Good lord Zeus is absurd. I cannot believe how quickly his ult recharges. I just destroyed a team pretty much by myself.

For all your Zeus-related crises.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying he is OP or anything, just hilarious to see people who are new to the game freaking out because I am getting kills from across the map. I've only played a handful of matches so the skill level is beginner.

I just got destroyed by a really good Omni and I kinda want to try him out now. Damn that repel of his, always cockblocks a good stun or two from Slar, even Amplify against their Riki didn't last long :(

We kinda got stomped (if you count a 50min game a stomp) but at least we had a good laugh at the end, even if someone on our team was feeding. We were disappointed but not raging. Probably the only loss that didn't feel so bad for once.

is there any way to disable double tap self item cast?

I think the "dota_ability_quick_cast" autoexec.cfg setting might include that.

Yeah, he's like Karthus from LoL (well, vice-versa, I guess) in that regard. As a noob, I've found him fun and relatively stress-free to play. I can fuck up plenty with him and still help.

I have the double ability quick cast disabled in options, but items still work under double tapping though.

From what I heard, Kappy was being Kappy so I could understand Hyuna's frustration.
Unfortunately, I am just not very good at this game. Any tips?
Spectate games from time to time, learn to spot the good players, mimic what they're doing in your games.

Whats a good list of beginner heroes? Lich and skeleton king keep getting picked and they're the only two heroes I can play decently so far..

MY NEW PLAYER HERO GUIDE

Tier Super Easy:
TIDEHUNTER!
VENOMANCER!
LICH!
ZEUS!
WARLOCK! (worst hero in the game though)

Tier Easy:
NIGHTSTALKER!
DAZZLE!
VIPER!
OMNIKNIGHT!
SKELETON KING!

Will you play these guys at maximum capacity? NO! Is that okay? YES!
If you are EXTREMELY new, I encourage you to either play with easy bots, play with other new gaffers in matchmaking, or try to get an inhouse going consisting of only new players.

what he said, plz don't pretend to random, pick antimage, and cry like a little girl when you get smashed with the fury of thor's
spiritbreaker's
hammer and feed like crazy.

So, bzm introduced me to Rycho.

And now I feel like I've emerged from the Sorceror's tower with some forbidden knowledge.

Expect to see Midas on every hero. Every. Hero. As well as Drow/Clinkz mid.

Anyone here willing to help teach a MOBA noob how to play? I'd like to play against bots on easy and play alongside some people who can give me tips. I'm basically completely clueless. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My Steam ID is RyanGCH. Send me a friend request, post here, or send me a PM. Would like to play very soon.

Hey fellas! Acquired a copy of this. I'm not a SUPER noob but still unfamiliar with many heroes besides the "super easy" tier + DP. Gonna play with bots per dommynick/astroboy's request..

Besides watching things and reading things, I'm not sure what else to do for now, I already have mumble. Havent played much more than 50 games of Dota1/HoN for what its worth.

edit: looks like we're in the same boat ToyMachine. heh.

^ Just hang out in the Neogaf in-game chat, and ask if other noobs wanna go matchmaking. Don't bother with in-houses or anything like that. Just get some games in, it's the only way to get better.

I always try to get some noobs/seminoobs inhouses only games up, but there's never enough people when I do ask.

id like a combo of being coached a little by somebody who's experienced and playing with other new/non-pro gaffers.

i'll check out the neogaf ingame chat.

Wonder if we will get an update tomorrow or tuesday, and then another one on thursday maybe? Would be good, and would make the normal client have at least something..

With all the super noob talk going on this page, I thought I'd throw my hat in. I just got my invite this week and have never really played dota at all besides lightly when it very first came out for WC3 custom maps. After a few games floundering around with picking random heroes, I discovered the Omniknight support. This was a natural fit for me since I play a healer role in just about every MMO I've touched.

For people new to the game, I definitely suggest Omniknight. Just follow around the best player on your team, support his kills, and see what he does as far as positioning with creeps and setting up for kills. It's exactly what I would suggest for a newcomer to TF2. Play the medic class and follow a good heavy/soldier/demo until you get a feel for the pacing of the game.

Last night my team was down like 30-60 in kills and I'd like to think we won due to the insane end game Omniknight heal abilities. Anyway, that's my noob advice coming from a noob.

Also - how do I chat all? :lol

I'm loving DOTA 2, but man do I have a hard time running any hero that's mana intensive, any tips for that? Death Prophet is by far my favorite hero, but I always end up getting ganked when I run out of mana before I can do any real damage. At least she can run away well.

If you are a new player I would recommend you to stay off "mid heroes" like Krobelous. She is not a support, she is a tanky semi-carry/pusher/solo mid hero.
Only pick mid heroes when you feel comfortable at going solo mid.

If you played LoL before you are probably used to use a lot of mana on creeps to farm, dont do it. Only cast swarm on creeps when you feel that you can get 3 creepkills or more by doing so, get a bottle and try to get all the runes.

Use your ultimate if you think you can do a lot of damage on a tower, also use it on a teamfight.

Getr tanky items also, like vanguard/hood/pipe/heart. Since they nerfed bloodstone so hard I dont see any point getting it. It is too expensive.

is there a way to ignore pings from a certain ping-spamming-for-no-reason ally? you can mute the guy by clicking the mute icon next to his name on the scoreboard, but you can't ignore his pings. his ping spams still go through

Just start with League of Legends instead. There's no reason whatsoever to start with this, at least until they get tutorials and functional matchmaking for beginners.

MY NEW PLAYER HERO GUIDE
WARLOCK! (worst hero in the game though)

Sir I do not agree with you, first of all Warlock is not that beginner friendly, beginners have a hard time understanding how to harass with hes 1st spell and use it in teamfights. Also you need to have some better micro management for his ulti. Some beginners just use the ultimate for the stun and just leave the golem alone autoattacking random shit.

However he is far from "worst hero in the game", he is one of the best teamfight support initiators with the ultimate and can do the most damage of all support heroes with his first ability.

Hes ability to also push down towers and tank the towers with the golem makes him even better.

This. I was playing with a warlock who went fatal bonds first. Amazing harass..I was loling at how gay the move was.

In all seriousness, can someone explain to me why exactly Warlock is considered so terrible? I can see why with Axe, but Warlock doesn't seem so obvious. He has a great tower pushing tool, and if he can farm enough he becomes ridiculous (four golems).

Is auto attack option is broken?i disabled it still my hero started auto attacking. Also thanks for help and tips in today's in house.I was that venomancer.

Problem is he has to farm, but has no farming abilities, he can't jungle, and there are better people to put mid. There are better initiators, such as Enigma / Tidehunter, his slow requires him to stand still and channel, it also does no damage, Fatal Bonds is pretty good though, but not worth it to put him on your team.

Consider this, would you rather have a Warlock on your team, or a Crystal Maiden / Witch Doctor / Windrunner that have actual stuns / Utility thats not on a 165 second cool down?
Please name a hero worse than Warlock.
Jakiro pretty close to Warlock tier

maaaan i randomed queen of pain and was actually having fun and then i guess the servers went down or something

something like this happens every time i random a hero and enjoy it ):
