- Gold over time from 0.875 intervals to 0.8

Playing support just got a bit easier.

- Runes will no longer spawn the same rune type 2 times in a row

Just a bit nice.

- Moved the Flying Courier item to the consumable shop
This is jut nice, now it will take 1/5th the time to upgrade the thing.

Also:
ew CM Skin

- Pudge Santa Model
- Christmas World Tree
- Candy Cane for Tangoes
- Santa Hats for anyone with a kill streak

- Santa Hats for couriers
- Santa Hat for Roshan
- Present model for item treasure chests
I really wonder if Valve will implement this stuff in next weeks patch, considering the pudge picture. Would be cool if they pushed it out today, and that is why the last patch came out Wensday.

Okay. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've never actually played a DOTA-style game.. until yesterday.. with Rise of Immortals.

I hated it at first, because I was just trying to get the stupid award, then it grew on me a bit.. so I'm intrigued. RoI doesn't seem all that good, but I get the idea at least now.

Where should I go from here, barring crafting coal into Dota2.. what's out there worth actually popping my Dota cherry?

Play League of Legends as it's free and quite good. Heroes of Newearth is also free and is much more similar to classic Dota but for someone new to things I'd try LoL first. Also it has a thread back on the frontpage http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=456211

:( Medallion no longer procs Linkens, pretty nice buff. Also like how they've made Deso and Orchid cheaper.

How much does the BAT change effect AM? Also nice to be able to do something else with Basi.

Goblin Shredder is probably my new favorite hero (aside from Pudge duh). Gotta figure out how to solve his crazy mana issues though.

because he has a hook? his passive is ridiculously op. He's like a masochist or something. He more he gets hit, the tankier he gets

basically his base attack speed just got slower

Mirana
- Fixed Elune's Arrow damaging but not stunning invisible units
Aw shit, this will take some getting used to.

Also, Lion's Mana Drain sounds like it's now ridiculously useful (high mobility hero with mana dependency got you down? Stun + slurpslurpslurp).

Axe
- Aghanim's Culling Blade cooldown from 10 to 6
- Base Int from 14 to 18
- Base HP regeneration from 1.25 to 2
- Battle Hunger gives Axe a 4% bonus movement speed per target it affects
- Berserker's Call cooldown from 14 to 10
- Counter Helix damage increased from 100/125/150/175 to 100/130/160/190
- Counter Helix proc cooldown decreased from 0.7/0.65/0.6/0.55 to 0.65/0.6/0.55/0.5
- If Culling Blade kills a unit, Axe unleashes a war cry, giving nearby allied units (600 AoE) a temporary movement bonus (25% for 6 seconds).
Drow Ranger
- Base Agility increased by 4
Pugna
- Life Drain damage increased from 95/140/185 to 100/150/200 (and Scepter from 150/200/250 to 175/225/275)
- Life Drain duration increased from 9 to 10 seconds
Sand King
- Epicenter's slow is no longer blocked by magic immunity
- Caustic Finale buff duration increased from 2 to 8 seconds
:}

Early caustic finale against a Broodmother seems like it's even more viable now. Does a Spiderling nuke proc it?

I like the slight boost on move speed all around. Few characters move a bit faster, new boots is an odd take on boots of Mobility from LoL, being the second fastest and the cheapest boot in the game, Boots of Travail got a slight buff, along with Eul's and Mask of Madness.

I really think the new boots are going to be great, very cheap and give a good amount of HP Regen, which I find a bunch of characters need. Going to be great for gankers and supports IMO, though you will be slightly slower then someone with Phase Boots still, and you are stuck with normal boots in battle.

Any way to make that Forest Healing Troll just keep casting its heal on someone automatically if you have it controlled, without manually spamming it?

- Removed stock cooldown on TP Scrolls, Dust and Sentry Wards
This is already been in Dota 2, right? I don't recall TP Scrolls having a limited stock.

I get an "inventory is full" message sometimes at the side shops when trying to pick up an extra (which is odd, as the scrolls will stack at other times without problem). Wards stack with a full inventory, why not TPs?

I wonder if they'll ever do "Meet the..." shorts for new heroes like LoL's or HoN's spotlights.
I'm not looking for TF2 levels of quality, just a show case of skills and playstyle and some humor.
While in Dragon form Dragon Tail's cast range increased from 150 to 400
Finally, DK makes sense.

I find it funny that Dota is the only game where the Balance Patch just buffs half the characters. The only nerf is a minor change to Anti Mage (One less Armor on a Agi Carry! Attack speed buff from last main patch rolled back! Character Ruined!)

