Doom: The Dark Ages releases May 15, 2025 + New Trailer and Gameplay | Xbox Direct 2025

Day 1 baby.
The Dude Dancing GIF by The Dude Perfect Show

The core gameplay doesn't seem to have been changed drastically from old skool Doom.
It just has a few touch ups here and there.
Are you going to address my post still as to why you are posting your one track mind or can we agree that you are just bored shitposting here?

Day fucking 1.

Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are the two best FPS games I've played in the past 10 years.

I rarely ever pre-order games on PC, but I will 100% get the premium edition with the DLC.

Fuck yes.

Now we have a true Panzer Dragoon comeback.

Because we have a Panzer riding a Dragoon. 😎

So, I dub thee...

PANZER DRAGOON SLAYER 🙌🏻🤨

Worried it will be too slow. I really liked eternal and being able to jump/fly thru the air with the grappling hook
During the difficulty system section of the Direct they showed a showed a difficulty slider that will increase the game speed by up to 150% of base. Guessing that will resolve some of your concerns.

Loved Doom 2016, but did not enjoy the gameplay loop of Eternal at all, even though i finished it. Felt like a chore at the end. This looks like it will be fun again. Day 1 on ps5 pro.

There were all sorts of difficulty and accessibility sliders shown. In a way it really is a Doom for modern audiences.

Sure it's great to have options, but also, how about one singular fucking vision without feeling the need to add tweaks so everyone and their dead grandmother can play? Everything doesn't need to be for everybody! Christ Im tired of this shit.

What was your post? Too many people getting butthurt to keep track of.
Feel free to look it up.
But irregardless i don't understand what pertains you to post if you have quite literally nothing to say.

There are better ways to fish for a ban.

Looks awesome.
The new weapons and abilities look fun and I really like the setting, they seemed to have slowed down the speed of combat a bit compared to Eternal which I don't mind. The more open levels seem like they'll be a blast to explore.
Also it's IdTech so not only will it look great but it will probably ran well at decent resolutions even on console.

I'm just sharing my thoughts on an upcoming PS5 game.

No idea what my ban has to do with it? The Xbox fanbase needs to realize we're discussing multiplatform releases when it comes to Xbox published games.

Never got around to Eternal and I just installed it to play ahead of this. But...they basically talked me out of it, and that I should just skip to The Dark Ages.

Happy they seem aware codex of Eternal was a total clusterfuck. Sometimes there can just be too much story, and there is no such thing as "optional"

Since I can only play FPS on handhelds due to the issues I get with vertigo, I will "hope" this comes to SteamDeck in a meaningful way or perhaps even my betrothal of a console if she is ready in time. I know folks poo-poo it but having to skip out on years of FPS previous to Switch and SteamDeck sucked ass.

The difficult presets as still there as always. "Hurt me plenty", etc.

I just can't understand id's thought process that ended in them adding high fantasy story elements with ancient gods, giant mechas and flying dragons in DooM.
You know what would be cool? Dragons and shit. Hell yeah let's do that.

Probably something like this, and they were absolutely right.

Just watched it. Things I don't like:
  • 80€ (lol)
  • Denuvo (lmao)
  • Some high-contrast colors that I think look bad. For example, just at the start of the video the shield emits a green wave and the demon (Baron?) also emits a lot of green stuff. That sucks.
Things I like:
  • The music.
  • Everything really.
Anyway, here are some new pics from the Steam store:

They turned the pinkies into a mount for the enemies? Not complaining, kinda genious even.

Looks great. Looks like they slowed things down for all the people that couldn't figure out the gameplay mechanics of the 1st 2.

The composer has been revealed to be Finishing Move.

Formed by the duo of Brian Trifon and Brian Lee White, Finishing Move has been closely aligned with Microsoft's games over the past decade, with credits on Halo 2: Anniversary Edition, Grounded, and Microsoft Flight Simulator to their name, as well as recently crafting the score for survival horror The Callisto Protocol.

Kinda bummed, hoped Andrew Hulshult would work on this but hey, I like that music in the trailer a lot so let's see what they do.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering who Finishing Move was.

Assumed Andrew was back for DA, but what I heard sounds great so no complaints that it isn't him. Guessing id wasn't impressed with his work in the Eternal DLC? Not a knock against the guy, but I think they wanted something with a different style.

Dunno, I think both him and Levy did an excellent work on Eternal's DLC.

But yeah, no complains here either if the rest of Dark Ages OST is like what's on that trailer.

So is this a prequel or DOOM Guy going in the past?
Probably a prequel. A prequel to what exactly? No idea.

DA -> DOOM 93 -> DOOM 64 -> DOOM '16 -> Eternal

I think the timeline would look like this but honestly man, I'm not sure.
