These kinda things already happen, like at Dreamhack. They always get stomped by pro teams once they get that far.
Also that would leave out a lot of good teams that have an actual chance of pulling some upsets like Mouz/EG/Empire. No name amateur teams at international would just be a joke. If you're good enough to hang with those teams, you would be there already by winning Joindota open for example.
Of course it CAN happen, I think Potm bottom did it that way (now Dignitas). But I really think you need a longer track record for getting into the international.

Yeah the first one I had pulled went smoothly and I didnt feel a thing afterwards...
The second one, on the other hand, was a disaster. They had to be two pulling together in order to get it out. And this after the first dentist rocking it back and fourth for a good half hour. My jaw felt like a car crash and I was eating painkillers like candy for two days...

just played a bot game as Elder Titan man...he is gonna be tricky to use but soooo powerful. I noticed that creeps could attack without waking the sleeping does that mean creeps that are under control could attack without waking?
I've been playing Dota for few months now. But most of it has been solo queue, so I'm looking for some easygoing people to queue with now. I'm far from good, decent at the very best. I would be up for that as well. Pub games are wearing on me. There is abandonment 3/5 games. So frustrating.

Oh and to the guy that was asking for clan THUG streams in the last thread, the scrim yesterday was pretty much our only "clan" game in the last 2 months. Mumblegaf (the 5 guys that played yesterday and a few others) plays a lot but nobody really streams, I don't think any of us have the internet for it

What else? That should be obvious. There should be an open tournament for people all over the world to compete for the last 3 slots.
You know what always happens in these "open" tournaments with a prize pool that's worth the time? The pro teams win.
The teams invited and the qualifying teams are pretty much the best in the world.
Whats the point when the amateur/unknown teams will just lose?

If they were good they would have already made a name for themselves in one of the other open tournaments throughout the year. Other now sponsored professional teams have done that, it's not impossible. The international is not what that's for. This is the best of the best.

So how does a non-pro team get experience? It's not cost-effective to field a team all year round without sponsors - but if you have been playing for years in pubs/friends I don't see why you can't give people a shot in May when exams are over or on the weekend so people with jobs can set aside time. As to the pro qualifier, oh no, the worst pro qualifier didn't get in - if you are the worst pro qualifier get better than the 20 other teams that are ahead of you.
