Disney is laying off 14% of Pixar's workforce

Oh wow, shit, looking at this and then looking back over the years of the big hits, then yeah, stuff like Encanto, Moana, Zootopia and Frozen were done by another studio just known as Disney Animated. It's no wonder Pixar is getting cut down when Disney Animated is eating their lunch.

That they are sooooo similar in style is a BIG part of the problem. Pixar films have no sparkle, all the characters feel very derivative, and they often feel formulaic. I'd argue UP was their last truly great innovative release with COCO being an artistic achievement even if a well worn story. Onward SHOULD have been a smash but they just couldn't stick to a boy's story and the art aesthetic was pretty ugly.

Disney went on a pretty epic run with their non-Pixar CG movies starting with Tangled right as Pixar were floundering. Unfortunately that run is long over and neither Pixar or Disney proper can do much worth a damn anymore.
