But for now I will say: Genesis of the Daleks.
I've already did it but there are so many of them ... i thought that maybe gaf, in its vast wisdom (lol), would have the definite list.

I'm pretty sure the Timelords go through a ritual as children to be given their name, staring into the Time Vortex or something. I think there is an episode which covers it, I seem to remember a child being named Doctor at the same time another child was named Master.
But I read a lot, books and comics, so it's entirely possible I've read stuff not strictly canon and I'm just filling in the blanks.

Excluding the obvious suggestions of the regeneration stories and the anniversary episodes, I'll offer up The Ark in Space. More immediately accessible than Genesis, in my opinion. City of Death is another good one.

Dunno if you would be going by something like netflix or dvd, but if you watch Day of the Daleks or Curse of Fenric, make sure you watch the special editions, as they're far superior. They came out on the dvd's, but I'm not sure if the streaming services have those versions of them. Kinda is much cooler with the cgi, which is almost certainly dvd-only, but it's just one scene.
With one exeception, my list misses out regens and characters joining/leaving if I don't think the episodes are very good. If you want me to amend the list to include those let me know.
Old episodes tend to be paced a lot slower. Some early episodes are "historicals"(no sci-fi elements whatsover except the tardis). The two recovered serials aren't in my list because I haven't seen them yet as I'm waiting for the dvd release.

So, I just want to say that it's been many years that friend have recommended this show to me. I've never avoided it on purpose, I just never had the time to catch up on 50 years of history!
Anyways, I recently just began watching the 2005 Eccleston run alongside the first doctor and I must say that I am completely in love with the show. I don't say this lightly, but it has quickly become my favorite show of all time, and it take a lot to over take those MST3k bots.
Exactly my experience only some months ago.
I understand there are better shows out there, but I just love Doctor Who so much after watching it that is my favourite live action series ever.

At first I thought you specified leaving out poor regenerations just as an excuse to exclude Twin Dilemma and Time and the Rani, but no Logopolis too? Weird. And no Ark in Space?
At least Mawdryn and Enlightenment are there. I love the Turlough-era 5th doctor stories. Especially Mawdryn, which has the jaunty driving music; perhaps my favorite music of classic Who (for the wrong reasons.)

Yes, Day of the Daleks has the normal episodes on one disc and the special edition eps on the other disc. Curse of Fenric has the normal episodes on one disc, and a directors cut on the other disc.
If you're going to be watching via dvd, make sure to watch the documentries available with 95% of the serials afterwards, they're normally very good. Doctor Who has some of the best dvd extras going.
Yeah, it definately has the most nuwho flow, although for precisely that reason I don't tend to recommend it as a first ep as it doesn't really let people know what they're in for! That said, it remains one of my absolute favourites. That, Day and War Games are my most rewatched serials.

I'm not sure if the recovered serials will have any extra's given the timeframe, but we've still got moonbase and underwater menace to go!(and hopefully crusade)
Does kinda feel like the end of an era though...

I think that's more of a reference to how Series 5/6/7 have all had awfully sparse extras compared to 1-4, which is bloody true. It's rubbish. I can't believe we haven't had a single Matt Smith commentary track to one of his episodes, and now he's leaving

Yup, AP knows how much hatred I have for Moff and his team, lol
We had MULTIPLE commentaries per episode during RTD's run. Podcast commentaries, regular commentaries, and even newly recorded ones for the DVD sets! David, Julie, and RTD together doing their commentaries was really one of the main reasons I continued to buy the DVD box sets even after I had downloaded all of the episodes as they aired free of charge, because they put so much time and effort into those sets.

The podcast commentary for Forest of the Dead, where RTD and Tennant grill Moffat (who had just been announced as the new boss a week before) about who he'll cast as the Doctor, if it'll be a woman, "Jimmy Nesbitt's face zooming down the time tunnel" and the identity of River like a pair of fanboys is still one of my favourite extracurricular Who things going. Moffat also talks about disliking the way a cliffhanger 'feels' when traditional, which feels like the precursor to him doing away with them entirely.
To think we used to get these commentaries immediately after the episode every week AND then a different set on the DVD! We don't even get one for every episode on the current DVD sets

Having a look at the site structure - I think someone's just put that there. No idea why. If you look at S7 part 1 or S7 part 2, it's not there...
Theory: They want the page for something coming up, Monsters seem to only be there from S5 onwards, but not for the spoiler suggestion. Maybe that BBC Three vote thing.

I very much doubt they'd let something slip like that... still, I'm all for the Master coming back. Thought the Great Intelligence was going to be that great "Moffatt villain", but he ended up dying like a little bitch.

I've been wanting to watch BroadChurch for the longest time now. However, I havent seen David Tennent play anything outside of the doctor. I havent even went back and watched reruns of his time as the doctor. So, Im quite scared he wont be as good as I remember him being
I guess if worse comes to worse I can just convince myself that there's a particular fob watch that needs to be looked at in the show....

If you want to break the perception of Tennant as always and only being the Doctor into pieces, look up a three-part drama called The Politician's Wife. He rapes his wife in it, and quite brutally. It'll definitely change the way you see him! He plays a right bastard in it.

Awesome.
Amazon had the first episode for free for a while and I finally got around to watching it a month or so ago. It's well-made and good looking, I can see why it got picked up for a US remake, but it (the first episode at least) is some hardcore grief porn. Long long shots of people standing around just sobbing, armies of tiny little gnomes trying to find any heartstring you might have to just tug at it mercilessly. Turned me off.
Tennant's fine, tho.
