Hi all -
Just been given a PAL PS2 (SCPH 30002) that was giving its previous owner disc read errors on everything (DVD and CD games, DVDs, CDs) after a year or two of faithful service. Now I could send it to Sony (unlike Sony America, Sony Australia charges $70US for fixing) but I thought I'd try fixing it myself. I fixed my old PS1 when it was giving disc read errors but of course I imagine the PS2 is a somewhat more complicated beast...so my question is are there any good DIY repair guides on the net anywhere? Or is it pretty much a complete loss and I should just spend the money getting it repaired professionally? I'm pretty handy with the tools and have taken my PS1 and DC apart on many occasion with no dramas...
Thanks!
