Pro tip to all aspiring Slark players:

W is right above S, so make sure your middle finger is on S when you animation cancel and not on W.

Fuck legacy keybinds.

This patch is fucked. Crashes everywhere. Messed up effects.

Due to a memory issue when running on 32-bit Windows, we have decided to revert to the previous version of Dota 2. This has already occurred and you will need to patch again.

Please note that items added with this update (such as the Pyrion Flax announcer and HUD skins) will not function and may be missing icons or text in your backpack. They will function again once we ship a new update.

We will continue working towards shipping this update as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and enjoy the game!

Another Dota 2 patch? 167MB this time.

Why in the world would you buy the pflax announcer?

He does great stuff with his YouTube but wanting to listen to his quips constantly will get really really boring/annoying fast.

I'm sure if Pyrion Flax sold like pub mming there would be people who would buy it.
Just different levels of what people will pay.

Anyone got like 80 Smeevil watches lol?

Just played my first game. 5 of the 10 players ended up disconnecting, including 4 on the opposing team. Is that a common thing in this game? Didn't make for a very fun match.

I think it's just because of this patch screwing stuff up, I've had Dota crash on me twice in the last hour and it never does.

It seems that the game's just had a duff patch, and things are really unstable as a result.

The latest 167MB patch apparently fucked over everyone's cosmetics and they can't equip anything now.

Seriously, Valve. Could you take maybe 5 minutes to figure out when major things are wrong in the patch before sending it out?

People on the dev forums are going mad right now. I wonder how Valve will cope will all of these issues once it's out of beta.

AMD or nvid?

Team red.

90% of the people on the dev forums are glue chugging morons. It's best to ignore most things that come out of that place. It's a real shame too, as a lot of genuine feedback seems to get drowned out among the OH THE COWBOY HAT DOESN'T FIT AND WHY DO YOU HATE US VALVE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY IF YOU CROSS THE INTERNET

You never fail to disappoint.

Does anyone actually care about the development of Dota 2 anymore?

When critical bugs slip through like this, there is something very wrong going on.

Valve has made millions and more off Dota 2 already and yet they continue this downward spiral to mediocrity, becoming completely out of touch with the community.

If the current devs don't care, then they should be replaced or banned from working on Dota 2.

Ran into my first griefer today, just started tower diving the second he spawned into game. It's at times like these I wish there were a way to concede a game right off the bat or kick the person out and restart.

Dude where were you? I was diving. You gotta back me up noob.

For anybody that has played LOL and moved on to this game I am ready to try it myself. I have a few questions though as it is downloading right now. IF anybody has played Talon on LOL is there anybody even close to him on this game? He is my best character on LOL,if not what are some of the noob friendlier champs?

How does this happen?

Valve is the richest privately owned game dev in the world. They hire only the most ridiculously qualified people. They even have a damn test client.

How!?

Bounty Hunter is as close as you'll get to Talon.

Uhh, look into

Riki, Slark, Phantom Assassin, and Bounty Hunter for dudes sort of like Talon. Sorta. Kinda. If i am reading his moves correctly. I dunno, I don't play leagues stop asking me difficult questions whats ur deal man damn

The thing is, AD casters don't really exist in DOTA. It's just not part of the design.

Will be the first champion I try then. Looking forward to trying out Dota. IF anybody would like to teach me how to play properly my steam name is njean777. Gonna try to get a few bot games in tomorrow.

Yeah I've never played LoL but looked up the skills description and looks like a Slark clone

Well we know they don't really like fixing little bugs from experience with TF2 since they'd rather work on content.

That was a pretty major bug though.

Look into Nyx as well, he has more innate damage than BH.

Attack Damage.

In League, skills can scale with both AP (think spell power) and AD (auto attack damage), so you have AP casters and AD casters.

Talon is an AD caster, kind like a cross between Riki/Skywrath. He relies mostly on burst but by nature of his scaling, he can dish out a lot of auto attack damage as well.

Yeah, but in this game parity with Dota 1 is a pretty big deal for a lot of fans.

Look at the huge list of gameplay bugs that are still not fixed.

that seems unfair

hmmn.. Outworld Destroyer kinda fits that.

Arcane Orb + Sanity Eclipse.

Sure his orb is still magic (hence counterable with BKB) but it does pure damage

Na, Valve is getting the criticism it deserves. When you fuck up, you get called out on it. That's how shit works. HoN was amazing during beta and shortly after release, then it just started going downhill with bug after bug and more focus on cosmetics and the shop than actual gameplay.

Valve is following an eerily similar path... they've done plenty right (TI, esports, free heroes), but they've also been fucking up consistently with critical errors, and going from 2-3 heroes a month to 1 hero every 2 months. Patches seem to have less bug fixes, and with the gigantic list of 1000+ gameplay bugs... it's kind of disheartening. The troll ranged bash bug has been in the game for months, tranquil has been broken by not giving ms to illusions for weeks, armlet bear has been broken for god knows how long, pretty much all of Slark's abilities had a myriad of bugs for months (and still do)... FIX YOUR SHIT VALVE.

I feel like I'm really terrible at generating money. Any tips? It can't be as simple as 'buy a haste' item can it? But otherwise, I feel like I don't land enough killing blows.

Practice last hitting more, that's all there is to it.

Maybe mix up your hero picks. Some heroes have terrible last hitting animations, where as others you have to try to screw it up.

That, and check your hero's damage. If it's low, buy more of your primary attribute if you will be farming in the lane or a Quelling Blade on melee heroes. Most melee carries it's a good idea to get a QB on as you need to make sure you get those last hits. Treant Protector and Tiny start with tons of damage though, so you shouldn't need one on those two.

Basically, you won't be able to afford significantly more attack speed with your starting gold, so damage/your primary attribute is what you want.

A factor to consider is who your opponent is. For instance, if you're Shadow Fiend and you see an Invoker on the other team, you will likely face him in lane, and if he goes Exort, last hitting against him will be a nightmare. SF is ranged, so Quelling Blade is not really worth it on him. Instead, you want Iron Branches and Slippers of Agility.
