Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

You know what's best about playing DKCR on Dolphin? You can map the "wiimote shaking" to a button.

Possible on console as well, as long as you have a homebrew enabled console :).

right click the game and enable dlist cache and block merging. make sure you're also on a semi recent build. that might help a bit.

That stuff was already on. I tried OpenGl mode, but that didn't seem to make a difference either; but I tried a new build and that seems to have gotten rid of the suddenly missing sounds at least.

Could it be, that it runs slower because I have the PAL version of the game? Or does it ran at 50frames native? It doesn't stutter and the music doesn't feel slower than it should be, but DK doesn't move as fast as on the Wii.

I'd think any official high-res rendering (unlikely as it is) would always output 4:3-only games pillarboxed.

Yeah, who the hell said anything about stretching a 4:3 game to 16:9 or using the widescreen hack? Anything official wouldn't do that.

Have you tried ticking the use EuRGB60 option (I'd assume that would enable PAL60 and thus 60Hz). That said, I still get some games running at 50FPS...with no speed impact

But music wouldn't run slower as sound isn't linked to screen refresh rate anymore.

Edit: I finally worked out how to get Klonoa to run full speed at 1080p...turn off Anti-aliasing...:lol
so it looks a little rougher, I'll live...

Would there be any boost to Dolphin at the moment from a 6 core processor, or does it still only make use of 2?
No, aside from playing 3 games of Super Smash Bros Brawl at the same time at 60 fps (yes, I tried it).

Using a regular controller or keyboard is the only way I'll play horizontal Wiimote games.

I don't think the PAL60 option even works.

can someone please tell me why my GC animal crossing looks like an infrared heat image?

So I need a new DVD drive to dump Wii games? Ugh.

One good method is have a portable harddrive hooked to a Wii, with USB Loader installed on that Wii.

Then backup the games with the USB Loader. Move the hard drive to the PC and play.
Of course depending on how your drive is formatted (say NTFS or FAT) then you may need to convert said backup to ISO at this point with something like Wii Backup Manager. Then play.

EDIT: Selected wrong quote.

Or you could... you know... acquire backups of games you already own from the cloud...
Is this considered OK by EMU-GAF?

I'm wondering this as well because I've since lost my ability to backup my GCN games for that same DVD drive reason. And I've been wanting to backup my "Zelda : Collectors Edition Disc" (the one that everyone had to jump through some hoops to obtain it back in the day) in order to finish off digitizing my GCN Zelda collection.

The question was, how to do I re-map controls in DKC Returns.
I want to know as well to see if anyone ever did come out with one for Metal Slug Anthology

Should be able to dump from Wii to SD or Wii to PC via wifi. Need a homebrewed console.

The drives needed to dump Wii games can usually be found for pretty cheap on ebay ($20-$30).

How resource intivensive is F-Zero GX compareed to other gamecube games? Right now I only have F-Zero, Animal Crossing, and Four Swords dumped to compare how they run. F-Zero will fluctuate between 30-60FPS (Though I haven't played with the settings that much yet), and Animal Crossing and Four Swords get a solid 60 FPS until I start trying to apply AA (The Video card cost $20, what can you expect). All of this is at 1920x1080 mind you (Though I don't think F-Zero ran any better at 640x480)

I bet you turned a filter on by mistake, The 16 bit filter.

Anyone know why my FPS won't go higher than 60 in DKCR? I used both Auto and 60 with the framelimit option, no dice.

Got a Phenom II X4 940, a GTX 460 and Vista32

Do you have audio throttle on? You can find that under DSP. If so turn it off.

Are you forcing V-Sync somewhere? Check under "Graphics" or the Nvidia Control panel. I get around 80 FPS on my i7@3.5 Ghz using R6517

No V-Sync in Dolphin nor the Control Panel.

:(

Yeah, won't go higher than 55% speed. Maybe it's an overall performance problem? My FPS range from 20 to 35.
I followed the OP step by step to set Dolphin up and later on I tried the DKCR guide on the dolphin board.
Does Dolphin really need such a beast of a PC? My specs are by no means outdated (hell, i got this graphics card last week!)

I have an i7-875k (@ 3.2Ghz, haven't really OCd yet) and GTX 580 and get dips to about 55 quite a lot.

thats exactly what it was. the shader setting, thanks.

im not sure this this dolphin thing is worth the trouble of changing settings back and forth for each game. i only care to use it for my GC games and i dont have that many anyway

I rarely have less than 5 or so builds at a time and I label them as what ever game they are configured for. Also, it helps me stay a lot more focused on finishing games.

Most of the shots I had off all the AA and such, so they are very jaggy (Though at 60FPS, you don't notice this at all), but here is a quick shot of Top Ride with all the fancy effects on while I try to find someplace to upload all the others to.

Oh, just uploaded them all to an Microsoft photo album like you do.

I'll give a more detailed run down of my settings later tonight or tomorrow, but here is what I noticed about Kirby Air Ride:
- At 1920x1080, with no AA and 2x anisotropic filtering, I got a solid 60FPS on almost all level, dipping to 50FPS on some stages. This is with a stock 2.8Ghz AMD Phenom II X4 925, and a GeForce 9500.

- Music can randomly cut out at the start of a race, or get stuck in an infinite loop. Retrying the stage often fixes it.
- In race hud doesn't need any playing with to get to look good, but the menu is really screwed up with widescreen. Not a bid deal if you know where things are, but it can make the text obscured.
- Had the game randomly crash on me 4 times, twice when just taking a screen shot.
- Textures in City Trail seem to be a bit screwed up.

G4? Try G3.
Also, the 360 and PS3 PowerPC cores don't support Out-of-Order execution so it's not as simple as you think.

You are correct on both counts. I had forgotten that it's G3-based. That said, the PS3 CPU (and X360) are not full-out PowerPCs as the G3/G4/G5 were. There are a lot of differences in the way they are made, including the lack of OOOE.

So I was messing around with the video plugin settings of the latest build I've been playing Twilight Princess (GCN) on ,I ended up switching the plugins back to DX9 and putting all my settings back to normal to run Twilight Princess as I used to...

now the top left quarter of the screen is all blurry.... help me please.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot... (EFB Scaled Copy, DUH)

i cant get my ocarina of time to work without stuttering...god how frustrating
Wait Ocarina of Time? You are probably better off playing the N64 version of it on Project 64 rather than with that 4 pack gamecube disc.

Loved how you choosed a Wind Waker inspired screen to showcase Smash Bros ... i mean .. this thread could have been named "Dolphin |OT| Of Beautiful WindWaker Screens" xD

Sorry if these have been asked before but... (checked first couple pages)

Is it possible to use a Dualshock 3 with this?

Is there a guide for Chibi Robo?

And is an i5 750 + ATI Radeon HD 5850 + 4GB DDR3 enough to run these games properly at 1600x900?

As long as the controller works on your PC. I use my snes pad, 360 pad, and ps3 arcade stick without a problem.

My system is pretty close to yours (i7 860) and I get pretty good performance with dolphin. A little overclock, and you'd really be killing it.

Awesome

No word on a Chibi Robo guide?

If there is no guide, how hard is it to get it running well with out one? Loads of trial and error?
