BBC confirms - no 12th doctor announcement tonight.
I'm actually relieved to hear they're not announcing Twelve tonight. I think an announcement of this caliber deserves to be done at a more beneficial time - I know this is the BBC proms and all, but I really think the announcement/reveal of the 12th Doctor will go down better on or around the 50th anniversary. Or the BBC could play a really risky game and not announce it at all, leaving the reveal of the next Doctor for the Christmas special.

I would like it if there is no official reveal at all and we only find out in the last 5 minutes of the special. But it is going to get leaked before that anyway so...

And the synthesizer stuff currently on is pretty bad.

Just arrived from london doctorGAF, will try to put some photos up after I settle a little. It was a magnificent experience, the music with scenes was chilling, the actors were fantastic (the strax part were hilarious, but I suppose that is if you like strax or not), and of course Matt Smith (short hair lol) and Jenna Louise Coleman (drools) were there , and the crowd reactions were awesome. There were two surprise themes not in the panflet, and thank god for them because they were hype inducing.
BTW im pretty sure we saw the beginning of Matt Smiths regeneration to the 12th doctor (and obviously stopped before showing anything of value) in the second to last song that was about all the doctors regens.

Also, for what it's worth, the proms had a segment with Matt (and Jenna) in character, and Matt has his short hair, no wig. They even call the hair out. It's non-canonical, obviously, but make of it what you will. This was, weirdly, book-ended by a pre-filmed sequence showing how the Doctor & Clara get to the proms... filmed during the Crimson Horror by the look of it, so old hair, obviously. I still find it hard to believe his last on-screen performance will be without his iconic do, though, and Moffat has (in a very vague way) suggested he'll have his normal hair as well, which is making me believe more and more the regeneration - or at least Matt's side - is in the can and is actually in the 50th, not Christmas. You'd think considering he's back in the UK off that film in 10 days if they were doing a wig it'd be done, and if a wig was done they'd whack it on him for this. I find it all very suspicious.

Rose's theme is still god-tier, as well. Ridiculous. Amy's is lovely, too, but Rose's is just unstoppable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3q-vQG4AtU

Listening to the radio broadcast of the proms. Will this be on tv eventually? And any news on S07 OST?

Here is what my prom panflet says:
Prom 2 is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 (repeated on Tuesday 16 July at 2:00pm; Proms 2 & 3 are recorded for broadcast this autumn on BBC One.
So yeah, autumn, but not a date set in stone yet.

Yeah that part was awesome, did a video of it, they even explain joking why his hair is like that when he appears on the stage. About the regeneration part, it looks more and more that it will probably be in the 50th if what I saw on the regeneration scenes in the second to last music was real.

If the regeneration happens in the 50th then we're going to know soon as shooting for the Christmas special will begin in September I believe. I don't think it's possible to have a surprise regeneration at the end of the 50th if the production crew is going to be running around shooting the Christmas Special with a new Doctor. Unless the entire episode is set bound and they manage to keep everyone's lips shut.

Voyage of the Damned was almost completely shot on a set indoors. It can be done.

True. The other problem is Matt Smith. If they are shooting the CS with another Doctor in September, Matt Smith can't travel for any extended periods of time or it's going to be pretty obvious he's not with the production.

It's quite the logistical nightmare if they are going to try and do a swerve and have 11 regenerate at the end of the 50th. I'd love for it to happen though and I'd like to be just as surprised as I was to see Clara in Asylum of the Daleks.

Edit: Also, after seeing Burn Gorman in Pacific Rim, I would be good with him as The Doctor.

Burn's great. I'm very said that he's the only member of the Torchwood crew not to make it into Who. He's too Hollywood now anyway, though.

I don't see any major Hollywood commitments that would keep him from Who right now. Then again, I want the next guy to stick around for a while. Definitely longer than three seasons. If he has eyes on Hollywood already his run could be just as short, or shorter, than Smith's.

Question regarding River Song: when in the Twelfth's timeline did River go to the Library? when did the Doctor give her his sonic screwdriver? I kinda got lost in the "Name of the Doctor" where River appears to be a holographic projection of her digital self, and not her real, physical self, which seemed to indicate she was already dead.

....I'm not even sure I understand your question.

Leave The Twelfth Doctor out of this. In The Name of The Doctor-it is her Digital Self from the Library. She'd already died at this point.

In one of the Blu Ray Shorts "Last Night" I think it's called, you see The Eleventh Doctor taking River on what is their last "Date" together. Presumably that's when he gave her that Sonic Screwdriver.

Sorry, it's 3:30 a.m. here when I wrote that.

Basically I got confused by the timeline. River was in her digital self in In The Name of the Doctor, which means she's already dead, correct? Problem is, I don't remember her dying between the Angels Take Manhattan episode and In the Name of the Doctor, and I don't remember ANY of the characters mentioning River being dead.

Edit: Sorry, I meant Eleventh Doctor, not Twelve. Will try not to post so late next time.

There was a throwaway special clip released a while back in which its strongly implied 11 is taking her out for the night before she heads to the library.

I was out for lunch today in a little coffee shop and Paul Mc Gann sat down at a table across from me. Bit of a surprise seeing Doctor Who sitting 5 feet in front of me.

I think he's in Dublin to do a play in the Abbey Theatre. The coffee shop is just across the road from it.

Also I started teaching a class today in which we're building a Dalek and a Weeping Angel. The other instructor and I pre-cut a lot of the Dalek pieces so its more assembly and painting, but I think its going to look really great.
