Terror is too strong a word probably, but I definitely feel fear/uneasy in creepy games (like Dead Space recently). Even more so in VR. Jump scares often get me too.

Prey (the Arkane game from 2017) had these "mimics" who can transform into any object and than suddenly just jumping on you....oof!

Scary games, movies in the haunted house events just really don't have any impact on me at all... Though I'm a big fan of all of them

Movies had me fucked up when I was a kid lol. Games can still NOPE me the fuck out.

I have to allow myself to get in that mood. I'm so jaded to horror that if I don't prepare myself to enjoy horror then it does nothing for me.

Jump scares suck though. Silent hill 2 gave me 1 good jump scare. I actually screamed because I was fully involved in the game and it was hilarious.

Being chased in first person can give me the "Oh shit I'm gonna die" tension, but past that? Not at all. It's a work of fiction.

I'm sure there have been a couple of jump scares in the past, but I couldn't for the life of me say what or when. Even those I think are more likely to be moments of surprise from an enemy being round a corner rather than a scripted jump scare.

I didn’t bother with it, but was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre scary? I didn’t find F13th or Dead by Daylight scary.

Closest things for me have been posted (SH, RE, etc). Black Ops 6 recently due to certain human like objects. Takes me back to Condemned.

It’s not always about the overall experience that’s scary. It’s the parts that mess with your imagination or it’s a threat of something to come. There was a lot of dread to Silent Hill 2’s plot while the scariest thing for me in RE4 was hearing the chainsaw in the area. Of course there were areas in Silent Hill 2 that gave off creepy vibes. I’m picky about the horror games and movies I enjoy. I won’t watch or play anything. There has to be some lasting appeal to it for me to invest my time.

Played The Evil Within last night and that game spooked me real good. The Evil within 2 had moments...so bummed there wont be another one!

Re7 really got to me with that first person perspective

Silent Hill 2 gives me an uneasy feeling but isn't scary like those others

I definitely find games with psychological horror to have a better effect if done right. Making the player use their imagination to help create their own horror and making them more involved in a way is more my cup of tea. Silent Hill for me is the best with games 1, 2, and 4 especially. Other games like Haunting Grounds and Clock Tower 3 were surpringly good I thought.

Resident Evil was never really scary but had some tense moments. The only jumpscare I can remember is the damn dogs jumping through the mansion windows. From 4 onwards Residental Evil became an action game with horror elements imo.

Jumpscares for me are just lazy and no effort for the most part. After it happens it passes within a few seconds. That being said, so many jumpscares, especially in movies, are the most predictable shite ever and kinda take me out of it. Gore horror like Saw doesn't do much for me, in fact after a while it's almost comical in how absurd it gets.

This is someone who grew up scared shitless of Freddy and even fucking E.T

When playing those games, I had that weird feeling that you want to go further but also feel uncomfortable to do so. When you finish the game, you feel relieved it's done. I played Condemned again recently but was not scarred at all and played the game more like an action fps than anything.
