Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

So I tried the LLE Recompiler and the game (well, ALL the games) don't want to even boot. So I don't know how to make this work, I saw someone talking about extracting some files from my wii to put them in my Dolphin's folders. Is it possible for anybody to explain how?
(I'm not sure if this is a 'banning' subject though, don't hesitate to warn me if I'm asking too much right now.)

If there is any solution to make that bugged corner in S&P2 go away, don't hesitate, I'm still playing with it XD

Oh, I almost forgot, got the DKC Returns input lag problem too. But the game looks beast! :D

Now here is a question, I wanted to try booting Wii games directly from disk, new releases of Dolphin seem to have this feature but i can't seem to get it to work.
Before you people reply that you need a special DVD drive to read Wii games I do possess such a drive and have used it in the past to dump Wii and Gamecube games, can't seem to get it to work though for dolphin, just seems to load for a bit and goes back on the main screen. Any ideas why? Does the feature even work? Is it even worth bothering?

Hmmm I have some questions: what's the difference between Dolphin rev xxxx and Dolphin 2.0? Because for example WW runs like utter crap on Dolphin 7669 (newest one I installed) no matter the settings while Dolphin 2.0 is a lot faster and even with 2.25x SSAA it runs fine, PN 03 runs like at 180% if uncapped as well. However WW's sound doesn't work on Dolphin 2 but it does work on 7669 and Dolphin 2.0 seems to have less settings and it's not being updated/nobody uses it here?

There's no reason to be using v2, it's over a year old and is likely causing you problems that aren't relevant anymore. It's an arbitrary difference in the name is all. All the different revisions represent an update past the one before it. When they have a revision they specifically want to release to the general public, they stick a version number on it. V2 is just some revision from around r5300+, V3 is somewhere in r7600+.

Thought I'd drop by and post a few more Tales of Symphonia battle screens. I took off the HUD for your viewing pleasure.
How does the game run? And what Dolphin version are you playing it on? It looks pretty good.

I'm sorry if you've already answered those questions.

Oh... thanks, I get it now. I'll stop using v2 then and I'll make sure all my versions are 64 bits like Hitoribhoshi adviced. The difference in performance must certainly have a reason. I'll post again if I manage to get something running fine :D

So I've just ordered a new Dell XPS 17 laptop and was wondering how well It'll run Dolphin. the main specs are:

Intel i7 2630QM 2.0GHz
3GB Nvidia GeForce GT 555M
6GB RAM

Anyone played Metroid Other M with a 360 controller? Does it work well?

'Well' is a bit subjective, but it's playable. I made a config for the 360 controller but because of the nature of the controls, actions ingame become a bit more complicated.

It can be boosted to 2.9GHz.

That's better definitively, but yet, games like SMG1/2 usually demand a cpu clock of, aprox, 3,7/3,8 Ghz to run at full speed.

Many other will work perfectly, of course.

I played Other M with a controller and mouse. I created a profile where Dolphin would think the remote was pointing at the screen when I moved the mouse. I'm really not a fan of the sideways wiimote.

So you had to keep the mouse constantly moving to stay in first person? That sounds fucking awful.

There IS an ocarina hack that allows you to fire missiles from 3rd person view. I wonder if that wouldn't be more ideal. I've had that cheat set up to play on actual hardware, but haven't gotten around to experimenting with it yet. Am I wrong in assuming such codes can be easily used in the emulator?

Cheats are straight up implemented in the menus. You can retrieve all the cheats for a GC/Wii game from the wiird db with a single click, then check the boxes to activate the ones you want.

The real bummer are the first person controls. Since you activate it by mimicking the pointer not being on the screen, you have to bind a button to the command to hide the pointer and hold it down whenever you want first person. Then to look around you'd have to hold down whatever button is bound to B.

General_Tab.jpg
Config / General Tab / Basic Settings
  • Dual Core: Always on, the only game I ever had it off for was for the Metroid Prime Series and that was fixed.
  • Idle Skip: You will pretty much always want this on, very few games need it off.
[*]Cheats: This just allows you to toggle on features that GameShark would have allowed you too.

  • "Am I wrong in assuming such codes can be easily used in the emulator?"
    >I suppose you're not.

Edit: you beat me to it^^

No answer then? Oh well. I guess I'll just stick to ISOs but I was just wondering why it never worked.

Anyway, a more important question, anyone have a config for Muramasa PAL? Doesn't boot no matter what I tried on any rev I tried. The length seems fine so I doubt the dump was bad.

It runs pretty well. Faster than the other GC games I tried (Wind Waker, Mario Galaxy, and Melee). Minor lag in battles against huge enemies or many enemies. The worst part is the music is kind of screwed up... some of the instruments randomly don't play. You can hear it here.

Due to some complicated circumstances I don't have the computer I used to run Dolphin anymore, sorry. Those screens are actually from a while back and I just remembered to post them.

Using LLE audio should fix the music glitches in Symphonia

I use it in a few games, it works well enough but it sometimes causes glitches (laggy or scratchy audio). One of the options lets you dedicate an entire core for LLE emulation, which minimizes the performance hit.

Sorry if it's already been covered, but is it possible to get Sonic Colors running at 60 fps? It seems to be locked at 30 for me. Thanks if you can help me! :D

It's supposed to run at 30fps (Menu and World Map at 60). I was just playing it a moment ago.

If anyone runs into audio stuttering issues with Colors, I recommend trying LLE. It has made the game run much better on my end. YMMV.

do any of you guys experience audio stutters from time to time?

like, say if there's a sound effect for a 'BANG!' ...it might go 'B-B-B-BANG!'. heheh.

i'm wondering if this is somewhat of a common experience, or just my shit house luck?

I had issues with Other M's gameplay and controls (a sideways Wii Remote should not be the correct way to play any game, including NSMB:Wii), but look at all these Dolphin shots.

The game is friggin' gorgeous.

How does Metroid Prime 3 play on Dolphin atm? Still pretty shaky? Was thinking about picking it up.

my specs: i5 2500k oc'd to 4.8ghz , 8gb ram , gtx 570

might want to note that that is the ending for Metroid: Other M

I wouldn't have known, but now I do...

Either way, fresh install of DKCR and still have that mysterious button lag. I can't even clear 1-6 because when I press the button to jump nothing is happening and I keep dying, gonna just have to stick with playing this one on the Wii apparently.

Huh.

I didn't think Dolphin worked on a Mac...but it does, and it does well!

I put in Wind Waker and had it running 1080p 4xAA and it looked great.

I have no way to play it at the moment...but still...nice to know I have the option.

Are you using a real Wiimote for DKCR? If so, could you try something else?
