The new Pinocchio live-remake is, surprise surprise, a pointless cashgrab

Watched about 45 minutes before going out. It was better than expected. Better than the original. Post-facto.

The negative fixation on one character being considered enough in itself as proof of a bad movie only works on a mind set from a source that needs replacement.

Just watched it.

It was a charming movie. Cynthia Erivo is in ONE scene... She actually sings the wish upon a star song. Beautiful voice!

Y'all are some joyless mofos! I guess it's because it's been decades since I saw the original but I quite enjoyed this!
Actually slightly surprised myself. Possibly the most fun I have had with one of the live action remakes so far. Though to be fair the other ones were just straight garbo.

Solid 6.5/10 for me though.

Continuing along watching the movie this song caught my attention. It keeps to the core intent of recognizing ordeals to overcome being a puppet.

Finished watching:

A wooden donkey would be worth a fortune.
That end of that scene was like Swiss Army Man.

The man had to give up his clocks, the mechanical, to get a boat. A mechanical boy lives more life in one night.

Mechanical boy saves father with intellect and takes over care of everyone.

Feels deep love.

Brave, honest, unselfish.

Show is suitable for very young children. Good lessons in it that are easily unpacked and built from.

Just finished the movie: the black casting is not woke. But you want to know something that is woke and incredibly dumb? Monstro is a goddamn sea monster not a whale in what I can only assume is a nod to avoid cancellation from the radical whalists movement and accusations of Whalephobia. Also PETA?

I swear they're doing the whole "make the totally white, blond haired fairy into a bald black woman" thing with the sole purpose of pissing people off.
It is deliberate. You can attempt to avoid criticism or pass off poor quality by blaming the audience. Just how people who disliked Ghostbusters are apparently all sexist.

It has no logic and is a calculated decision. If race doesn't matter, why not make all characters Korean, Latino, Sri Lankan, Filipino or Scandinavian? If it's about representation, then it is disproportionately skewed. It's a load of bollocks and they profit off this because it is easy clicks and coverage.

It's disrespectful to everyone because they are too lazy to write a new character or story. The irony is lost of them and the supporters.

This was a really weird movie, I was bored for half the run time, it was too long. The Fabiana character is one of the reasons for the extended run time and she was a completely pointless addition.

There are weird changes like Monstro being a Kraken like monster and the coachman working with smoke creatures to kidnap the kids. Weird.

The film made me laugh though when Pinocchio explains his adventure to Gipetto and he's like "YOU DID ALL THAT IN ONE DAY? THATS MORE THAN I'VE DONE IN MY ENTIRE LIFETIME!".

The CGI was all over the place, especially the water during the Monstro scenes.

In all honesty, the original film isn't that much better and can also be boring. I rarely touch my blu ray of the original and I can't see myself rewatching this either.

I liked the Fabiana character... The actress portrayed sweetness and she's absolutely beautiful!

I watched it with my kids Friday and agree on pretty much everything. Fabiana was completely pointless, added nothing to the story. The voice of Jiminy was weird too, at points he sounds just like the original and at others he sounds different. His voice just wasn't consistent. I also didn't like that they never showed Pinocchio turn in to a real boy. I did like the Pleasure Island sequence, best part of the movie. Pinocchio underwater looking for Gipetto was beautiful in the animated movie, the live action missed an opportunity to make a striking scene.

The original is a classic for me, one of Disney's best animated movies. The movie is really short, don't know how you could find it boring. There's just so many iconic scenes and songs from the original. I mean When you wish upon a star is at the beginning of every Disney movie!

The actress is definitely beautiful, I just don't think she added anything to the story. Also, it was weird how Pinocchio would talk more to her puppet than Fabiana herself.

Wish upon a star is most certainly a great song, a timeless classic. I think my problem with the original Pinocchio is that the first half hour is all set in Geppetto's home and the life giving of Pinocchio, it goes for so long. Then the rest of the story is crammed into the next hour, I wish they would have done the introductory scene in a shorter time frame.

Regarding the new movie, I'm OK with Pinocchio staying as a puppet, be happy with who you are and there is no need to change and all that jazz.

Well, it was subpart but had a few moments. Wokeism or shoveling stuff like they've been doing isn't my cup of tea. Just make simple movies for my kids.

So no one noticed the Easter eggs in the clocks?

And for those who saw it, did Cynthia Erivo as the blue fairy "take you out of the story?"?

Oh, and Joseph Gordon Levitt REALLY imitated the OG Jiminy Cricket's voice PERFECTLY!

Watched it the other night, only good thing is that stromboli is still a nasty cunt, always loved him as a kid, the way he treats others always inspired me.
