultimate anyhow. I know in Lost Evoultion, the final evolution path was noted as Ultimate 2 (or Mega 2), but a lot of that was mostly form changes or for stupidly powerful mons (like the Four Sovereigns).

So yeah...

My friend and I want to track down seasons 1 and 2 for a nice trip down nostalgia (awesome) lane. I don't think they've really been released in any kind of box set over here, have they?

If not, does that mean I'm looking at an import? Bluray would be preferred..but DVD is better than nothing.

Preferably, I'd like it to have the english dub..since we grew up with those voice actors.

Seeing this thread makes me so happy. Digimon was my childhood. The first three series were so good. I don't think there is a cooler Digimon than Beelzemon.
 
Been playing through DW1 recently—first time I ever got an Ultimate digivolve, and it was glorious. I've never gone from that low-tier Meramon poop-deck scum to frakkin' Andromon before, and it's a shame I only got him to Factorial Town a couple days before he died (although his new moves ripped shit to shreds). I desperately want Re:Digitized to get localized or translated in some shape or form.

Game's great for its age, with plenty of non-lineraity in the "plot", cool digivolution paths, a battle system with plenty of potential (I've been thinking about adapting it for Pokemon, without the button spam and lag in command reciprocation!), and decent presentation. I even have the soundtrack, which is a piece of game music history in itself.
 
Really, the only thing the game needs is fixing some instances (you are forever trapped fighting a boss if you made a mistake of talking to Jijimon at some point), being a bit more lenient (slightly longer lifespan and training doesn't take a whole day), and a guide (how to get certain mons).
 
It's definitely from a less-lenient era of gaming, but I can appreciate it for what it succeeds at most: giving players plenty of choice with how to customize their journey. Not having really long lifespans is also beneficial, giving every one of your Digimon greater emotional gravity when they die, and the focus is thus placed more on your experiences as a tamer than in cultivating the ultimate powerhouse (though I'm glad moves carry over, and that's enough for me). Training's fine if you stockpile chips and get the Training Manual—even then, though, my Meramon somehow became Andromon, and that came down to frequent battling and occasional item usage and training.

But the event with (spoiler)
Greymon
wasn't a wise decision on the part of the developers. I got stuck there once—now I get to deal with input lag/lock-up when using PCSX instead of playing on my old system.
 
And it's not just Greymon - it also happens with Airdramon.

And yeah moveset carrying over is good - I think there's even a medal for unlocking all moves.
 
See, Bandai was clever enough to come up with achievements years before 7th gen! Crazy. And, yes, Airdramon can ruin you as well (though I'm not there yet).

The best part about the game, however, is the god-awful translation. It is bonkers bad, and I love that.
 
Depends. The original text was probably written for children, though I think the typography, spacing, and overall translation can be confusing and impulsive to a notable degree. You got any worse examples from the PS1 era?

Anyways: you guys need to get back to discussing everything else. This 'aint Gaming side.
