Final Fantasy XVI devs may be hinting at a Switch 2 port

One of the few good things about this game is that the graphics are sometimes nice.
Playing it at 540p 20-30fps isn't going to do it any favors

I don't care whether it is a good FF, or not, and I say that as someone as long time FF fan.

FF entries themselves were always vastly different experiences to me, including even FFX, and FFX-2.

It just needs to be a good game in its own right.

It's like a 7/10 action game combined with a 4/10 RPG.
If they had made a proper 15-20 hours action game it could have been cool. But as it is, it just isn't good, not "as a FF" but simply as a game.

...

I put on block everyone in this thread who made a negative comment.

It's coming at some point and will be a GKC.

Of course, but Rebirth as is... is about 150 GB. That's a very high % of the internal drive space. Surely they could/will cut stuff down but I wonder how much effort that would be.

I don't think they could sell the Twin Pack and expect people to have room to install both games.

Agreed, I honestly couldn't care less whether it's a "real Final Fantasy", it's just a lousy game. And I was 100% on board with the new direction, and I thought the demo was awesome.
The more negative opinions I hear about this game, the more I am convinced it is a perfectly fine title to play.

Lol so you're going to white knight for a 2 year old game you haven't played (even though you're a "long time fan"), then block the people who have played it and say something negative about it? Are you okay?

I won't actually bother blocking anyone.

And yes, while I haven't played the game myself, I saw enough to know that it is far from something bad.

Square is out to torture everyone with this shitty Final Fantasy.
As an action game it's an Ok game, as a FF is absolute crap.

FFXVI is a good game. Not what I want from a Final Fantasy JRPG, but I disagree with those acting as if it's a terrible game.

FFXV, was kind of a bad game.
I was with you until the last sentence.
I loved FF15 and it's one of my favs.

FFXVI is a good game. Plenty of faults but I believe if the blueprint here was expanded on for a sequel it would be incredible.

Better side quests. A reason to explore. Bring back actual rpg mechanics and progression. Multiple character selection in combat. A little tighter pacing. Give us a real hard mode option for veterans for combat.

Many of these things ff7 remake part 1 suffered from and part 2 fixed but then introduced all of its own issues.

The issue with square is these teams work separately and don't learn from one another. Plus once one team finishes an entry they don't get to work on the next game to improve. A new team comes in and strats from scratch.

It's a shit work structure.

It's a game clearly made for Western audiences, both in form and content. Paradoxically, that's also why it isn't well received.

It reflects how some Japanese developers perceive Western players — as brash and only interested in action-heavy games.

But the success of Baldur's Gate 3 has shown the opposite: there's a real appetite for games with deep, complex mechanics.

It'll be interesting to see if the Switch 2 can handle the technical side — honestly, that's the only thing I'm curious about.

I LOVE Expedition 33 but I don't want every turn based game have parry and dodge.

I do want to see turn based in mainline FF but more in style of FFX, Bravely or Octopath.

Oh, totally. I didn't mean the same mechanics I mean make something good and original with what ever tweaks they decide to their mechanics and what we know as turn based combat.

Octoptah II was great to me. Loved it.