I love how Dragon Knight now has a Ranged Stun in Dragon Form. Just goes well with the character. Wonder if the icon will change when he goes into Dragon Form.

Yeah really, it's pretty ballsy.

But then again, no one can complain about their hero not getting buffed because LOL EVERYONE GETTING DEM BUFFS.

<character x> got no buff, how dare they indirectly nerf him by keeping him the same!

Really love the Sven change, it makes it more worth wile to put points into his Warcry early game, and they made it so you can't counter him with Diffusal Blade. Though they did add two new items that can counter him (Well, Abyssal Blade counters more or less everyone

Does Abyssal Blade also root or purge, or can you still run around when it is active? Would any spells on you still be active? Or does it just get rid of your ability to attack in any way.

Also can't wait to give the Slow Stick a spin. Doesn't cost to much, and will give a meaty oost of HP/Mana/Damage on an Int character.

New boots are kind of sort of like Striders.

Do want.

I rather compare them to Boots of Mobility, since those are the oldest, but it is a nice take. Striders just copied Boot of Mobility straight up, while these boots actually seem more versatile (Though Phase Boots I think works out to be faster as long as you spam the phase every time it is up, by about 25 units per 10 seconds for most units, plus you can move though creeps and not be blocked.)

I just don't know when they would be best. I guess for any character who needs HP regen badly. Would likely be good on CM.

I still really wish there was a Strength version of the new Ring. Its sort of worth it to pick it up late game for the effectively 1 extra armor if you already have the Ring of Basilius, but it just isn't that useful on people who aren't Agi heroes. I guess it would work on VS.

The manliest skill ever:
4. Duel (Active, enemy hero target)

Calls the targeted enemy for a duel. Both you and the enemy will be forced to attack each other and will both be unable to use items or abilities. The victor gains 10 permanent bonus damage.

Duration: 4/4.75/5.5 seconds

Duel winner bonus damage: 10 damage.

Cooldown: 50
Manacost: 75
Cast Range: 100

Notes: The loser of the duel is the hero that dies while under the buff. There is no victor if both heroes are alive at the end of the duration.
Name should be changed to MAN UP.
would like those boots on venge. fast ms and hp regen is nice for roaming. too bad it's expensive as hell. :(
Still cheaper than the alternatives!

Duel should make you both unable to be targeted by magic, and just let the two of you duke it out. What is going to happen is you are going to duel their caster, and then have the rest of your team nuke him.

Holy fuck at those 4 new heroes, items, Axe buffs and courier changes.

Noobki buff aswell. I wonder how long it will take for those item and balance changes to hit DOTA2? Forget those new heroes for a second.

lol is searing chains a 3 second immobilize on up to three targets? On an 8 second cool down? Who thought this was a good idea?

Personally? I'm half expecting Valve to just push a button and have it out today, mainly because of the Pudge Picture they had at the end of the last update.

I don't think it will be too long though, the hero changes are mostly changes in some numbers, and a few scripts. Tiny's is likely the only that actually will take some time, since he likely needs a whole new set of Animations for when he has the scepter, and Dragon Knight may need anther Animation for his ranged stun. Even the items should be pretty easy to implement.

Um, it's kinda Christmas Eve. I would expect balance changes during next week's
Invoker
patch at the earliest.

Not sure why they would release an update early, and then update on Christmas Eve (also a Saturday).

Yes, so it is the last chance to push the Christmas update! Really, it comes down to if Valve has it done and was just waiting for Ice Frog to do his release or not, and have already checked to make sure it doesn't break anything big. I mean, Valve has someone working to check to make sure the sales are proper and all. Maybe some young guys who don't feel like doing anything for the Holidays, or some Jewish people.

I want my Christmas Pudge.

It would be a great "gift" and all around effective publicity stunt, if they had a full patch ready and released it on Christmas.

(Would also be funny to see Christmas plans get interrupted by OMG NEW PATCH)

I doubt this is going to happen though.

It's a refreshing change from the "NERF EVERYONE UNTIL THEY'RE EQUALLY SHIT" style of balance you get from Blizzard or Riot.

.

AM, Rubick, Phoenix, Pit Lord, Rooftrellen, Spectre(minor nerf) were nerfed, because they are still being prepped to put into CM or being reworked because they are too powerful in CM.

The buffs are almost all on characters that are underpicked in CM. This is how Icefrog's pattern goes.

Everyone does, it is the classic source stutter bug. Valve hopfully can fix it in the next few months. Valve may just have to put Dota on it's own version of source.

Never happens to me, only get stutter when playing with bots and they all pick their hero.

Yet no nerfs on Syllabear or Lycan...
