Disgaea PC [coming February 2016]

Damn, I had just bought this recently on PSN (Afternoon of Darkness). :P

Well depending on the price I'll have to see if it's worth double dipping.

Just teach healing spells to your sorcerer or main characters using the master/pupil system. :P

I remember leveling Flonne till she learned Holy Arrows without doing any of that. Holy cow that was not fun. Much prefer the new system that gives them exp for using abilities.

I can't believe people are complaining about this being the first game and not whatever number they're at now. This is still the most popular entry in the franchise and most definitely the right one to start with.

I believe fans think that Disgaea 4 has one of the best cast, tied with Disgaea 1, Disgaea 5 has the best gameplay and graphics (obviously). Not sure about Disgaea 2 or 3 where they reside.

While Disgaea is a very self-aware franchise, I felt 3 relied wa-a-a-ay too heavily on school tropes and became outright annoying.

It's already been discussed, but they need to introduce the series to the PC audience, and what better game than the first one, which is considered one of the bests (if not the best) games of the series? It's also gonna be cheap (probably) and can be near impulse buy territory, expanding the fanbase on a platform that doesn't know the series.
Yeah no, they really don't. Also it's NIS we're talking about, they don't understand the concept of "cheap".

If it's more than 10$, I'm out

In before they price it at $19.99.

I think I'd quadrapupilmillion dip if it was $10 but anything higher than $19.99 sounds like a bad idea.

14.99 dollars with a 9.99 dollars price at launch sounds like the fair price imo. And it would definitely break the 100k bar easily at this price imo.
Which would produce pretty great revenue for them.

Well, Afternoon of Darkness is $15.00 on the PS Store

Probably gonna be that, with a discount on release

Ya'll betta purchase dis 10fold if yu want dat Disgaea series on PC! PS4/PC is such a great thing. I have a PS4 for BloodBorne, Uncharted, Until Dawn, and I have PC for well anything I don't want to play on consoles ahahaha.

This is good news, it was obvious it had to happen. It better do well because it is a great game(and I want the rest).

There are units in D1 that have no equivalents in the sequels, so you'd still end up with a mishmash.

yeah, i know, but they can redraw those... I mean after playing the newest disgaeas, the sprites are a big change on visual quality... i mean look at this:

The sprites in disgaea are like 30*50 pixels

But anyway, I already replayed the game a lot to dip again on PC... Updated sprites maybe make me replay it again but a simple port doesnt bring anything new to the table.

Oh god those new sprites. nnnhnhnhnhnghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Great news and all but kinda hoped they went with D4 since that's when it started with HD sprites and D1 is pretty damn old (it's been on bunch of systems) and a bit outdated in it's gameplay compared to it's sequels. Anyways hope it does well enough that it gets to the later sequels.

This will probably be one of the first mods for it if it's simple enough to crack.

You know what? I like the older sprites better.

The new sprites just have so much detail when I play the game, a lot of my friends who aren't familiar with the Disgaea series are amazed by the hand drawn art when I'm playing Disgaea 5 on the big screen. These are COD and Destiny players by the way who have never touched a JRPG before ;_;.

That's cool, I like Disgaea. Kinda wish they'd update the sprites, though. The original game wasn't exactly a looker, even on PS2.

in nippon ichi's fiscal report year ending 2015, they mentioned that they would start supporting steam: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1046782

welp, this is it. it's more than testing the waters too. it's more of an initiative to get the company on steam, so if there are other games that can be ported, they'll surely do it (firefly diary seems like a logical choice bcause it was already listed and everything). they have a pretty good backlog too, with not only disgaea, but others on the ps2 like soul nomad, la pucelle, phantom brave, and makai kingdom. if this is successful enough, i wonder if they'd even localize way older stuff like the latter two marl kingdom games.

Still waiting for Disgaea Mobile

Omg Phantom Brave.

Secret best N1 game.

I like both equally. I just view them as different artstyles and both look great

I've already played Disgaea DS, so I doubt I'll actually replay this, but I'll no doubt buy it eventually to show my support. Hopefully other games gets added, too.

I will not be expecting them to redo the games sprites and the images on the first page look like there's a filter that can probably be disabled. The maps themselves look crisp though. I'd gladly lay down 29.99 for this, but I'm hoping for 15 or 20 because of the game being so old and the sales that will be lost from people who don't care to spend that kind of money on a good game.
