My friends recently got into this new stuff, like weed, called Salvia or something like that. It's legal in Canada (saw a friend buy a bag from a bong store that didn't sell any pot)... it apparently makes you crazy for 3-5 minutes and then it's just done. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of it, and if it's safe at all?

It's not safe, A few kids killed themselves in Quebec a few months ago while being on it ( I cant remember the details at all, sorry). It really drives people crazy for a while. There were a few articles about it and a a report on it on tv. They were sending kids (aged 13-14) in those 'pot shops' to buy them with hidden mics and cameras, but when the reporter came in with cameras the people were like 'uuh.. we dont sell that.. we never did!"
