Do people even remember phone numbers anymore?

Besides their own I mean. With the advent of cell phones I hardly bother to remember the numbers of all my close relatives, family members, etc. But it could be an issue if I lost my phone and need to call someone.

I don't know any numbers other than my own. Home and work.

I'd be SOL if my phone was missing and I couldn't otherwise get online to get a contact list.

I accidentally the entire phone number.

Serious answer: All my contacts get backed up to Google. I give everyone my Google Voice number anyway, so I can make and receive calls on my computer even if my phone stops working or goes missing.

It's the kind of information we don't need to remember anymore.

I don't know how Apple works, but with Android all your contacts are stored online.

Only number i know is my mom and dad's home phone. But i keep back-ups of my contact lists, so i'm not really worried about losing my contacts.

I don't even know my fiancee's phone number. I just know mine, and my parents because theyve had the same one for like 15 years. That's it.

It can get kind of embarassing when I have to give her number out for something and I have to furiously scramble for my phone.

I love to phone numbers.

Seriously though, I only know my own mobile number and my parents' house number. If my phone contacts gets lost somehow I have a problem.

I make it a point to write down everyone's number in a book in case my phone breaks and to remember all the important people in my life and by important i mean really, really close friends and family like my mother.

It's not impossible to lose all your contacts so that's why i feel it's important to write them down. Also, you never know if you find yourself in a situation where you need a close friend or a family member and you don't have your cell phone. But i am also a very, very anxious person who worries about every kind of situation constantly.

I've never remembered anyone's number, except for my brother's number because it's the same as mine except for the last number. I don't even remember my wife's number to be honest.

I've been thinking that I should make backups of them some day in case my phone got lost or something, but have never managed to do it yet.

I only know my number, my brother's, and my parent's house number. If I lose my phone, then I would not be able to contact anyone. However, I do have my contacts backed up, so it's not really a problem.

I don't memorize any phone numbers any more.

Was a bit weird when an old person called me and asked for the phone number of a close relative and I couldn't tell them because I was using my phone.

I memorize most of the phone numbers I know. Not on purpose, just becomes natural once I dial it once or twice.

Am dying here, brehs. 2funny4meh

I remember my family numbers, rest is on google cloud if phone gets lost/stolen.

Yes, I remember almost every single good friend and close family members' house and mobile numbers. Just seems like pertinent information to have and remember. Most of the time, I still key in phone numbers when I dial. I also remember all of the passwords I use on sites around the Web, and they're all different.

My mobile, my house and my works landline.

No idea about any others.

And I hardly ever ring anyone anyway, email / hangout the vast majority of the time. Facebook chat occasionally. - SMS less often.

I know just enough numbers by heart to make sure i don't get stuck when i'm out without my cell phone. If i lose my list i'll just send out an email to all.

I probably remember two or three dozen, including a few useless ones like a girl I had a crush on in high school 17 years ago. I figure that trying to remember them will help ward off Alzheimer's in the future.

I recently switched to a new cell and didn't port the number, then i signed up for a google voice number. My old cell is still active. I have three numbers. I don't know any of them.

I know probably less than 10 phone numbers by heart:

My cell
My work
Wife's cell
Mom's cell
Brother's cell
MIL's cell

That's it.

I know the following numbers:

My Wife's Cell
My Parents' Home Number (the one I grew up with)
My home, work, and cell numbers
867-5309

That is all. Don't even have my son's cell phone memorized. Not sure why I have my wife's cell phone memorized as it's only a couple of years old. I think because it is fairly easy to remember and also because when we switched carriers and got local area codes, we put her as the main because she got a discount through work for service and I need her number to log into the account online.

I was talking about this with my family the other day. Apart from my own number and my parents' home number, which has been the same for 30+ years, all the numbers I remember are from the days before phones with memory built in, most of which are useless to me now.

- My dad's work (he's been retired for eight years)
- My grandparents (dead for over a decade)
- Several school friends who I haven't seen for 15+ years
- The local game shop that closed down in the mid-2000s that I basically lived at in the 90s

It wouldn't be a huge problem if I lost my phone anyway. They're in iCloud and if that fucked up I have a local backup of all the vCards on my computer.

I can't even remember my own mobile number and I've had it for over 2 years.

Only number I remember is the home number of the house I lived in 7 years ago. :lol

My immediate family (Grandpa, Parents, Brother) and my Boyfriends. I don't even remember my best friends lol...I just type in his name in the dial screen and his phone number pops up on the screen. :)

I have my brother, mom, dad and one of my close cousin's numbers memorized. That's it. Don't see why I'd need to memorize any more having a smartphone.

The only numbers I have memorized are the ones I had memorized before getting a cellphone. Hell, it took me forever to memorize my own cell number.

Not really. I know just a couple... my wife, mine and my parents' land line because it's still the same after all these years. It's kind of crazy to think about how many I had memorized in high school back in the 90's. I remember kind of knowing a lot of them by the numbers AND by the key pattern.
