You'll know if you're in LPQ. There's a red message above the world map during matchmaking that tells you.

Doesn't seem like I have any message then. Unless I'm not seeing it?

Two abandons close together often gets you put in LPQ for 24 hours.

Is the LPQ punishment temporary? I seem to remember reading that once you went into LPQ, you wouldn't get out until the game was out of beta but at this point, who knows when that'll happen or if it's even true.

No one ever says thanks to me for the battle bonus :(

Strange. People always thank me for the bonus. I do wish I could get more games where more people have the compendium. The stacking bonus can go crazy high if half the server or more are running it.

The LPQ alert usually present at the map, before you search. And you'll get another notification when a match begins.

LPQ is temporary. Not sure how long now, but I got sent to LPQ 4 times---each for 1 abandon during Diretide event (shitty connection at the time, but it was totally unfair really) and it was all less than 24 hours.

My average games has about 4 people giving the compendium bonus. Noone says thanks because its kind of expected that you're going to get a bunch of compendium bonuses. This is probably because people actually watch and learn from the pro games out of the trench tier.

I do wonder if a part of it is people thinking I'm actively giving them a bonus instead of being an automatic thing

would anyone like an infinite crisis preferred access key? It boosts your chance of getting into the beta.

Wanted to see if there was any takers before I give it to inferior other dota game gaffers.

I know Sniper mid is garbage, but why again? His projectile speed is damn near instant so out-last hitting him is damn near impossible sometimes.

Is Dota 2 really dying compared to LOL? I figure it would be better to get into the game that would be around longer, and I don't really like the F2P aspect of LOL, but if Dota 2 is dead in the water at this point why bother getting into it only to have it die later on.

what makes you think its dead in the water? its not even public yet, has tournaments every week, just had a huge update and is played by more people then the next 10 games combined on steam.

Stop listening to boken's troll posts.

his base attack damage is low and he is really squishy, these are the weakness you must try to exploit. AFAIK, pushing the creeps to his tower gives him a hard time. He also has trouble with rune control due to his move speed and lack of quick move skills (blink, puck's illusory orb, magnus's charge, etc) If you are having trouble last hitting against sniper, it might be the case you didn't invest enough of your early 600 gold in items that boost your base attack damage.

Well when I looked in this thread a few days ago people were just going on about the game being dead due to no patching really occurring, just didn't know if they were being serious or just talking shit.

It is a joke due the fact Valve is slowing the patching between weeks since the qualifiers are going on
The game is huge and it's on a closed beta, it's going to be bigger than if Valve plays their cards right

Because he has no escapes without spending 3000g and there's actually a decent amount of exposed space in mid where you can be ganked. However, in low level games no one thinks about rotating/smoking to setup a gank mid so very few new players punish it.

Additionally, a fast level 6 on sniper doesn't have the impact that RP or Dreamcoil does in shutting down other lanes.

Thanks for the info. I'm not seeing any notifications anywhere in the client so it seems I'm good for now. Valve really should outline this whole LPQ setup somewhere on their blog or something.

4 people giving the bonus is a good game for me. At least half my games have only me with the compendium. The other half might have 2-4 people. 5 or higher is very rare.

Almost 3.5 million unique players per month and between 100k-300k people playing at any given time. You decide if it's dying or not.

Snipers base damage is garbage, he'd get out last hit hard by most of the good mids. Not to mention he's slow and squishy as hell, he'd get solo killed really easy. This is of course assuming he's against an actual good mid hero, which isn't really a guarantee in pubs.

Maybe that's it. I always cannot out last hit him as Tinker and can never get any fucking farm.

Dendi actually played a tournament game with Sniper mid a week or two ago. Didn't do fantastic since he has no escapes, but they won.

It definitely doesn't feel like it. I was laning against him with Queen of Pain like two days ago and at level 4 or so three auto-attacks from him took out like half my health. It made last hitting miserable.

You were probably getting hit by his mini stun which definitely hurts early on. Also a lot of snipers get considerable amount of damage stats because they usually don't go for fast bottle.

I hate playing Shadow Demon. That is all.

Dude Shadow demon is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

So I just got my ass handed to me twice during my coaching session on defensive tri lanes. So much different than pubs. Holy shit.
I'm so used to the carry dictating the lane, when actually its MY lane and I tell everyone else wtf they would be doing. The role reversal was a total wake up call. When the vid uploads in a few days I'll share it here.

That is the sound of someone that has accidentally soulcatchered a bunch of lane creeps.

That and not knowing not to Disruption enemies late game.

Yeah, I was offlane in a dual lane with a Bounty Hunter against a Drow and Wisp. It was horrible.
I don't know why but Shadow Demon and Lion are the two supports who I just absolutely suck as. I just cannot get the hang of being useful with them.

Sorry you're bad at shadow demon?

I'm terrible at Shadow Demon. I'm in general terrible at support, but SD is a whole different level of terrible.

What

the

FUCK

Just had a game where my friend and I were paired up with three people who had less then ten games each. Our Sven was on his very first game, and his friend Bounty was smurfing to try and teach him, thinking that a low level account would pair them against similarly low level players

It didn't

We lost terribly because we were essentially 3v5, our Sandking also had like three wins under his belt and clearly had no idea what he was doing. And this was unique to our team, the other team was all people of about me and my friend's skill level

Why THE FUCK did Matchmaking pair us up like that?

Pretty sure it'll rank your enemies up instead of down if you have a mix.

What order should I be buying meepo's core items? I've watched the Purge Plays Meepo video and some of NoTail's stream of him pubbing, and it seems like most people agree the most important mid-game items for him are treads, scepter, and blink dagger. They all seem so important, though. Without treads he feels really squishy, scepter makes farming so much faster, and without blink it feels tough to initiate on someone. The scepter seems to make the biggest difference, but it's also the most expensive. Any advice?

Also, after I have those three, what should I be spending my money on? Items that boost stats seem to be the most useful, since they benefit all the meepos. Is buying 1 or 2 ultimate orbs better than something like reaver, AC, or heart?

I like Tranqs / Scepter / Blink -> Reaver Sheep, you can typically get Scepter very quickly by stacking hard camp with one of your meepos.
