Did you live near Disneyland? Or go often? I never went as a kid as we lived pretty far away and couldn't afford it, and I would have lost my shit just like this little girl if my parents could have afforded to take us just once...

I'm confused as to what degree the horrible conditions of modern Disney (or, as I like to call it, EisnerCo) have to do with Disneyland.

If you said something about swampyland in Florida, I might understand -- but this kid is going to Disneyland.

Have you ever been to Disneyland? The real one? In Anaheim?

The kid has already been to Disneyland. This was not joy of conditioning/anticipation, but rather joy of past experience and the chance to engage in it once more.

This is as bad as the folks whining about how Disneyland is fake and blah-de-blah-de-blah -- of COURSE Disneyland is fake. If it weren't fake, it couldn't be real, and Disneyland is -real- in a very specific way.

(Although all those stupid Eisner-isms persist... sigh... and it would be nice to have the real subs back, sans annoying-Nemo-thing...)
 
I never got the chance to go to Disneyland as a child. I was eventually able to go to Disneyland Paris at the age of 17 and I was bored shitless. If only it was a decade earlier :(

DLR versus all of WDW? Not a fair fight. But DL vs MK? Fucking blowout.

DLR's VASTLYOMGWTF better Pirates, better Space, Mr Fucking Toad, Matterhorn, Indy, Star Tours in the main park, Blue Bayou, etc... put it over Magic Kingdom.

MK has a slightly better Splash, but many of the effects are often broken. Beyond that and the Peoplemover, I can't see why anyone would prefer it to Disneyland.

Though DCA provides a "greatest hits" of the entire WDW resort. Screamin' for RnR, Soarin', a more breakdown-resistant ToT, (soon to be) Radiator Springs Racers for Test Track, Grizzly River Run for Kali. DCA doesn't have anything to compare to Everest, but that's about it really.

It's clearly fake! She said the t-shirt said Disney Land when all it said was Disney! The bag with the presents had pepper spray at the bottom so after she pulled everything out it got in her eyes and made her cry. That's why they were in a bag, not wrapped!
 
I was fifteen fucking years old when I first got to go to Disneyland. Screw this little girl and her happy ass face!

Nope, you will do no such thing if you go to Disneyland on weekdays and/or during the fall/winter. Actually perfect time of the year since it's a bit more mild than the summer months.

Spot-on! I went on a ton of family trips, when I was a kid. My parents just really wanted to do everything they could with us, before we grew up, and moved out. At the time, it was really all about the trips and fun. I didn't fully understand the fulfillment my parents got out of it, until later, and I appreciate it all, even more. Years after all the fun as child, I look back on the time I got to enjoy with my family, and I get a whole new mature enjoyment out of the cherished memories and fulfillment from those times.
