Disney’s “Snow White” Trailer Bombarded With Criticism

AJUMP23

Parody of actual AJUMP23
I actually like it. It's what grown men should be doing BEFORE a woman enters their home... Not wait for a woman to do household chores for them... Because in the OG toon, their home was a mess before she came in.

They all just look like they're smitten with her.
remember she cleaned because she was thanking the dwarves for protecting her and taking her in. She didn't nag these guys into cleaning. IT was her gift to them.

Oh I know. It's just in my old age (I feel young tho) I don't take kindly to grown men who's don't clean up after themselves.

I get what you're saying tho in the OG movie. I don't see anything wrong in this one because she isn't being rude or bossy. She's teaching them how to clean their own home. Even being their ages, the 7 Dwarves have always seemed like children.

I honestly in doubt if you're not right in the head or really think is ok to talk about grown men in a Snow White movie.

They are batchelors. It wasn't food mess and trash she was cleaning up in the fable; it was ammunition, knives left out, the remnants of their mead operation, hand drawn porno mags, the 3 pixies they pinned to the table for sport, and the scraps of their leather working station :p The cartoon had her bring "a traditional womans touch" to their home.

Wait ... What?! But the OG toon movie didn't have ANY of that?

Are you being facetious? This is a joke, right? LoL

Which is a gracious and thoughtful act, especially for a princess, showing that she doesn’t see herself as above it or them, and that she has gratitude. The precise opposite of the new version.

One of the better scenes in the recent HotD season 2 was Daemon choosing to get into the muck with the soldiers to help with the day to day tasks, in between his diplomacy (and the dozens of acid trips). He’s powerful and feared, didn’t have to do it, but it paves the way for trust and respect with his troops, an important moment of character growth.

It’s the people who have an unearned expectation of others to their benefit, who manipulate and use people as pawns, see themselves as better than everyone else, who are literally the classic villain archetype. The narcissistic sociopath.

But seriously, in my copy of Grimma fairy tales, the cottage is immaculate because the dwarves are disciplined. But they make a deal with snow white (after they take turns sleeping doubled up as she sleeps in one of their beds as to not wake her) to do housework in exchange for protection. "Woman's work" to some, but what else is she to do?

Morphing that to the dwarves are slobs to now they are straight incompetent is not that surprising, sadly.

Thats the problem with gen z and some soycucks here. Every move and decision from old films had a reasoning behind. But those people went straight to the social tatics, they probably think she isn't humble yourself and its just a "women do the chores" trope and pretends theres no deep meaning in all this.

It wasn't always about humility. In the precursor to the Grimm version of the story, it's told from the perspective of the noblewoman Richilde. Blanca, the girl who grows up to be more beautiful, lives in a castle attended by maids and dwarves. One of the duties of Richilde's men was to capture dwarves, so they were most likely forced into servitude.

In the more familiar Grimm version, Snow White chances upon the dwarves but she doesn't volunteer to work for them. She tells them she's on the run and they tell her she can stay, but only if she cooks and cleans and sews and knits for them - the duties of a servant. She agrees without hesitation, but she surely knows that if she disagrees she'll be thrown out, and swiftly killed and gutted by her stepmother's henchmen.

Basically the gist of it. It's one thing to take the Snow White story, alter all the germanic trappings and the setting, and then cast what you want. It's another to keep alllllllllll the cultural stuff but then say "hey, diversity!" with the casting. Zeigler isn't the most egregious of casting all things considered but the actress ain't helping things with her attitude. How much "fixing" they've had to do versus some of that early stuff is hard to say but seems like Disney has had to drop quite a bit on this flick and do a looooot of damage control and the overall prospects of this movie seem a little dim but we'll see.
They are keeping the German roots by having the lead actress hate Jews.

My gay brother who is a Disney Vacation Club member at their newest resort ($$$) has no problem recognizing that modern Disney is an absolute dumpster fire.

Some of you are smoking that good stuff.

I doubt this brave, loyal, fearless leader can replace the brake fluid in a 2019 Dodge Charger SRT.
Heh heh, maybe after she sings "whistle while you work" and drives them to clean up they will slap a pickaxe in her hands and throw her down a mine and sing "heigh hoooooooo!" while she chips at rocks till her hands bleed and she narrowly escapes getting crushed in a cave-in.....

At this point the dwarves not even go after the witch as Snow White is in fact the white opressor.

you should not be a slob.... They certainly are in the story. But I can understand not wanting to clean up after working all day.

