In other words, do you expect consoles which need to be replaced? I don't expect my Xbox to last much longer than a year, if that. And I know that some people sell PS2's on eBay because of their infamous problems in reading disks. Nintendo's consoles are generally long-lasting, but the company isn't much of a factor next generation. I certainly hope that console replacements are lessened from this generation, since prices are bound to be high enough. And of course launch window systems can be the worst in terms of problems.
But I'm an optimist. I hope that Sony and MS have machines that can be bought by most people on launch day and still work just fine 5 years later.
