Do I want a Switch 2?

Should I drop $700 on a Switch 2, MKW, DKB, and BotW?

Also, having never played BotW, a 4K/60 version of that is looking rather attractive as well.
The best version of this game is on the Switch 2(+unofficially on PC), and if you haven't played it, it's worth it just for this and TOTK. I'm also waiting for a new 3d Zelda game to be released before getting a Switch 2.

If you don't have the money. Wait a couple months, there is no rush, you'll just have more great games to choose from when you do get it.

If you have the money. Do it!
If you have kids. What are you waiting for?!
If you like Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart. Come on, why even make this thread? You already know what to do!

However, I'm looking at dropping $700 for the Switch2/MKW bundle + DKB + BotW, and my inner accountant is screaming, "Don't be a fucking idiot!" But the idiot in me simply drools and smiles. They're about to throw down.
Ask yourself do you think you can effort it and that's not just true with Nintendo but with all video game system.

Don't forget video games are just luxury item for entertainment, nothing more. If you think you can't effort it then I would say don't buy it.

People never creates threads like this to be discouraged... you want confirmation bias.

I would never drop this kind of money on last gen closed hardware, that in two to three years will be 2 gens behind.

But you do you.

Money is not just money, it's also opportunity cost. Like what could I do with this $700 otherwise

If you "have the money" you usually don't think like that. Then you ask yourself "Do I want this?" and go "Yes I do! *confirm purchase*"
😋

But I get it, and I'm actually not impulsive at all regarding my hobbies, I just plan everything with stock investments so I don't have to actually think if I want something.
Already have stocks cooking for a RTX 60xx! Not enough for even a half 50-series right now… But if I wait another year or two it will might be! "- please trumpet, behave!"

just do it GIF

Being able to run Switch 1 games in Switch 1 desktop mode. A lot of games will have resolution and frame rate improvements.
Are you trying to say "docked mode"?

well, I do think like that so

I thought I was impervious to its allure but, having seen footage of them, I find myself craving DKB and MKW. Also, having never played BotW, a 4K/60 version of that is looking rather attractive as well.

So, NeoGAF, I come to you for guidance.

Do I want this? Tell me true.
Bananza has been so damn fun.

Noone can tell you if you should or shouldn't. If you know you'll enjoy the current games out now and the upcoming games for the holiday and you can afford it then why not?

DK Bananza is the best reason to buy S2, but if you haven't played BOTW/TOTK, those are must plays if you have any interest in open world games. MKW I enjoy but it's clear a lot of people are disappointed with the lack of features/modes.

Knockout mode is a lot of fun but yeah, feels like the same game we've played a hundred times before. Don't get me wrong, it's good, it's just a bit underwhelming.

You should if you don't mind gaming in a closed ecosystem, supporting an overly litigious and morally-dubious company that stands as a shadow of its formerly creative self, and paying a premium for relatively shite hardware.

No, basically. I'd rather get a Steam Deck or a Legion Go S.

If you can bankroll without going bankruptcy then treat yo self, Given how rampant inflation is getting now days the thing will only cost you more the longer you wait.

I never stopped and added up the amount I spent on Switch 2 things so that $700 mentioned in the op was eye opening...I need to pay more attention.

I voted "no", but that's my personal take on it. If you really want to play those games and have the extra income, why not? There's sure to be more interesting games as time goes on too.

Yes you do, especially if you enjoy Nintendo games. It's a no brainer

If you're interested in MK and DK + the upgraded games then go ahead now. If not, it can wait and get it later.

Anything Nintendo is essential for me

I'm in the same boat. I have four little ones, and and the oldest two are the ones who primarily play the original Switch. The wife will play once in a while.

I'm thinking about just pulling the trigger myself since Best Buy just restocked the systems online.

It is, but I haven't left to go to Best Buy yet, which is a good sign. I think I'm gonna hold off. Thanks to all who participated in the thread.
Only get an NS2 if you don't own a Switch 1.
I have the NS2 and MKW is just okay and Bananza is way overrated. I'm only satisfied because I can catch up on all the NS1 games I missed (TotK and Splatoon 3 are gonna keep me occupied for while, and then I have a whole bunch more waiting).

I did it for MKW, and both Zeldas, the latter are really good games, I have been having a lot of fun. Could not stand BOTW on SW1 but i put 80 hrs on that game, ToTK probably i am around 50. I dont care to get all the shit, I like the main quests and story is ok. The game is fun.

It's priced more than it should be in my opinion.

That being said, I love mine, and would absolutely recommend it.

If you need to justify the price, just look at the price of everything else these days. Nintendo is just slightly greedier than the average.
