Post other poll thenFar as I'm aware Gaf is an outlier on this and those poll results do not reflect the overall reception towards this.
There is always an artistical design behind from I knew. Not necessarily means pure art. Most games are not art either.
Could you show a example of DLSS5 altering the artistic vision of a showcased game? Most people have no taste. It's just sad, man.
Same card and this A.I DLSS 5 thing is beyond our reach now as it was shown with using two 5090 and they're trying to optimize it enough to be use on 1 RTX 5090. So you'll need a 5090 or similar or greater card than a 5090.
Thankfully Pathtracing already looks extremely good and still photo realistic like what's shown in RE Requiem, the Pathtracing showcase of Tides of Annihilation, and the advance RT of GTA VI's trailer 2 so we could at least handle all this.
If you can't see it from the posted examples, then nothing I post will change your mind. You either like it or you don't.Could you show a example of DLSS5 altering the artistic vision of a showcased game?
Would love to replay it this way, while also being high.
I'm open minded. Surely you could post any example you se fit and easily point it since it's so sobvious? If you can't see it from the posted examples, then nothing I post will change your mind. You either like it or you don't.
Have a few shrooms and you won't even need an NVIDIA GPU for that sweet DLSS 5.Would love to replay it this way, while also being high.
This is off subject but.....holy fuck is Norman Reedus a disgusting human. I mean he is fucking ugly, why do women think he's cute? Is it the beady eyed, kind of inbred look? Is that hot? It's hilarious.
People on here loved to count the microscopic wrinkles on Norman Reedus's weathered brow, and the visual fidelity on Senua in Hellblade 2 calling them technical masterclasses.
NVIDIA uses AI to bridge that final gap between video game character and actual human being, and suddenly everyone holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology specialising in Uncanny Valley.
Every single one of those demos has led me in favour of DLSS5.

"Editorialize the vote"? How about telling how to improve instead of hiding into the replies. I hate people like you who gives lesson while acting like morrons. These poll options suck and I'm not going to vote.
Stop trying to editorialize the vote options.
Just a quick post toanalog_future
Next time you want to complain, just shut your mouth. You didn't quote me because you knew you had nothing to say and are probably just butthurt I put you back at your place in another thread.

I asked for you input and the MINIMUM of respect would've been to answer.
Fuckin grown man acting like a kid.
Took you over 12 hours and three separate posts to finally drop your essay on why my poll "sucks" but your first contribution was just "These poll options suck and I'm not going to vote. Stop trying to editorialize."Dude you asked at like 9pm last night, again at 10pm, and now this morning at 8am. Maybe chill the fuck out a bit? Believe it or not, fixing your poll options for you is not particularly high on my priority list. I'm getting to it when I'm getting to it.
With that said, first of all, your thread title reads "DLSS 5 - Yes or No?" whereas your actual poll reads "Do you think DLSS 5 is the future?"
These are two completely different questions. When I read "DLSS 5 - Yes or No?" I immediately think the question is "Is DLSS 5 something I'm interested in? Yes or No". Yet the poll itself is asking a completely different thing, which is basically "Do you think DLSS 5 is going to be adopted and used in the mainstream at some point?"
Next, your poll options are too opinionated and specific. Just leave it yes, no, or other, and ask people to comment in the thread as to the "why". None of your poll options provide wiggle room and are too specific to fit my (and many others) actual opinion. Even the poll question itself, "Is DLSS 5 the future?"... Like what does that even mean? What is "THE FUTURE"? Does that mean every game from top to bottom will use it? Does that mean everyone will love it? Does that mean there will be a "before DLSS 5 era" and "after DLSS 5 era?" because its so impactful that it ushers in a new level of gaming? Or does that just mean it will have a small place as an option in some games for people who can afford high end hardware?
There's way to much specificity, and yes, editorializing in your poll options for it to serve any purpose to me.
Oh come on now...EDIT - Oh and please remind me where you "put me in my place". the fuck are you even talking about
Post other poll then![]()
Full blown meltdown? I am just stating my opinion.
I think people who are for this are indeed idiots.
You call them idiots, and I call you an idiot.
I keep looking at what they've showed and....it just looks better. I just think this is going to be like when HD first came around and people said they didn't need it/didn't notice it....but then try going back to SD.
Also the complaints that games with a cartoon/non-photorealistic art style going to be distorted is a red herring imo. This is obviously geared for AAA games aiming for photorealism to begin with.
Yeah, it's still pretty easy to spot AI images, most often the girl looks too perfect. But the ones like the one on the left will become impossible for me to notice any difference. The final treshold.I'm mixed.
I think the tech itself is really cool and I can definitely see the potential. I do think stuff like this will be the future rather than just ever increasing raw processing power and insane budgets.
That said, I don't really like the current implementation. IMO it just gives everything that trademark AI slop look, characters in particular.
It's actually similar to AI image generation when it first showed up, it looked kinda mind blowing at first glance, but then the more you saw of it the more you noticed how everything has a similar AI look.
But this tech will continue evolving, I think many people are too focused on what it is right now vs what it could be in a few years. I'm reminded of that image comparing the older vs newer version of the google image generator.

DLSS5 as it is presented right now makes everything look like the image on the left, but it will continue to evolve and improve.
Even if it were an actual useful feature, the implementation of it, at least according to Digital Foundry, is fucking ridiculous. Requiring two 5090s (or two top-of-the-line GPUs in general) is not an innovation whatsoever. I think there needs to be a differentiation between actual useful innovation and enshittifaction marketed as innovation, which "DLSS 5" seems to fall into. Nvidia have done a lot of the latter in recent years, just so that they can have "features" to sell products and raise the pricing on. On the consumer side, the last real "innovation" was DLSS itself (the actual work they did was curating the dataset and then keeping it proprietary, the method itself wasn't developed by Nvidia). And now DLSS has become a brand.Keep in mind that it has been largely nvidia continuing to innovate. I hate the pricing stuff but they have not fallen asleep at the wheel like intel did with CPU's. That's why they continue to have equity with me.
The engineers at nvidia GFX are second to none.
Nvidia said this a demo and DLSS 5 will run on a single GPU, and most likely a 5090 at 4K. This will no doubt be make to work on something like the 5080 at lower res with VRAM being the cap. Plus 2nm TMSC is going to give 20-30% power reduction vs 3 and Blackwell is TSMC 4NP.I take it you aren't familiar with Moore's law? and how it has slowed to a snails pace. You'd need something like an equivalent drop from 120nm to 12nm to get from 1800watts down to 100watts. but these two Nvidia GPUs are already at such low lithography that we'll need a major break through in fabrication to even get the power draw to 450watts.
Comments have been largely negative because negative feelings motivate people much more than positive feelings. But thats not how the world at large feels, a proven by this thread. All comments are people revolting against it yet the poll says what it says. But the community reaction to this has been largely negative:

My first thought too. Impressive back then and still today.Do you guys remember this intel GTA demo?
It depends on well it handles feet rendering.Be curious to see how a From Software game would fare. Also wonder what Kojima thinks.
As much as i dont like it amd and console makers are probably heading in a similar direction. It might be a little bit less advanced as dlss 5.0 but it will be close enough. Consoles cant so generational jumps anymore so the ps6 will be alot more heavy on AI.
