Doctor Who Series Seven |OT| The Question You've Been Running From All Your Life

If it's implying Tom Baker having a role in the 50th, it would mean they have arguably the 3 most popular doctors (Baker, Tennant, Smith)

Probably just a DVD tease, though.

I don't think Baker will be involved in the 50th. The man hasn't aged well at all, it'd be very weird for them to put him in the show - even weirder than Peter Davison's cameo in Time Crash.

I think it's just the BBC making a fourth of July reference, yeah.

By the way, has their been an official name given to the John Hurt incarnation? Or if he actually is the regeneration between the 8th and 9th Doctor? I've just been calling him "The Time Warrior".

A Fourth of July reference would be daft, seeing as the video was unlisted on the fourth.

Nothing official beyond what we saw in The Name of The Doctor,
but the costume designer blurted out earlier in the week that he is indeed the Time War Doctor, in between McGann and Eccleston.

He's not aged awfully to be honest. His character didn't exactly ever look "young". I would be interested to see what a wig + hat + makeup along with some clever camera work could do for him. As cool as Tennant and Smith running around will be, it would be nice to have just one surprise Doctor, seeing as Hurt's role has apparently been blurted out by the guy playing him and someone working on the show.

EDIT: It's interesting they started off with #thefourth, i.e. the first surviving Doctor. He's also the most popular and recognizable I realize, so that could be something to do with it.

Been making my way through the Eighth Doctor Adventures from Big Finish, the ones with Sheridan Smith as his companion.

I like 'em quite a bit. Smith comes on like the worst elements of Rose and Donna at first, but evens out a little. McGann is rock-solid, though.

Fun stuff.

Another one of those #thefourth videos posted, it's an ad for Terror of the Zygons. I believe once that's out, all the Tom Baker stories will be available on DVD.

There is no good element to Donna

BAH! Donna was awesome. I pray you wont say anything unkind about Wilfred next.

Bernard Cribbins actually plays a slimy band manager in one of the episodes. It's set in 1974, everyone's trapped in a diner during the winter while giant beasts are picking off people dumb enough to go outside to try and escape.

Kinda funny hearing Wilf sell out EVERYONE around him every five minutes.

But, it's worth pointing out, that that has one of the best titles for anything ever.

Alongside the interview package, the set contains an advance vanilla release of the restored Terror of the Zygons, set to be released in full later this year.

What do they mean with a "advance vanilla"? It almost sounds like it's just a work in progress version that they bundled with some neat goodies to make a quick buck.

Sooooo, guys... I think I have been totally converted to this series. Im just finishing Matt Smith's last season (the next one is after the submarine episode), and started with Eccleston.
I'm such a big fan right now that I'm going in two days to London to watch Doctor Who at the proms 50th anniversary with a friend that lives there (she also started at the same time as me and loves Tennant with a passion), and to buy all the merchandise I can from Forbidden Planet lol
Its been a month and a halve since I started watching it, and right now I think is my favourite tv series ever. Yeah, there are possible better tv series (the wire, soprano, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones), but this one has the adventure, the epicness, the fun, the dramatic, the charismatic characters, anything can happen... I have always wanted on a series, that's why I love it so much.
I love Eccleston, I love Tennant, I love Smith, I love RTD and I love Moffat. Yeah there are different, but I think each one is awesome in their own way.
And it will probably be easier to say the episode I didn't like instead of the ones that I most like, because the list is longer lol. The Olympics episode (it would only be good if Tennant was the one that brought the torch in the real Olympics) and the Christmas one of the Widow, the Doctor and the Wardrobe, both of them because they are a bit boring.
My favourite companion right now is Clara, and I don't think she had an amazing string of episodes like the other ones yet, but its really what I love from a Doctor companion (and also find her really cute lol). Also I liked a lot the one shot companion from the bus in the desert episode. Apart from that it would be Rose-Amy>Donna>>>>Martha, and its a pity because I really liked Martha at the beginning. I'm also really fond of Rory (from zero to hero) and Donna's grandfather (such an amazing and fun man). I don't count people like Jack as companions, but he was awesome.
My favourite enemies are the Daleks without a doubt, even when I only knew this series because it was so long and some people love it I was intrigued why they were so famous, and after the Eccleston episode where he sees the lonely Dalek for the first time I understand why (although I like more RTD's Daleks than Moffat's, but I liked that all versions were mixed in The Assylum of the Daleks). Sadly I only find the cybermen good (although I really like the episode where they were first shown and when they fight against the Daleks in Doomsday), but they same more interesting from the little scenes Ive seen of the old series that in the new ones, is that true?
I love the episodes with historic figures in them, really fun to watch (and dramatic like the Van Gogh one), but the time traveling and sci-fi ones are also amazing.
And what about all those incredible season finales WOW! I literally applauded after the intro scene of The Stolen Earth, when the opening starts and all the companion names appear, holy shit, I had goosebumps during the whole two episodes.

