If someone gives me grief for having only played the game twice, I usually end up just following their character everywhere. Probably doesn't help at all, but I imagine it annoys them.

Good boy Chris. By doing this you're hurting your team more than the other person blaming you for being newbie. You know these trashtalkers in most cases are decent enough players; beside whining at less skilled teammates they can actually do their job, and do it good enough for team to win.

you silly man

This game isn't silly, it's serious business!!

Just had a guy remind our team we were noobs every 3-5 minutes. It would have been alright if he just told us, but he told the enemy team too through all chat. Even they got tired of it.

Well of course they have to do it over All Chat as well, so that the opposing team knows that the only reason they are winning is because Captain Godlike got saddled with a team full of noobs.

^best gif.

Ok. Will join GAF noob channel today. How feasible is it to play the game with mic off? The most practical time for me to play is late at night and talking at the mic is a no-no at those late hours.

enchantress sounds like nathan drake

Just make sure you can listen to others. Learn some of the lingo and don't forget to ping!

Thanks for the pointers in game. I'm MonolithicTentacledAbomination on Steam.

Would play again.

Heh, I sometimes worry that I may be annoying people. But I can't say no to an omni on a team. He's such a good hero. You were doing well.

I really don't talk as much as I should (as in ever). I can only really use the mic late at night but by then I'm tired and don't care. Also, the ingame mic quality is pretty bad.

Attention NeoGaf and NeoGaf noobs! We are two guys who want to play with three more guys so we have a full team and no ragers. Join our channel and write something if you feel like a game! We give 5-10 minutes from now to join. :)

I'm aware of this. I did say it was probably not doing anything good for the team. I did not however, realise there was a mute button. I will use that from now on. To be fair, out of the 4 games I've played, I only got grief in 1 game.

I was Chen and I admit I didn't really have much of a clue how to use him.

Will there ever be a different map layout, or is this it?

This is it. People have equated playing Dota on the same map to playing Football on the same pitch - you don't play on an oval pitch or have buildings on the pitch, even if it might make it more interesting. I don't doubt thoguh that people will make some more stuff when an SDK is released.

No, that's a very good analogy. Makes sense :)

All that said, there have been some clues about at least one other map in the files. Who knows if it'll ever see the light of day.

It will because Valve fans are crazy and will at the very least mine it and complete it for a mod.

Whether it will be good is a different question.

I learned today that if you get MM'd with a premade group, they will blame you for everything that goes wrong.

They will also fabricate how events played out in order to suit this purpose.

Anybody else have disconnects today? I just had 7 complete disconnects and 2 near disconnects in 1 match and 2 others in a match I eventually could rejoin. A random on our team had 3 or 4 himself but no one else on the server did.

Here's to hoping I can look forward to ogre magi after my finals this week.

PL looks boring as hell to play, a right click hero, or am I wrong?

Calling him a right-click hero is definitely selling him short. He's a blast to play with dopplewalking, long-range nuking, and mass illusions.

I'll have to give him a try then. I might be in the small camp that thinks agility carries are the most boring heroes in the game, the only one I like is FV and Syllabear.

The power of perseverance. Saw that my team randomed sniper and alchemist, picked lich, went full on solo lane creep deny. I think I was 4 levels ahead of morph at one point because he couldn't get any cs. Followed by team leading and buying wards/counter warding pulled us through. Warlock's 4 golems wrecked their shit.

*Almost lost complete hope once I realized sniper was building a shadowblade.

Who is "Defense of the Aspergers" on Steam? They're in the GAF chat channel and I just played against them in a solo queue game. They were Enigma, I was Leshrac.

So.

I've been working with Crystal Maiden today. How do I say this...she's not enjoyable to play at all. Effective, but not enjoyable at all. Picking her is basically "taking one for the team" in a way that other supports are not.

Dazzle is fun, Lich is fun, Omni is fun, Witch is fun, Shaman is fun. All the other supports can be fun...but CM? CM is depressing. Freeze, nuke, run. Ult on rare occasion. Win, but while watching everyone else get kills.

It's like being a bellhop or some shit, opening the door for everyone but you. Honestly, if I want the kind of stun she has, i'd rather play Shaman. Good nuke, 2 disables and an always-useful ult.

If you went into solo queue and played Crystal Maiden, wards and all, everyone on the team will love you. Seriously, even not playing as CM I usually do wards and everyone is so shocked when I do them.

I was actually playing with friends. And yea, I did all that shit, and yea they had no complaints. But it was stressful and frustrating because (1) it meant relying on sometimes unreliable people to do everything (and sometimes failing), (2) it's extremely difficult to farm with her (worst animation/delay in the game?), and (3) she's a glass cannon...without the cannon.

I'm used to dying 3-5 times in a game, max, while laying wood and feeling the difference I'm making. CM is like...the polar opposite. 2/8/18 may be a winning stat line with CM, but it sure as shit isn't fun to me. It feels like I'm being carried (I am) and not carrying any weight. idk.

What would be the reason to pick her over Shadow Shaman? He has 2 effective disables, a great nuke that doesn't require you to be so close to the enemy, an infinitely better last-hit animation (and a nuke that's excellent for farming), good HP, and an ult that's fantastic. And he has much better HP and offensive capabilities. I recognize her stun has advantages because she can stun and run where Shaman can't, and her HP regen can be helpful early on...but shit.

Shadow Shaman is level/item dependent and more of a pusher. CM (just played her as full hard support just now actually) is not. She can do well without levels/items.

Also I usually get a few kills here and there with her anyway. Think I only got 2/3 this game though. Which is fine, I had like 20 assists too on kills my team would not have gotten without my stun/slow.

yea, that's how my games went. It just felt uncomfortable. :(

Did not like.

very simple, one is a better support than the other and as the above was pointed out. CM is item independent

Hey, I watched the replay of that one game we had were we got rolled after a decent start. The biggest problem was that we lost every lane. Even though we were down only three kills and one tower, they had more than 5k gold advantage on us. It just snowballed from there since no one was really getting any farm to keep up with them.

We just did not have the last hits to compete with them.

Finally jumped back into this and played a couple games as Brewmaster, actually liked his character a lot and am enjoying the game a lot more. Should I keep playing as him and improving and learning, then move onto different characters?

And what items should I go for with him?
