Do you say "Reeseas" or "Reese is"

What about Chipotle as Chip-ole-tee?

That one doesn't bother me as much, as most of the country is not as exposed to Spanish/Mexican pronunciation as other parts. There is absolutely no excuse though for "Reesees" or "expresso". None. The only other one for me up there with those two is "Acrost" for across. It's like, where the hell did the T come from? lol

lol 5 pages really? we've been linked to advertisements reminding us of the correct pronunciation!

wait, reese's puffs cereal is no longer a thing? I remember liking that growing up.

Wasn't it supposed to rhyme with pieces?

yup, reesee's peecees.

I do t even u derstand how there is any debate at all when the official commercials pronounce the name Reese is. Like I don't think the marketing would mispronounce their product.

Never mind the overwhelming evidence of how the English language works with possessives, they are peanubutter cups that belong to Reese. And the fact that it's meant to rhyme with pieces.

Yeah it would be one thing if their ads didn't sound it out for you, but there's no room for discussion unless you'd like to discuss how incorrectly you say it.

This man knows what he's talking about

So reesees peesees

Edit: if you really pronounce the word pieces as peesees...

Hey Ghaleon he called us dumbies

hahaha

Lol sorry dude, you (and the few posters you found that agree with you) are the odd one(s).

It is regional. Northern New England most people say Reesee's.

What exactly is northern New England? I'm from NH and people say "Reese Is". I've heard people say reeseas, but I never thought that's how they think it's pronounced.

My mind is a little blown because I never realized I was pronouncing this word in an odd way. No one has ever mentioned it to me. And it's not like I pronounce other possessive nouns that way. Lol.

Reesus. Just like "diabeetus." Coincidentally related.

i mean, the commercials for reese's literally pronounce it reese-is. why would you say reeseas. the worst is when people say reeseas piecees. no, stop get away from me 4ever

I totally understand it's a possessive of a guys name or whatever, but did you never hear the cereal commercials? Why would the company say it wrong themselves?

Remember that when you go to Tack-uh Bell and get a burr-eye-toh with a soft torr-till-uh.

Mmm Olive Garden. That's some good Eye-talian!

Well it's Reese, and they're his cups. By that logic, it is Reese's or Reese ehs
That's about where I stand on the subject as well.

Well how is "Pieces" supposed to be pronounced? Maybe it is supposed to rhyme with "Ree-Seas."
I've totally heard people call them "Ree-Seas Pee-seas" and it drives me up the wall every time.

Can you pick me up a quesa-dill-uh while you are at it?
My wife pronounces them like "quesa-deal-lia."

That's an apostrophe-S. Reese-apostrophe-S, on the end of that name. That means the candy bar is his, I didn't know that! Next time you're eating a Reese's candy bar and a guy name Reese comes by and says "Let me have that," you'd better hand it over.

"I'm sorry, Reese, I didn't think I'd ever run into you! You're a fuckin' bully, man! Let me at least have a piece!"

I know it's Reesis but

How can you not just adore saying Reesees Peecees (Or the singular Reecee Peece)?? It rolls off the tongue in the most majestic way.

This thread is giving me a giggle fit.