So yeah, after coming from London Im going to watch some old Doctor Who, anywhere good to start with that?
Cant wait for the 50th anniversary episode either.
And you will probably see me hanging more around on this thread :)

The Bionic Women doesn't get enough love for her stint as Specials-companion. I disagree with your order, but it's all good man.

I totally forgot to talk about the magnificent music the series has. I've been hearing the soundtracks from youtube while working and its magnificent. And of course I love the main theme and the opening changing, although I prefer more some versions than others. The main theme I most like is the one in the stolen earth season, and although I love the instruments of the last season version reminiscent of old doctor who I dont like thta they have cutted the part B (the one that you can hear only in the ending credits) of the song since Matt Smith appeared as the Doctor :( I love that part because it was like a beam of hope in the main theme.

Yep, would have loved more of Michelle Ryan as a companion. The bad girl type in a companion could have been really cool to see. What is your companion order? I had a hard time making an order because I like them all.

My proms tickets arrived.

Did you have good seats? My friend could get two seats months after they were sold out visiting the site each day. I've never been to to the albert hall so I don't know if my seats are good or bad, from what I see in the photos maybe we are a little far from the orchestra.

And it was totally like that lol
Trying to convince some friends that I know are going to love it if they give it a chance, but they are hesitant becuase they say its too long (even only counting new series), and well, they can stop talking of Game of Thornes as it was the second coming of christ (dont get me wrong, I love Game of Thrones, but they are talking all day about it, and I want to talk with people about the doctor's adventures dammit lol)

Quite accurate.

I was the first of my group of friends to watch the show, and I tried to get them into it at first, but they didn't want to try it. Most of them said it seems like a "long" show.

Finally, one of my friends tried to watch it, and was instantly hooked. He got my other friends into it, and now they're hooked, too.

Yeah I suppose than when one of the dominos falls (and one is really near to fall in my group) the rest of them will fall with it lol
He just need a little push, but I dont want to hype it too much because that's the worst thing you can do.

And I do admit, I did explain the premise to one of them poorly. I got a bit ahead of myself with explaining it.

Kissed a mod for a tag; liked it

Yep. After months of trying to get the bf to watch it with me, I finally succeeded at the start of the year. Then he was able to watch 7.2 with me as they came out. He's so in love we're dressing up as The Doctor and Amy for avcon this weekend! I have reason to believe that's marriage material.

Yeah, my brother and his girlfriend finally watched a few episodes of Who after putting it off and love it now. Another friend at work also loved what he saw. I got into it as soon as Abed got addicted to its parody on Community and ended up watching all of seasons 1-6 by the time the Christmas special came along that year. I then proceeded to get my parents hooked on it, especially my mom who watches it all the time every time it's on BBCA. The episode I showed them to start with was "The End of the World".

The Doctor can't marry Amy! You need to change to River or he needs to change to Rory (which, admittedly, doesn't strike me as the most challenging costume. Unless he goes full Last Centurion).
