Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten |OT| - Defend The Prinnies, Define Your Netherworld.

Near the End:
Episode 10 - Level 5
is driving me crazy. Probably have to level up a bit, Valvatorez is 144, but the rest of the team between 70 and 105....

When you lose certain battles like in 2-4, it restarts you from the beginning. Is there any reason to not simply reload your save at that point? Is there an advantage to actually restarting?

Also, I thought it was supposed to award a trophy when you lose these battles, but I just lost the one in 2-4 and did not get a trophy although it did restart me.

I think the game itself keeps a record of if you've gotten the special endings for losing certain battles, but other than that I can't think of any reason to not retry the battle and win it.

I think the benefit is that in the stat thing it will be able to show you which ending you received, where if you reloaded it wouldnt continually track them all.

Also I thought it would be related to the trophies like "Vote for Emizel - Watch Emizel's Epilogue". But when I lost that fight, I didn't get said trophy. If I'm misunderstood the trophy, then how do you actually get it?

I guess it's possible I clicked through it and didn't "watch" it, but I'm pretty certain I didn't skip it.

Edit: Unrelated question, but can anyone explain how Innocents work? I've been through the item world once and cleared all the way to level 10 including the boss, but I still don't quite get it. I was thinking that by beating the boss (I chose to go the Innocent route) and killing Innocents along the way as well as the boss, that it would fill up my weapon with more innocents. It's possible that it actually did that and I just don't know what I'm looking for. All that's immediately visible is that my weapon levelled up to 10.

Also, why do some innocents have a smiley face next to them while some have a red demon face next to them (when looking at a weapon's stats).

The epilogue trophies are gotten when you beat the game.

Innocents give your item special properties they wouldn't usually have. All items naturally have at least one of some kind of innocent on them, meaning you'll never find an item without an innocent.

Most innocents start being untamed and appear as red demon faces when you look at them on your item. The exception are the special innocents that have a green laughing face and can't be moved. When you tame a regular innocent, the red face turns into a yellow one to let you know you've tamed it. To tame an innocent you go into item world and kill it. Once you tame it, you can move it to other items. Also, the numerical value of the innocent will double when you tame it.

To tame it, do you just kill it? I went into the item world and got 1 room where it told me there was an innocent in there, but i thought i killed every enemy and the innocent didnt become removeable on my weapon. Is it not a normal enemy?

Yes, you just go into item world and kill it. When an innocent is on an item world floor, there will be a "check" notice before you're given control of your turn. The innocent will also have a yellow hp bar instead of the red ones that enemies usually have. If you killed one, but still weren't able to transfer it, you might have killed a mystery innocent and it turned into a special innocent, the ones with the green laughing faces. You can't move those.

Got a couple more questions:

1) Is there anything limiting the amount of times I can combine innocents on a piece of equipment? It seems that equipment power is ultimately unbounded because I could just take 2 innocents with the same name, combine them, then move over another innocent with the same name, combine again, and repeat essentially forever. Is there something in place to prevent this or is this actually just a feature?

2) Is there a list of all innocents in the game and their effects? They just say stuff like "Marksman" and "Gladiator", and while I can guess what a lot of them do, it would be nice to just have a concise list.

3) I just finished episode 3 of the story, and when it was over Emizel supposedly joined my party, and additionally it said "You can now create Heavy Knight". But Emizel is not in my Cam-pain HQ or my Support Group, and when creating a new character, I don't see the option to create a character of class Heavy Knight. Anyone know what the deal is here?

4) Does HIT affect a mage's ability to land spells successfully?

1) There's a number cap on certain innocent types, so you can only have for instance 189,999 Gladiators in a piece of gear. Others like Master or Statisticians have a cap at 300.

2) Here's what you are looking for.

3) You may have to continue the story before he is usable, he's in your party story-wise. And you have to pass the bill to create the Heavy Knight. You have to pass bills every time a new character class unlocks.

4) I think its more character level dependent?

Also is there anyone who I can add as a friend who has Scy46's crazy Android(s)? I have to start my new play cycle correct?

I want to say that INT is the only stat that determines if a spell will hit or not, probably in relation to the target's SPD, but I'm not sure. I can't see HIT being important though, as most magic users have crappy HIT. But it's definitely not level dependent.

1. Yes every innocent has a set cap and a effect cap.
2. There is a wonderful list of everything in the game (more or less)
3. Emeziel hasnt officially joined you yet and you need the minimum mana to make the bill appear
4. No. Your INT vs their RES determines if it hits and how much damage it will potentially do.

