Doesn't look like Switch 2 will be scarce at launch?

Anecdotal I know but I've had two emails. One from Shopto.net which bumped me from not in the first shipment to getting on launch. Amazon have also sent an email saying I don't need to request an invite because they will be making general availability too.

Also seen on reddit the same from amazon.de etc

Price putting people off?

If it's not scarce scalpers will make it scarce. Just look at the 9070xt and how that card with stock piling since December got rinsed out in a day. And it was a fucking AMD card.

My advice to everyone is that if you even remotely want a Switch 2, get your preorders in and start buying now. Because this time right now, will be the cheapest time you can buy a Switch 2 for the next 3-4 years.

Amazon didn't say no need to request an invite. It said they've sold out and might get some for general sale later?

I got the same after trying to get an invite, nice spin though.

Sold out at Currys, Very, Agros, Shopto and Game also as far as im aware. Maybe they'll get more stock as Nintendo diverts it away from the USA ;)

Very have some bundles available still. MK and Bananza for £499 delivered.

It will definitely be scarce at launch. It won't last nearly as long as PS5 because of mostly the chip shortage, covid and Nintendo producing more launch units than ever before.

Scalpers only make things scarce when people actually want them for the price listed.

Someone tried scalping a PS5 Pro on a craigslist-like site we have here.. You should have seen the comments mocking him lol.

ah yeah that's true. the difference is that demand for PS5 Pro is way below the demand for Switch 2. The scalpers will go crazy with this one.

buy your Switch 2s now, folks. This might be your last chance for the next 2 years.

Only cos Nintendo are notorious for practicing artificial scarcity. It won't last long, especially when demand seems to be quite low from what I can tell. I've checked availability in multiple European countries and it's readily available. Demand might increase by the holidays and might be hard to get then though

Over the last 20 years, they tend to take a conservative approach to production. They didn't anticipate how massively successful the Wii would be, and coming off the underwhelming performance of the WiiU, they held back again — though not as severely as with the Wii, since the new system became more readily available a bit sooner.

It sounds like Nintendo is trying to have as much stock as possible for launch, so it may not suffer the shortages that PS5 did. But who knows, maybe the tariffs and economy will keep a lot of people from buying it where they otherwise may have.

I hope so, in Canada pre-order will open April 9th and i hope I can secure pre-order.

I work there, an employee can't have access to this kind of information, especially if he works in a store.
Only people in headquarters could know something like this and not that many.
Are there a lot of preorders?
Yes.
When can we have the numbers?
In a week or maybe two but not this early. 😂

Let's just vote. I don't think it'll be difficult to get for long, if at all (first month is whatever).

For a quick buck, this isn't the item to scalp.

I'm not liking this one bit. It's honestly pushing me towards NOT pre ordering and enjoying Death Stranding 2 on my PS5 Pro instead.

I love Nintendo and their games but I... I think I can wait? The 90 euro pricetag for physical games has also reduced the hype for me.

I think it will be difficult to have the biggest launch ever when it's not the holiday period. But lets see.

I remember when Ireland transitioned from the Irish Pound to the Euro the number went from IR£45 for games to €60, which I thought made it look very high. Who would have thought a few decades later it would be 50% higher again (€90). Shaking my head.

I don't know....scalpers are gonna scalp regardless but I don't think you're going to see anything like the first two years of PS5. People had stimulus checks, were stuck at home with extra money because the economy hadn't completely opened up until like 2022/2023. Fast forward to 2025 and crushing inflation has removed alot of fat from people's budgets to overspend on a new console, plus it sounds like Nintendo is going to have more stock than Sony had due to chip shortages and everything else fucking up the pipeline 4 years ago. So much of the PS5's insane scalping environment was driven by FOMO that it was practically impossible to get one through normal channels and reasonable effort, so it created a perpetual hype cycle until supply finally caught up.

Either package available to pre-order in Ireland......

I used a VPN to switch to the UK store and there are a few available throughout Northern Ireland too, don't know if they deliver to mainland UK though.
Loads available in the UK right now. looks like they opened up a second wave of stock allocations.

Top seller on Amazon so maybe Nintendo actually did sort their inventory out this time. Hopefully everyone who wants one gets one, would make a nice change.

IDK, I'm in Colombia, that means I get it easily tho expensive af, but demand will be very high in US, you can bet your ass on it

Six days after pre-orders started and still not sold out in Ausjailia.
Switch1 and PS5 were sold out in a day I believe.
Could be to do with allocations though.
Or the price. Expendable income is becoming quite an issue it seems.

I asked FNAC support via chat today if they'll be able to honor every preorder of the Switch 2 as I saw on Amazon and other sites that it was available at some times but not all the time like FNAC.
He told me that they won't be able to ship every order in time for the release date and will work with suppliers to get more units, but that my order was still early enough for release date.
Is that true ?

Anyway, if Nintendo send me the email tomorrow I'll preorder there too, if both will be shipped, I'll sell one to my boss as he wants one too.

Scarcity for the next 3-4 years? Highly doubt it.

worst case scenario, but that doesn't mean it's gonna be easy to get an MSRP Switch 2 for 2 years after launch at least.

after all the bullshit going on recently with scalpers, i dont trust any new market releases...

Still registered for the nintendo store pre-order in Canada with the whole eligible requirements.

I ain't touching a switch 1 game until I have switch 2.

There should be a lot more switches at launch. It'll sell out and it'll be scalped. Nintendo should have made it $50 more expensive.
