Named brands are often just generic products with the company's logo and extra $$$ tag attached to it. So I prefer generic products cause they are identical to branded names and cost significantly less. No need to pay more for an image, a lifestyle, or some other crap. Fatwallet all the way.

For the most part I don't mind generic stuff, and will usually choose it over the name brand product.

There's some stuff that I can't stand, though. Like the generic Whole Foods orange juice. It has a weird after-taste for some reason.

There are quite a few things that the named brand tastes way better than generic. One I can think of right off the top of my head is pizza rolls. Kroger pizza rolls are absolutely nasty compared to Totinos. Another would be most of the Hamburger Helper stuff.

Vegetables and stuff like that though, I can't tell the difference. I can't think of anything I like the generic better though. It's either the same or worse than the name brand.

Peanut butter and ketchup are the only two things I can think of that I just can't stand the generics of.

i don't buy a lot of convenience foods, but i definitely tell a difference between store brands and most name brands. Even things like canned vegetables usually taste the same among brands in the same price range, but when you get the name brands, you usually vegetables that are less cooked, more flavorful, and contain less undersireables like stems.