When I should I start reincarnating? Currently my guys are Lv. 40-60 and stronger classes versions of certain classes have started becoming available. Should I reincarnate each class as soon as the next strongest one becomes available?

When I do reincarnate, should I reincarnate them at the lowest possible rank so that I don't waste mana, since I'm going to be reincarnating them again soon anyway?

Also, just to make sure I understand, if I have, say, a Lv. 50 fighter and I want a warrior, there's absolutely no reason to create a new warrior right? I should instead reincarnate my fighter as a warrior?

If you haven't beaten the game, there's no reason to reincarnate.

The reason you might create a new character instead of reincarnating, is so you can have two fighters instead of just one.

Is it possible to get multiple character-specific epilogue endings at the same time (and hence unlocking all the trophies for that at once)? In other words, can you develop multiple relationships at the same time with the Legendary Tree so that when you beat the final battle, you get multiple endings? Or does the Tree only allow one at a time?

It only allows for 1 at a time and it's on a tiered system so you might have to break off a relationship before getting a different ending. I forget what order it went though, someone else might know.

The default ending is the vulcanus ending; if you haven't met the specific requirements (tree of life) you'll get this one.

Does HIT affect a mage's ability to land spells successfully?

yes, hit = accuracy for all units. By attacking from behind the enemy or to his side, you'll get a better hit percentage. Goes for thiefs as well.

It's probably all the characters at once, so the only thing they have to do is put the keys in the store. As long as it's been, I'd be surprised if they didn't have everything ready to go by now.

Someone that's going through with the patch should check to see if the item world duping still works.

today's patch 1.11 does eliminate rq duping. it also adds the second set of dlc character data without the activation keys which will be released over time.

Well guess I won't be getting dlc anytime soon. Is there anything I should get on duping? I only got some items stacked with statisticians and managers.

Does the patch do anything about how slow the loading is?

Just whatever you think you want a lot of that would otherwise be a pain in the ass to get, like a "perfect" accessory.

I really want to take the most advantage of the dupe trick while I still can, but building the most badass accessories ever is really tiring. I haven't even made a dent in my progress even though I've been doing it for a few hours total now.

Is anyone even still playing this? >_>

Adell got me back to playing, I think the most ill do with the game is try to clear the x dimension stuff, maybe dupe the proper way, and get all epilogues and such. I cant imagine ging for 100%...will hold off to do that with Disgaea 3 Vita.

Fortunately, I had made tons of weapons while the storefront dupe glitch was still active, so my lvl 100 or so characters can do nearly one mln damage.

I wanted to build a really hardcore pirate crew, but the random element to getting my gear is starting to be too much. I'm way past strong enough to do everything else, so that was the only thing really still holding me to the game.

Ugh, I need dual stat innocents for my items, and I need to do a ton of duping before that can happen. No DLC for me for a while.

I have a question:

When I eventually get my R40 weapon, say I get the R40 sword. Say I want to perfect it.

Is the way it works in this game this way?
1) ATK stat will automatically cap out at level 300 without the need to level the sword with gladiator innocents on it
2) You only need to pass one +ATK bill to cap out, which means they are better spent on +move or +range
3) If all you need to cap out your item's stats is built into the item, do I even need dual stat innocents? Don't I only need a 100 Professional, 500 Guardian, and 500 Fencer?
4) if 3 is true, what innocents would go into building an ultimate item?

I took a month or so off while I was playing Dark Souls, just started playing again yesterday to clean up my remaining trophies. There are a LOT of pirate ship parts lol. Played all day and I think I'm still at 40% or so.

For my weapons I used 1 Prof/Guardian/weapon specialist and the rest max Sprinters. Fist was 3 ATK/3 SPD bills, honestly I can't remember exactly what I did with my sword. Traps were all +MOV bills. My stats don't match exactly with the perfect max stats in the Gamefaqs guide or Scy's formula, but it's close enough.

dam, getting rid of duping and i havent started this game yet.. what to do?

Yeah, if it were me I'd stay offline and unpatched at least until you dup some innocents (statisticians preferably). You can easily stay offline and really not miss anything. Completely up to you though.

A bit late on this but:

1, 2) ATK will not cap at Level 300 with just 1 ATK Bill. That's just what you'll need to get you character's ATK stat to 99,999,999 assuming certain other things. Every single bill you pass will adjust the amount of ATK you have (2,100,279, 2,310,276, 2,520,274, 2,730,272, 2,940,270, 3,150,268, 3,360,266 for 0 bills to 6 bills passed). 1 ATK Bill + Level 300 Baal Sword is just your target goal at 300% Aptitudes so you can use the remaining 5 bills freely.

