Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Been having random crashes playing Mario Galaxy 1 and Xenoblade. My rig is a 4670k CPU with GTX 760. I haven't overclocked yet since I never done it and it looks a little overwhelming but could the CPU really be the problem? I'm using Dolphin 4.0.2 btw

I'm playing through the GC version of Metroid Prime on a 4570k with a GTX 760. Having issues where the game pauses for a few seconds - 0 fps, nothing happens, no sound, last for about four seconds every minute or so. Seems like it happens when it needs to load something. Using 4.0.2. Runs flawless otherwise.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

No your CPU is not the issue, a 4670K at stock should run both games flawlessly. Since you bought an unlocked CPU and if you have the appropriate motherboard, there's absolutely no reason not to overclock that CPU. There's plenty of tutorials out there.

To both: Use the absolute latest development versions, they contain a lot of fixes almost worth a new stable version soon. The current stable version (4.0.2) should not be used anymore.
If you're both using a global Dolphin directory, make sure you delete everything but your saves of course.

Tks man, played for about an hour with the most recent version and didnt have any hangups :). Ill read the OC guide in the OP, I have an ASUS z87 plus mb and an appropriate cooler for my CPU so I really should use them decently :P.

Your PC needs bluetooth to allow your Wiimote to connect to it. The sensor bar is just a few infrared lights for the Wiimote to get its position.

I bought a sensor bar for this and could use it decently but my wiimote was very choppy on my screen, it even worked better when I used 2 candles near the screen instead of the sensor bar >_<

It is still doing it, but far, far, less. Far more tolerable. What an easy fix, thanks!

Why delete the global dolphin directory? I have some custom ini's there, and isn't the whole point of the global directoy so that when you update you don't have to lose all those files?

For the sake of simplicity, and for their particular situation I said that you could delete what's in the directory (excluding your saves ofcourse) while in reality there's a couple of folders that really need to be purged. Folders like GameSettings and ShaderCache in particular.

and isn't the whole point of the global directoy so that when you update you don't have to lose all those files?
Yes that's the point of it, but when you update from an ancient build like 4.0.2 to the latest development build, where over a thousand commits have been applied to, you need to get your files up to date.

Does anyone have any experience with Dolphin on Android? Bought a controller today and I'm riding the train for two hours tomorrow and would very much enjoy playing Wind Waker on the go.

Dolphin on Android is designed to future proof it.

Android isn't powerful enough to run Dolphin now. But when it is, the developers want Dolphin to already be available for it, so they've begun working on it now.

I haven't personally tested it to see what performance is like, but the above is what the developers have said on it.

My guess is that some lower impact games may run fine, but I wouldn't expect much at all from Wind Waker.

You can use the one that the Wii U uses if you leave your wii u on. Or you can buy a wireless one, a USB one, or use two tealights.

I wonder, how do I sync my Wii controller with my computer? I did it once by holding down the red sync button on the controller but I'm not sure of the actual steps. How do I do it?

So i tried running DKCR because I can't stand the waggle controllers on the system but the game lags really bad when the background is crazy (like a waterfall). It's nigh unplayable at times. Anyone have any suggestions for config stuff to make it play smoother? 60FPS is more important than resolution.

Go into your bluetooth settings in windows and hit scan, then either press Sync on your Wii remote, or hit both 1+2 at the same time.

Pair em together, good to go.

I just can't seem to do it.

It is asking me for a passkey.

"A remote device needs a Bluetooth Passkey to create Paired relationship for future connections. Please use the same passkey on this device as on the remote device."

Don't set it up on windows at all. You don't need to. Doing so fucks it up.

Just go to the Options in dolphin, click connect real Wii remote and then turn on the remote. Done.

I can't see where I'm supposed to do that?

Dolphin just crashes when I do that.

I did make it work once but now I can't for some reason. =(

Do I need the program "BlueSoleil" running in the background?

Not sure what BlueSoleil is, sorry.

Do you have a newer model Wii remote? The one that's compatible with the Wii U?

If so then you need to use the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack and follow this guide.

I want to try the Insane Slug Texture Pack on Zelda: Twilight Princess soon enough.

Anyone tried it yet? Satisfied?

I want to DL it, but my bandwidth is almost full at home and I can't DL torrents at my job, so unless someone have a direct link to somewhere I could DL it, I'm screwed until July 1st. D:

I've finally got Resi REmake to work properly on build r6505. I was getting choppy delayed audio any time i'd try resi on any build of dolphin, until i turned off triple buffering and v-sync in nvidia control panel.... man i'd been trying to get dolphin to run resi properly for years now and always got audio issues with it, never thought to turn off T-buffering and V-Sync. Working now anyway!

You do know that r6505 is absolutely ancient at this point? There's almost no reason to be using a Dolphin build that old.

Why not ? REmake plays great with it.

Because you're missing out on roughly four years worth of emulation improvements. If you're only using Dolphin to play REmake and it works fine for you then I guess there's not much of an issue but in general there's no real benefit to using a build that old.

So I have uninstalled BlueSoleil but I still can't connect the Wii mote.
It's weird because it have connected one time before.

Should I hold in the sync button or the 1+2 buttons?

At least it's installed correctly and can be seen by my Bluetooth:

It doesn't need to be registered with windows at all for it to work in Dolphin. In fact, that's probably interfering with it.

Ok. and yeah im only interested in Dolphin to play Remake, thats why im not too bothered what build, once it works.

Did 4.0 make much of a difference for OS X performance, or is it still slower than the Windows build?

Uh, both. The OS X version will likely be slower than the Windows builds for the foreseeable future. If you want to get the best performance out of Dolphin try using Boot Camp.

Anyway, it automatically installs the drivers when I try connect my Wii remote to my computer. And nothing happens when I click "refresh" and then "okay". The Wii remote just keeps blinking.
