Maybe it's sacrilege to say such a thing (especially with the new film less than a month away). However, I've never been all that interested in the Star Wars franchise. It just seems shallow to me. I've seen all six films, watched good amounts of the Clone Wars animations, tried the new comics, and played multiple games.

I'm not trying to be a contrarian or anything here. I realize the importance of the franchise, its effect on the entertainment industry, and I don't want to diminish that. So I just want to get those two things out of the way before anyone assumes otherwise.

With all the hype surrounding the release of the new film, I feel like I'm alone in this. Am I?

Edit: Sorry. Didn't see other threads.

Star Wars is nothing but trash.

Kirk is a terrible captain of the Millenium Falcon, and why is Data gold?

If you didn't grow up seeing the OT first it's understandable, especially if you saw the prequels first. Hell, if you were more of a mid to late 90s kid than an early 90s kid I'd say this applies too, by that time you'd have seen shit like The Matrix or LOTR (I know I know early aughts) and wonder wtf everyone was going on about. I mean shit it already kinda looked dated in the effects dept anyway by early 90s, but if you were a young un you filled in all sorts of gaps and didn't give a rat's ass. Watching despecialized editions is a treat tho, but its also weird seeing the OT in HD period, the veneer of "everything was plastic" from the armor costumes to the sets really comes across more. They'll always hold a special place for me though, first time I saw Jabba's Palace as a kid was a watershed moment. That menagerie and atmosphere was just so affecting.

This thread already exists.

But I never posted in the earlier thread.

What I have to say, is that if you cannot enjoy the Star Wars universe, then I feel you are missing the ability of joy, and you should at least give it a shot.

Like with many things, the product isn't the problem as much as the fans are. Hysteric rabid intense fanboyism makes it hard to appreciate things for what they are. In this case, a solid, fun, entertaining B level franchise.

I really don;t care if people enjoy Star Wars or not. But when it permeates EVERYTHING is when it is a problem for me. Even Covergirl is selling Force Awakens make up now lol.

of course, you're the only person in the entire world who doesn't enjoy Star Wars!

seriously, what is it with people? Why do you think you're the only one?

you're never the only person.

No you're the only one OP!

As evident by someone making this exact thread yesterday

What a unique snowflake you are OP.
