I think the movie poster looks sweet.

The actual movie looks like F'N CRAP.

And it's not like my standards are high. I think that DOOM's generic plot made for an awesome story in the games.

I'm not a big fan of DOOM, but I think this will be a fun movie. :lol
Not necessarily for full price, maybe once it hits the $1.50 movie theater (which should be in about 3 weeks after release)... but anyone wanting cinematic, filmmaking genius in a goddamn DOOM movie is asking for a very, very tall order.

Actually Im expecting this to be slightly better than the other 'great' videogames movies like RE and TR.

Silent Hill on the other hand, is going to be seriously great though and will become the first truly great videogame movie(trailer rumoured for October).

I really, really hope Silent Hill turns out great. Out of all the video game films made thus far, it's the one I feel has the best foundation to make a very effective, creepy, psychological horror film. *all Uwe Boll jokes aside*

Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) and the script is by Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction, The Rules of Attraction, and the upcoming Beowulf). Based on interviews, they seem to have a pretty good understanding of the game series in general.

Let me first say that I really hope the SH movie kicks all sorts of ass and owns all of us and one day enslaves the human race making us it's bitch...but I will kep my expectations as low as possible.

That said...they'll fuck it up by having a storyline that's true to the game, but failing to realize that many of the creepy parts and plot points have been copied by other movies during the last 5 years, making it seem very generic.

I was thinking too...it would be cool if the movie featured the same "noise" filter as the game. Make it subtle so it's easy for most people's eyes, but put it in there.

And if the main character had a radio on him. That alone had an awesome effect in the original game...it would be great in the movie. Well...I shouldn't say that. I would think it would be great...but I'm not a horror buff so my opinion shouldn't matter much.

Having a radio in the movie like the game would indeed be awesome.. Just hearing that radio turned on and not seeing where the "things" are but the fact you know they are in the area is creepy as hell.

it would work if they went at it like an homage to the italian horror movies that the game creators were inspired by. with that sense of the uncanny and all that. even with all that talent, though, it seems like they'll just make some average horror movie out of it rather than something special...

sold, no seriously the soundtrack of those games are fucking awesome I'm very glad they went that route, shows their respect for the game series.

That P-90 used in the poster looks a lot like an airsoft gun a friend of mine has. So cheap. :lol

The Silent Hill movie looks great but Doom looks absolutely pathetic.

Ive gotta say im impressed by the route this movie is taking, you guys are all so quick to criticise, but really this looks like the first video game movie that really looks to pay homage to the game its based on..and as a gamer thats exactly what i want to see when i go to see a movie about a game. Not some crappy re-imagining with some loose ties, and defintely not something totally different that doesnt even remind me of the source material.

Memories of Doom (1 & 2 especially) are seared into my brain, it was a huge part of my childhood, and whether or not this movie blows, if it can recreate those memories then I'll love it and im sure a lot of other people will too.

don't expect this movie to recreate your memories of Doom 1 & 2. Move forward a few years to Doom 3 and that's what you should be expecting.
