First, a couple Questions.
How do I save? I just beat the first boss and I'm at the stage select screen.
And how do I load a saved game from startup?

Next, Initial Impressions
A joy to play. Great controls. Beautiful Graphics and animation. Fantastic Style. The Nintendo Tokyo studio seems an all-around great developer. The presentation is slick as hell, also.

Last, Club Nintendo code for those who need it.

Thanks, GAF.

Hrm. Are you using FreeLoader?

Choose the first (already selected) option on the pop up when JB boots, that'll set up the auto-save file. Be warned, however, if it goes into a second menu, then you're being asked to format your memory card. Don't do that.

I hope that makes sense.

After the Konga debacle last year, I modded my Cube, so, I'm not sure if it's different with FreeLoader. It shouldn't be.

I have a modded cube.
When I select the first option, it reboots my GC and acts like there is no disc.
Maybe I don't have enough blocks.

If it's kicking you back to the menu, yea, try deleting a few blocks.

It's...alright. Check the old Jungle Beat thread for more detailed impressions, but it's pretty meh.

Somehting a little fruity about playing a game with bongo drums. I don't know if I could take it.

The problem is that the controller attempts to emulate the method of pounding the bongos. It's not your typical "push left to go left, right to go right" thing - you're pressing the analog stick is either direction while slamming on B. The boss fights, especially the ones that have you alternating left and right very quickly, don't work nearly as well since you'll spend most of the time wiggling the analog stick side to side and mashing B. It actually takes more time to beat some bosses with the controller, because you can't alternate right and left as quickly as you can with the bongos.

That sounds very...meh. I'll get the drums, but you'd think that mapping it to the L and R shoulder buttons would make more sense.

Just use the drums. Using the regular GameCube controller for Jungle Beat is akin to using the Playstation controller for Dance Dance Revolution.