3) Pretty much don't need them for your primary offensive stats, though it is worth noting that they still raise the stats on the item. The actual stat cap on weapons is 99,999,999 I believe. You're just capped at what you can get out of the stats from the Item Leveling process itself.

4) Unique Innocents and then basically everything else. Status and Elemental Resistance, Stat boosters for your other stats, etc.

Also, for those who haven't heard, there's a new glitch with the most recent JP Patch. No point getting hopes up yet on it as there's the possibility it'll get fixed long before we ever get it but it removes the Double Boss Kill limitation. You can now repeat it infinitely, though you're still capped to a 99,999 Adjusted Base Stat so the 7 values I listed above are still your caps. This does mean you can make a Trapezohedron with 2,100,279 for all stats instead of 510,600.

Aw Id rather have the item dup back.

So apparently Priere is on the Store now, even though I thought she wasn't coming until next week.

I almost want to say screw the duping and just get here since she's finally here.

I need to get Mao, just been grinding my four skulls, Emizel, Valvatorez, and Adell to 1000 so I can finally take on extra story missions.

Its so difficult to pass topics (it seems more so than in other games).

You mean pass bills in the senate? It's easy, just kill everyone. Pass all weaker enemy bills and go do Mountain of Ordeals 4. You should be more than powerful enough. Use Chara World to transfer Big Bang over to all your characters, and load them up with maxed Statisticians that you gain via reverse pirating.

It's pretty high, though (~400M). It's actually greater than what you'll get out of non-Magichange equipment.

No.

Anything that could be killed in one hit is not pretty high. In D3 it was supposedly in the billions and there was never a confirmed limit from what I remember. I want that again. I can't do anything with 400M except die when hit.

Between this and certain innocents being almost impossible to find, I really don't have the desire to play anymore.

What innocents are impossible to find? Can't you just not get hit? Is there a specific battle / thing you're having difficulty with?

Damage Cut helps quite a bit.

And I'm familiar with the old cap, or, rather, lack of as I don't think anyone took it to the utmost limit (last I remember was a fellow GameFAQs poster mentioning breaking the 1B mark). At the same time, Disgaea 4 is also pushing higher HP numbers than what D3 saw due to Dual Magichange and 300% Aptitudes. Combined with better Evilities in general and Damage Cut, it's very much possible to just make a flat out indestructible character.

If something can do 500M damage, how would Damage Cut help that? I don't see it. If high hp isn't the answer, I haven't a clue what is.

True, Damage Cut doesn't help at the one-shot phase of things. Though, you can reduce the damage taken through plenty of ways to get there, hence the thought process behind the invincible Fuka. Though I suppose that's a bit limiting in character choice but most of that setup is beyond excessive for just the LoC.

Since you can hit 6B HP in Disgaea 4, Damage Cut does kind of play into not dying from a 500M hit, however. And, contrary to a lot of complaining people do, DEF does actually cut down damage. Especially in the LoC where they don't have 99,999,999 ATK.

Remember, that 399,999,996 HP cap is on the naked HP stat, not fully equipped. Possible HP you can have in Disgaea 4 far exceeds what was reasonable in Disgaea 3 (unless you were planning on using some 200,000+ 19,998 Dieticians).

I've never heard anything about an invincible Fuka. How does she work?

I don't want characters for LoC. I can already kill anything there in one hit, so that doesn't really matter. I want to build some durable pirates. So, things like Magichange for boosts are useless. And yes, I was going to dump tons of serums on people because duping makes that incredibly easy to do.

Fuka has the best innate Defensive Evility so with a Magichange'd Skeletal Dragon and Slime, she cuts damage down even further. Something around 12.5% damage taken on skills just from those three. With ~6B+ HP on top of that, it's pretty much borderline impossible to hurt her via conventional means and the only thing that pierces Damage Cut is the Death's Heal Evility.

Also, Pirates can be set to use Magichange and it's infinite duration there since they're treated as enemies.

Scy, blowing my mind here! I wasn't thinking about the fact that they'd be enemies.

Oh wait, does that mean Monster Fusion is on infinite, too? Is dual wielding still possible? And giant dual magichange? Maybe, maybe there is still some fun to be had.

Also, I've heard that you can delete the patch and restart a cycle to get the duping glitch back? Do you have any confirmation on that?
