How does the damage dealing part of Dazzle's Shadow Wave work? I just finished a game with a couple gaffers and got two kills early game totally by accident with it.

Deals physical damage in a small AoE (melee range I think) around every unit that was hit by Shadow Wave.

So chances are, you healed your team in the middle of a fight, and there was one or two unlucky heroes who were between all the healing targets.

Ah, makes sense now. I think I'll try harassing some melee with it next game like mentioned earlier, seeing how it feels pretty spamable even early on.

n0b is right in that it shouldn't be spammed unless it's really worth it, which is up to you to judge. I wouldn't suggest it unless you're confident you can get them with 3-4 hits.

Just got in today. I really love the look of the game. The spell effects, animations, the champs - all of it is great.

Been addicted to LoL for a while now, but I'm getting my ass kicked here. Not surprised, been out of Dota for many years.

Played Doombringer my first game, got crushed, but my friend tells me that was a bad choice for beginners. Going to play with Dragonknight in a few bot matches and see how that goes.

Keep in mind that the bots are really mean. They will pull off some combos that basically instagib you if you don't position 100% correctly (or have a BKB) which lower-level teams almost never do. Most of the time they'll just throw everything at you at once and not really care about chaining stuns etc. I actually do better against real players than against the bots, most of the time.

Oh, really? Interesting. Just finished a game against bots with Dragonknight and did a lot better with him than Droom Bringer. Seems pretty funny. And I love his ult.

Been watching matches mostly since receiving an invite; very new to DOTA... very intimidating game. I want to learn how to play with Drow Ranger -- so I've been mostly watching matches with Drow players.

I'm new to DotA myself but play LoL at a high level. If you are completely new to this genre, I would not recommend a squishy hard carry like Drow Ranger. Even though she's simple in terms of her abilities, this means that you have to excel at last hitting, awareness, positioning, and micro (orb-walking) to do well.

Easiest new characters i can suggest is

Skeleton King (basically 1 active skill and 3 passives)
Viper. Easy as shit carry and good pubstomper, Poison always gets nubs fleeing.
Venomancer. EZ
Sniper. EZ
Riki. EZ when you get to level 6
Bloodseeker. EZ.

Cool, gotcha'... guess I'll hold out on that. I've seen a few other recommendations for beginners, do you have any?

Awesome, I will give them all a spin tonight. See what I like or meshes well.

No cd on some of his stuff.

I just watched a game with IceFrog trying to figure out the alchemist bug while playing him and the other team kept accusing him of hax. I laughed.

that's hilarious. I'm assuming they're going to do a quick fix for that probably then.

Can people stop doing this? Less buttons =/= easier. Any carry is going to require good farm to be useful and viper/sniper/riki on new players is just inviting free kills on a new player because of how squishy they are. And bloodseeker is only good against people who have never seen him before.

As well as none of these heroes have a reliable escape, other then Riki with Blink Strike, if your new and don't have a lot of map awareness it's going to be really rough.

-Hero select needs to be cleaned up a tiny bit. I don't like it how you have to scroll down for the Bio. Left hand side where the hero select is fine but like little things need adding on the right side like adding a ranged or melee icons. And a summary of their skills when you go over them. I know there is a skill tab (that doesn't exist yet), but I'm talking about having it all on one page.

THEY LISTENED!!!

Lore is nice and clean in its own tab. All it needs now is a ranged and melee icon next to each Hero so newbies know what each heroes attack style is.

-wtf mode is pretty silly, yet fun. Played a "Battle Maiden" for shiggles, farmed up a Daedalus, Heart, Mjolnir, and Desolator. Pointless for that mode, given that Frost Nova melts people faster than your augmented autoattack.

I spammed missiles

So I tried Lifestealer for a bit against AI's and I have a question about him.

Does his Ultimate work on units controlled by enemy heroes (spiderlings, those tree things that Nature's Prophet summons, etc.)?

Hopefully we start to see some significant updates, really feels like not much has been done recently.

Does Lifestealer work better in the lane or jungle?

Good update for features. The hero list changes are long overdue and being able to view them outside of a game is so good too. Cool stuff.

One of the better features they added was adding, and being able to add, item aliases so you can find Black King Bar just by searching for bkb. You can edit the file (dota2/dota/scripts/npc/items.tvt) to include the HoN names if you wanted, just add

"ItemAliases" "name; name"

to an entry.

Also didn't notice this until someone posted on Reddit:

I've been using quickbuy but I didnt know about the Sticky buy.
I will definitely be using that on wards or on TPs.

Also, I should think Ill be adding the HoN names to the list too.
