Does Final Fantasy X-2 get any less embarassing as it progresses?

I was embarassed just watching the commercials. Not a chance in hell I'd actually touch the game.

You can't judge Final Fantasy X-2 on just fifteen minutes.

Give it twenty.
Ha ha ha. Man, I felt like I was watching Charlie's Angels as I played the game. They even did the poses. :lol

I want to play FFX-2. But because FFX is the worst FF ever.. I have no desire to. The Jpop cuteness I find kawaii in a demented sort of way.

Dan: its not about touching the game. Its about touching yourself

Its really cheesy, but its still a damn good game.

I don't know about it being a good game. Least I could do was give it a rental and it just went from bad to worse, the entire atmosphere ruined it all and even a blind man could tell you that Square were cashing in on a shitty product. Now that the masses bought it, it's led to an influx of 4 announced FFVII spin offs. Please God, why!?!?

Only people that I know who enjoyed it are the ones that went out of their way to collect the Ultimate Weapons in FFX and have save states that are over 120hours long. Personally I had a hard time eating it all by getting upto Yunalesca in just under 30 hours flat.

Didnt' everyone do that.....?

The story gets pretty serious by chapter 3 (about 10 hours in.) Does it really pain you people to play a RPG featuring a female cast that much?

Guess thankfully I'm not a part of that crowd.

It wasn't the fact of a female cast, it was just the entire atmosphere. I played a bit over a dozen hours on the rental and just gave up.. but spoiled it all when I downloaded the perfect ultra deluxe ending or whatever it was. Maybe it was all due to my ever-lasting smidgen of hatred towards FFX or just me having to jump in an RPG :lol

I don't want to play a ROLE PLAYING PLATFORMER!! I NEEDED DUAL ANALOGUE TOUCH SENSITIVITY FOR JUMPING.

No but when the theme is to dress them up, and watch them sing, and be all cutesy...then there is a problem.

FFX-2 was is the only first final fantasy game(in the main series) where i've finished then not felt that something cool had just happened.
The end boss sucked too!

Holding down X when you need to move up/down a level is "platforming?"

And the theme definitely isn't about them dressing up and being stupid (as they stop doing that very early on.) That's like saying the theme of FFVII is to dress up and be loony too (since you have to do that a lot in the beginning as well)

I loved FFX, but didn't want to wade through this shit after watching someone play it for a few hours. So can someone answer this for me?

Was Tidus in it? If he was, what's his deal then? Is he still dead or whatever?

He's not in the Normal ending. It was another guy that looked just like Tidus, haha! I heard he was in the special ending though. But I didn't bother getting that...

I never played FFX. Was the girl in that a magical popstar as well?
No. She was a summoner. You could sort of say she was kind of like a priestess. About as far away from magical popstar as you can possibly get.

He came back in the good ending. Although the special ending that followed the good ending, makes me wonder if he really did.

Tidus isn't in the game. Instead, there's Shuyin, who Tidus was based off of in the original Zanarkand. Shuyin was jailed and killed for trying to awaken a superweapon, so the Aeons didn't have enough information on him to make him a complete replica. Shuyin died with his lover (I think that's the name- it's been a year). So as a copy, Tidus was subconsciously looking for someone similar (aka Yuna).

Tidus appears in a dream of Yuna's which shows how Shuyin and the other chick really died (except it's Tidus and Yuna being shot and killed). Depending on the percentage completion of the game, you can decide to bring Tidus back at the end of the game or not. If you do, the sequence with Tidus swimming to the surface after the end of FFX finishes, and the Gullwings find him. Yuna and Tidus say something to each other and they start running to the shore together. It goes kinda as follows

Tidus: You know, you've changed.

Yuna: Well, you've missed a few things.

Tidus: I want to hear all about it!

Yuna: It all began when I found this sphere of you... (repeating one of the first lines in the game)

The camera moves upward during this final exchange, and Yuna's final line is said as we have a view of a clear blue sky.

Sequence goes like this.

1000 years ago, men fought the machines. Shuyin tried to release some ultimate machine for his own agenda, but was killed. Dying by his side was Lenne, a summoner.

The summoners that died became fayths. They dreamt up Zanarkand and its population based on their own civilization from 1000 years. Tidus happens to be dreamt after Shuyin.

You have to be joking.... RIGHT?!?!

Surely that's not the plot.

That's not the plot. The plot is about Spira coping with the aftermath of the defeat of Sin in the present, not what happened 1000 years ago.

As the result of the new affinity for machinas, alot of the ancient machines/technology, such as the dresssphere, were dug up, fixed up, and re-used. Including the sphere that shows Shuyin/Tidus, which jump started the whole adventure.

The Tidus/Zanarkandians are a dream of the fayth was established in FFX.

God, this game was so horrible that I'm still trying to forget about it. I think I'd be less embarassed playing the Star Wars games...

Funny how it's never even said in the game that Tidus is a copy of Shuyin...

mark your spoiler...

He's not a copy, recreation, blah blah. They are not the same person. Everyone in Zanarkand are a dream of the fayths.

Maybe the game didnt' specifically tell you Tidus came from Shuyin, but it's implied. Unless there's a 3rd Tidus looking guy(<----Insert Nomura joke here) running around to base Tidus on.

FFX-2 bothered me a lot less than FFX (which I hate). At least FFX-2 is honest about what it is, and it does get a lot better than the first 15 minutes. Ugh, ugh and ugh.

FF-X-2 is about fan service, for fans that couldn't get enough of FF-X. Heh !

I bought and played it for an hour, ripped all the FMVs and it was in the cabinet since then.

And I had also bought the milking addition X-2 Int+Last mission, but never actually played it. Ha ha ha !

I meet you criterea and think FFX-2 is the most embarrasing piece of shit software ever designed. I got embarrassed playing by myself.......everything from the gameplay, story, music, and characters was a complete let down.

I enjoyed all of the ~50 hours I put into it (aside from those awful, painful minigames on the Thunder Plains and Calmlands) - and I'd like to go through it again sometime. I loved the fast-paced battles (which I could barely keep up with at first) and the costume switching, and no, I didn't play for ultimate minmaxing and system exploits; I tried to balance my ability levelling between several costumes for each character. The story was lighthearted enough that I didn't expect a masterpiece out of it, and while it didn't take the convolutions your usual FF plot does, it was nice to see for once what happens after the world is 'saved' in the FF fashion. Every new dressphere made me want to see all it had to offer, and while I usually hate Nomura, I loved seeing the costume variations by character and the wide variety of abilities. So much to see, to do, to explore in each chapter - it was candy for me.

I didn't like FFX's super-on-rails exploration or character progression, nor Tidus' corny sentimentalizing, so X-2 ended up being exactly what I'd wanted out of FFX.

Needless to say, if you don't like X-2 from the start, you won't like it at all.

FFX-2 was really a freebie for easy $$$. Really lacking in taste.
Oh and please don't say FFX again in this thread, it's a serious sin.
