Donald Trump says UK 'doing great' after Brexit vote

The most funny part, and by that I mean not funny at all, is that the UK took barely any refugees in the first place.
Anyway, I find it quite funny, that on the day that Trump called for Nuclear disarmament (or at least a reduction in it), I came to read the response on the (generally left of centre) forums here. The Trump posts in the OP?;

Reports on Russian connections to Trump [Summaries in OP] #GoldenShowers
Trump calls NATO "obsolete"
Trump cancels MLK day visit to African American history museum
Donald Trump says UK 'doing great' after Brexit vote
Pauline Hanson invited to Trump's inauguration
I have a thought that V. Putin could be invited, and attend, Trump Inauguration.

Not even a single thread mentioning his call for reducing nuclear weapons (a policy that Obama has clearly failed on). I guess that I shouldn't be too surprised, some people care more about the person than the policies.
Not only has a thread been made since, it just got closed, but he was tying the reduction to lifting sanctions on Russia and he mentioned needing an increase mere weeks ago.

Something something Turkey, something something Syria. Something something we should take care of our own first.

Don't worry, Trump has the facts. His friend Farage told him.

Shut the fuck up you Orange idiot.

The value of the Sterling dropped to its lowest in over 30 years from just the decision to leave, lord knows what we're going to be like when we ACTUALLY leave.

Does Trump even ever, actually, just once care about telling the truth?

Yeah no we aren't, the pound dropped and hasn't recovered, racist attack rose after the referendum with some European folks feeling unwelcome in the UK.

Oh and we got a new PM despite no-one in the UK voting for her and she is awful.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. Particularly about Theresa May. Cannot stand the woman. Actually makes me look back at David Cameron with a degree of fondness.

Can't we all just agree that no-one knows how the chuff it's going to pan out....?

I mean, yeah. But we can take a wild guess:

1. May announces government goal of hard Brexit, pound tumbles.
2. May loses Supreme Court case, quickly runs a vote through parliament, backed by Labour.
3. May triggers A50 in March.
4. Negotiations go nowhere. The government attempt to secure access to the single market without freedom of movement and are told 'non'. The deadlock continues for two years.
5. A last-minute deal secures some vital industries have a transition period (the financial industry keeps its passport for a few years).
6. Britain crashes out onto WTO rules. Scotland calls for a second independence referendum. May goes to the polls in 2020 having had her reputation raked through mud. Labour, fifteen points behind in the polls and regarded by liberals as limp-wristed, get destroyed. May returns to government despite her administration being strongly disliked by 60% of the population.
7. Nigel Farage buys a nice holiday home somewhere hot.

On the positive side... And it's sad that this is a positive - the SNP selling EU membership to the populace is probably enough for Scotland to vote yes to independence. I doubt the Tories can survive if they end up responsible for Scottish independence.

In reality, he doesn't. True power lies in Congress.
I think a statement by a US president can influence a lot. It's amazing that relations between Russia and the US could be totally different just because of a change of president.

In my opinion, influence is power.

It's a unique situation because Trump and Putin appear to be collaborating quite frankly. It was clandestine, but now you can be safe with the assumption. That's not a favorable situation and weakens our power given what has transpired so far.

Text of the Trump / Times /Bild interview here : https://justpaste.it/12goy

I think it’s not good. I think it was a big mistake for Germany. And Germany of all countries, ’cause Germany was one of the toughest in the world for having anybody go in, and, uh, no I think it was a mistake. And I’ll see her and I’ll meet her and I respect her. And I like her but I think it was a mistake. And people make mistakes but I think it was a very big mistake. I think we should have built safe zones in Syria. Would have been a lot less expensive. Uh, get the Gulf states to pay for ’em who aren’t coming through, I mean they’ve got money that nobody has.

Would have been a lot less expensive than the trauma that Germany’s going through now — but I would have said — you build safe zones in Syria. Look, this whole thing should have never happened. Iraq should not have been attacked in the first place, all right? It was one of the worst decisions, possibly the worst decision ever made in the history of our country. We’ve unleashed — it’s like throwing rocks into a beehive. It’s one of the great messes of all time. I looked at something, uh, I’m not allowed to show you because it’s classified – but, I just looked at Afghanistan and you look at the Taliban – and you take a look at every, every year its more, more, more, you know they have the different colours – and you say, you know – what’s going on?

Sorry if this is the wrong place but what happens if Article 50 is triggered and after two years, nothing is negotiated between the UK and EU? Does the UK just lose everything including single market access?

According to the Treaty of Lisbon after 2 years it's cold turkey IIRC.
EU said:
3. The Treaties shall cease to apply to the State in question from the date of entry into force of the withdrawal agreement or, failing that, two years after the notification referred to in paragraph 2, unless the European Council, in agreement with the Member State concerned, unanimously decides to extend this period.

Pff, you're the United States. One amorphous blob as far as I'm concerned.

Hey, people not considering that we are in fact "United" and voting for their own personal/racial interests is what got us 4-8 years of Annoying Orange as president. Unless we can find a way to progress TOGETHER, we'll always be the Divided States.