I think that's what we really ought to be looking at. These hard working men are going out all day in the goddamn mines, and they come home only to find they've got pick up a duster or start washing the floor, just because some woman says the house isn't clean enough. She's just been sitting at home watching Ellen all day too.

Grown ass men debating the merits of fucking Snow White, a movie aimed at little pre teen girls...

Movies are supposed to be judged by grown people as they judge wheter the movie is gonna be good or not for their kids. Same with toys, the comercials are aimed to adults. How long you guys gonna thrown this grown ass man low effort insult? Do you thrown that insult at movie critics as well?

It's a Disney Snow White movie, it's going to do exactly what it says on the tin and as a grown ass man with kids you should know this, there's going to be nothing nefarious in it, well that depends on far your internal political pendulum swings but as far as I'm concerned it's looks exactly how I would imagine it to look

Yeah, it's crazy, the scene showing the men being oppressed into tidying up is practically identical to how I remember the original film. Everyone cleaning up and birds flying around.

There's singing and dancing too, which personally, I don't think is very realistic.

Glad you posted this. From the cultural it's a detailed look at those scenes which show the divine right of kings slowly being dissolved in modern Western stories to enfranchise every individual. Which is a good thing, something that is ongoing and needs to be maintained. One of those underlying things that can be overlooked, but shouldn't by the professional.

The basis of human rights, removing classism, and whatnot. Western civilization.

That isn't to say story elements can't be changed as civilization adapts to the dissolution imo. Going to watch to see if/how that alchemy is taken into consideration and introduced in another way with its domestic concerns, not just for Gal anymore. Wasn't even thinking about it before.

It's fascinating how profound such a simple story for preschoolers can be.

I haven't seen the remake's scene (it's deleted), but in the original it was the forest animals who helped her clean the house before she had even met the dwarves. That's where the 'whistle while you work' song comes from. When the dwarves return, they're baffled by the state of their home.

I'm not sure why Snow White would need to boss around dwarves in this remake. That isn't her personality at all. The closest we get in the original is when she makes the dwarves wash themselves before dinner.

I also saw a video about how Snow White was actually a woman's fantasy back in the 30's. Women had suffered through the great depression, and they dreamt of a man who would whisk them away, provide for them so they could spend their days baking pies. There's newspaper articles from back then that confirm this. It's an angle that is unknown to most.

What a scam. Don't join that time share crap.

Yea, I'm not exactly sure how it works but he's down there all the time.

It really depends on when you bought it, buying in at the beginning was pretty cheap, and whether you buy retail or from a third party. Retail today is absolutely ridiculous, they estimated $35,000 for me to get 150 points. That would only be for a Studio room for one week at the Riviera. You also have the monthly maintenance fees of $110. For a 2 bedroom it would be over 350 points for a week which would cost over $80,000 and the monthly maintenance fees would be close to $250. Buying from someone looking to get out of it is a lot cheaper, but you're still on the hook for the maintenance fees.

Well, as the father of a pre-teen girl, I DO CARE what she sees and the message within it.

Disney USED to be a mouthpiece of pretty broad appeal content with a universal message appropriate for children and tolerable for adults. But they CAN change culture (the Bambi films impact on general perception of hunters, for example) and thus they MUST be watched.

Honestly, it’s a criticism of a plethora of unnecessary retcons and inclusions to existing stories in general to fit the LGBTQ+ agenda that seems to be overtaking every bit of media. Snow White is just one of the many movies and shows that are basically ruined by this. If you want to have it in media, just include it, don’t force it, and make new stories and new characters that fit the agenda instead of changing stories and characters. That’s not art, the art was already made, make new art and don’t ruin stories that have existed for decades.

Whats the point of doing a live action remake of an animated movie if you're just gonna animate half the characters anyway?

Top comment is amazing:

Wait,
How do I see the number of dislikes here?

for some use cases it is worth it. we should have an official thread on Time shares.
Agreed. The DVC units have a kitchen, washer/dryer, and more space. For a week at Disney that can be a godsend. You just gotta be a "every year its DISNEY!" type already and the DVC makes more sense.

Apparently the main actress just tweeted "Free Palestine".

I know the forum has a no politics policy but after everything the movie went through now this also happens, lmao. PR nightmare probably.
It would be AWESOME if Zeigler and Gadot conduct some sort of online feud over Gaza and then resolve it with a mud wrestling match. Get on it Disney PR!
