I still think they are doing great, my only real criticism of them is regarding MH. They have "streamlined" Wilds so much that it may be a great game for newcomers of the series, but any longtime veteren is going to come away disappointed (I sure have). I see DD 2 being brought up a lot, but I haven't played it to comment on it. Capcom is still knocking it out of the park with the RE series though.

I know how to pick my stuff to play, I dont just mindlessly buy what the masses buy just because its popular like Monster Hunter. That shit is trash for me. Even RE3R was decent so as long as RE9 is a better version of 8, then im all in.

I don't really rely on journalists as I like to form my own opinion. I did a quick metacritic check out of curiosity. It can be a good barometer to at least get a sense of the quality of a game. You're right though, looking at the userscore for those two examples, they are rated average. I stand by my initial comment though. I'm sure both are great games that may not have lived up to die hard fans lofty expectations.

Of the Capcom games I have played recently, they've all been excellent. All the Resident Evils of the past few years, Kunitsu, Street Fighter 6, etc.

Yeah in case of metacritic id agree, user reviews are far less useful than even critic ones there imo (if we could filter out all the 10/10 and 0/10 theyd be a far better indicator)

Capgod is a meme. They put out just as many shitty games as they do good ones.

Dragons Dogma 2, Exoprimal, Monster Hunter Wilds, Resident Evil Re:Verse, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (one of the worst remasters i've ever played).

Pragmata's gameplay looked awful and I don't care what that retard Maximilian Dood says about it.

"They put... a freakin puzzle mechanic... in the game!? GOTY!!!"

They're also censorship happy as the cherry on top (see Onimusha 2 and DRDR again).

In terms of their good games, it's basically just Resident Evil. Devil May Cry 5 came out six years ago so that series doesn't qualify as relevant to me any more (as much as I hate that hack Adi Shankar, he's actually right that his stupid show is the main thing keeping it in the spotlight - and that is sad).


If so-called Capgod didn't have Resident Evil, nobody would care about them.

They make my favourite series so they will always be top tier for me as long as they are making great RE games. And they been hitting those out of the park. The new Onimusha looks incredible, and Pragmata could be good. I can't really speak on dragons dogma or monster hunter as I never played any of those. RE9 is my most wanted game over anything else.

Capcom sucks nowadays. RE2-4 Remakes are not actual remakes. Re2 fucked up the A/B Scenarios, RE3 fucked up the whole Nemesis narrative, RE4 is more a new imagination, but without the charisma of the original.

Still no Dino Crisis. Out of all the releases in the recent years, only RE7 got the premium treatment with a lot of content.

Now we've recently seen Resi 9 and I have to say my first thought was, it won't be good again, even though I actually liked the trailer. And I enjoyed playing Resi 7/village.

I got burned 2 times in a row from playing Capcom games. And no longer have confidence in them. Is it just me?

Its too early to judge on Resident Evil 9 since there was not a single gameplay was shown.

Loved both RE VII and VIII, SF6 is game That I have played consistently since it released and will likely play until the end of the generation. RE4 Remake was excellent but I still prefer the original. Onimusha is looking good. They are still one of the best in the industry

Pretty good. I think 7 is better but 8 has its moments, the doll mansion section is just amazing.
But the Dimitrescu section can be a bit of a meme if you don't take it seriously yeah. I streamed the game to a couple of friends so all I did was joke around, basically playing a game of cat and mouse with her to catch her with her back turned to me and proceeding to harass her. Made a mockery of that boss basically.

I didn't care for MH Rise/Wilds, DD2 was somehow even more full of missed potential than the first one was, SF6 is ugly as fuck. They censored most of the remasters, they're sticking with body type nonsense. They doubled down on shitty publisher decisions like excessive microtransactions and enshittification. Right now you could say I'm not such a fan of them, but this is how Capcom always operates. Cycles of Capgod followed by a few years of Crapcom. Shame that DD2 had to be released during a Crapcom period.

I am however looking forward to Pragmata, so there's something at least.

People are so dramatic both dd2 and wilds are good games, people acting like these games are Mindseye quality.

DMC5, RE7, World or 2/4 remakes were amazing.

Village, Wilds and DD2 aren't bad at all imo, just not as good as the previous.
SF is a series i lost interest in since IV.
Mega Man, i liked 11 but it's a series not easy to revive, maybe make a Legends remake, i don't know.

Onimusha WotS seems awesome.
RER i'm not sure Outbreak inspiration will be a consensus but wait and see.
Pragmata looks beautiful but not sure about gameplay.
Still have Okami Sequel to look forward.

I feel like Capcom's taken away a lot of of the wrong lessons in the last several years. They were pumping out some fucking great games again from like... 2018-2020, but they've lost their consistency and have gone back to trying too hard to appeal to Western audiences or chase trends. I'm not sure what their design documents look like for new games beyond just copy-pasting the word "parry" for 100 pages.

But there's still glimmers of greatness, and I'm still cautiously optimistic about Onimusha and RE9.

Resident Evil: Village was pretty decent. I've only played two or three RE titles, though, so my opinion there isn't worth much.

Dragon's Dogma II, though, was a pretty big disappointment. It's not a bad game per se, but expectations were sky-high after waiting over a decade since the original, and the team failed to deliver across the board.

It's the rebirth of Capcom.

The existence of the RE Engine is a great gift. Better games, better game collections, and the RE games are excellent.

I'm satisfied with the current Capcom.

Very pleased with Capcom and the RE series in general, but I am accepting that some of these titles could vary in quality depending on time and how the RE engine has fared in prior iterations, but I do feel confident things are in a very good place for the future.

Capcom for me is almost exclusively Resident Evil and there they have an exceptionally high quality bar. But they also do some exceptionally shady shit from time to time with their awful microtransaction implementation and shoddy game quality on their lesser franchises. I hope they put in some serious work in Okami 2 and don't fuck it up. It's an all time classic and deserves to be treated with care and respect.

Same goes for RE2. Haven't yet played the new fps RE, but I've heard good things.

SF6 was solid despite not being my jam anymore. RE4R was solid too. DD2 had tons of issues, like the first game really, but I loved it. Capcom fighting collections are fire.

MH Worlds was whatever from what I played. Dead Rising remake looked awful but the PS4 remaster is really fine still so I didn't care.

Onimusha looks lit. Pragmata looks kind of fun to me. RE9 looks good. At least a new IP, and sequels to long buried ones. All of these can go places though.
