Do you ever enter those prize codes inside food? (Doritos, Pepsi, etc?)

Do you use those codes inside products for prizes?

I just bought a box of Pepsi cans and they are running this promotion where every week they are giving away prizes blah blah blah.

Inside though is a code. You have to take this code to a site and enter it there to see if you win.

Anyone ever do this? This seems like a lot of work for potentially nothing. I didn't go on the site, but my guess is you need to create an account.

I was just curious, anyone ever do this stuff? Like the Doritos codes, etc. Have you ever won?

edit: Ooops wrong sub.

Think there was a monster promo or something that was giving away 7 day GPU codes or something. In that case, ch-yeah. That's like $3.50 by itself.

Also the Taco Bell box where you had a CHANCE to win an X1X I want to say it was.

I remember a Doritos promotion for free XBLA games, I managed to get all of the games they were giving away by signing up with multiple E-mail addresses.

I've entered them in the past, but only if you didn't have to register an account or anything like that. Never won though. It's been years too.

Coke used to have giveaways underneath the caps, usually a free soda, which I got. Probably just a ploy to get me on insulin

I bought a cereal for my kids that had a code for some Minecraft coins. I tried to use the code on the website they gave but it failed multiple times. After about 15 minutes I felt like an idiot because the 250 Minecraft coins weren't worth the irritation. I just bought my kids some Minecraft coins and went on with my day. I don't know if these things are usually a struggle to get to work but I probably won't bother with another thing like this unless it's very easy and straight forward.

I bought a $5 nacho box from Taco Bell and put the code into the website at 3am because I couldn't sleep. I received an Xbox One X and Elite 2 controller two days later:

Was the code your credit card number? :p

My kid won a switch and some Mario games through the lunchabkes sweepstakes.

The only ones I've actively looked for were the soda bottles with a prize under the cap. Mostly it's just a free soda again which you can redeem in any store.

The only ones I've really checked were the McDonalds Monopoly tokens ones since they're there and you just pull them off to see if you've won or not right away. Never did the "bonus" online code side to see if there's a backup prize. I actually wonder how many winning codes are thrown away in these competitions and how much they bank on people doing that.

it's a waste of time.

recently i noticed Lucozade is doing a Halo Infinite thing and unless I read it wrong you only get 1 xp per code/redemption lol. I don't play Halo Infinite MP but that seems really bad. 1 xp? lol surely it'd be quicker to actually just play the game than spend time redeeming that shit.

I might sometimes or I might have before. Now a days once I get to the "create an account" part and give us your email that's when I say fuck it.

Oh boy, can't wait to hand over my personal data for a chance to win a doritos-shaped Bluetooth speaker that sounds like dogshit and I will never use.

I won an Xbox 360 and a couple games by putting in codes on Mountain Dew caps. Got the system a few days before it launched.

I have and won small things like a 2l Pepsi or some random other things. The problem for me is not creating the account or entering it, but not forgetting to redeem it or feel like I'm being a hassle trying to redeem it at some store.

i miss the coca cola ones back in the 90s where it would just say "free 20z coke" and you could give it to the 7-11 clerk and get a free coke on the spot

I sure do. When the Xbox 360 came out Pepsi did a "win every hour" thing. I won a 360 with kameo and pgr if I remember right. Won a series one that way as well. Got them before release day.

Sold both and used the money for Christmas presents those years.
