Nintendo Switch 2 likely to remain scarce until next spring: analysts

I mean selling 3.5m units in 4 days then 1.5m units in the next 3 weeks shows demand(cough cough "supply problems") dipped

Probably right to get out in front of the problem and act like demand is still at a fever pitch

It's a lot of money to play Mario Kart. Yeah, there's the GameCube shit but the fact that they're gatekeeping that stuff from being playable on the Switch 1 is fucking lame. Shove the $80 first party games, too. Huge turn off.
I bought day one and for me worth every penny, I'm having blast with Mario Kart, Bravely Default and Fantasy Life I and soon Donkey Kong Bananza.

I simply bought because it has games I enjoy and I have the money to buy.

yes they should harv sells 30 millions in first 3 weeks annnnd 100 millions by end of year oohoohoo

I can't imagine it's going to be easy to find until well after the holiday season.

For those who haven't yet purchased one: there's not much exclusive software for the device yet and at the rate they are pumping out consoles, there's more likely to be manufacturing issues for early adopters.
its... available almost everywhere? what kind of shit the author of this article is smoking ?

The only place where it probably can't be found is the Japanese exclusive version of the Switch 2, because it's much cheaper than the standard global version. Maybe the US in some areas too.
This guy is just a troll. Interested to see his reason for a "ban" someday soon.

??? I've opened amazon just now to check, and both versions are available. The console is widely available. Nintendo came prepared for this launch.

Amazon doesn't even sell Switch 2.

Know what pastime I'm enjoying a lot more lately than going on GAF to read threads full of Switch 2 opinions masquerading as facts?

Playing a Switch 2 lol

Looks like Amazon Middle East has plenty of Switch 2 guys.
Not just middle east in the UK as well as Europe they do sell switch 2.

Maybe in the USA they don't? I do remember there being some weird spat between nintendo and Amazon.

In the UK it's incredibly easy to get a hold off. I mean it does eventually sell out, but if you want one it's not much effort to order it.

It looks like they sell S2 stuff on Amazon UK but I don't see the system. At this point I'm pretty sure all the "u can just walk in n buy one" comments are from countries Nintendo hardly even counts sales? I mean JP, EU, NA are the real hotbeds or "battleground markets".

The crazy thing is. If Nintendo made TWENTY MILLION and 1 million were left on the shelf. People would say "lol its so easy to get, no demand it sucks". if they sold every last unit, yes ALL 20, then people would go "lol evil Nintendo supply blocked u to create fomo". There is literally nothing they can do, the same people would flip just to complain. While the facts are completely irrelevant (see: today)

Did a quick check and they are available locally in stores here in canada (bestbuy, walmart) but not for online shipping. Amazon too but by invitation.

I guess you better make the drive up north.

I don't believe that the ease of obtaining something indicates a lack of demand.

Who cares
Me. I got one, but my son wants one desperately for his birthday. So, I'm wiping mine and reboxing mine for him.

I'm in the middle of Bravely Default and looking forward to DK, but I can't find another Switch 2 anywhere.

I got some long plane rides coming up and I'm going to have to just play my SteamDeck or Switch 1 like some asshole.

Well that's better than over here where it's non-existent online. Is it normal for them to force bundles on you over there, or is that just the last retailer with stock because they force bundles lol
Argos and shopto aren't forcing bundles.

I think Nintendo has done a great job having stock available for this launch. They spent a fortune on inventory. And not enough on the LCD screen ;p

Clearly the scarcity isn't true across the board. Seems that in the US, the console is extremely hard to find, but is in other countries. Makes me wonder if those countries are oversupplied or just not as much demand as in the US.

They were available for a several days post-launch in my small hometown, but I've not seen them in the weeks since.

My hometown is such that Walmart is your only option for many things(though we do have other grocery options) so I'm up there many times a week at different times to pick up various things. We do have a GameStop in the same area

Its not a very affluent town and I know it took the GameStop here at least 4 days to fill their pre-order allocation. But you still can't find any right now here.

But imo, as someone who was in gaming retail for a long time, no one manufactures artificial scarcity like the Big N.

Which store? None available in my area.
Last I checked more have been sold in the Americas than Japan, but this 'scarcity to drive hype' bullshit narrative needs to come to an end; just wait for the spin cycles to hit overdrive when June's numbers are released.

I thought the Switch 2 was surprisingly easy to purchase. Yes, it sells out quick online but those online stores usually get new stock a few days later.

The PS5 was much, much harder to get hold of when it launched.

I think price is somewhat of a deterrent at least here in Canada. You end up spending over $800 on the Mario Kart bundle after taxes. That's almost $600 usd before any extra games or accesories. There is some sticker shock going on for sure.

I got mine late on the day of release right off the shelf with no issue. However, I've been looking for a second pretty much since then with no luck.

Nothing will likely ever be as bad as the PS5. There were a ton of factors between covid, chip shortages, online bots, Walmart jumping the pre-order dates, etc.

Can walk into any store and buy one, Nintendo trying to push FOMO to get people to buy this beta version with a poor screen. Ill wait for the OLED.
If people can walk into any store and get one then how is Nintendo pushing FOMO?

Both things can't be true.
