If there's someone who's better than Purge at teaching new players learn the game, I'd love to hear about them. I've been trying to find more people who do commentary while doing Dota 2 matches.

Merlini's guides are pretty good, get them.

Also what helped me the most is watching Dota matches. Get a ticket or two, pick the ones where they use the heroes you like and focus the camera to the hero. Look at which items they pick, their preferences on which skills to level up, and most importantly, how they position their heroes.

Next try it in a game, and adjust to your playstyle accordingly.

No really, explain how LoL jungling is hard.

Well maybe I'll ask in the LoL thread.

Don't wanna go off topic, might end up in community!

It's hard because you have to buy the runes and pages first! Once you grind those out (or pay to win) its easy street! Get good... I mean hood*

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh

I wouldn't want to play sudoku all the time, but if I had nothing better to do I wouldn't mind a game of sudoku.

I think part of the problem with Meepo's low winrate is the fact that no one gives him farm. He has so shit damage early on, so if he's competing for farm with ANYONE he is not getting any farm. Pretty much picking Meepo means "DO NOT TRUST THIS PLAYER" to anyone, and they just take all of your farm.

I'm not particularly good at LoL or Dota, but I find the jungling role in League way harder than any other role in that game, because it's the only one that really requires strategic awareness in the early game. Because there's so little mobility in LoL (no runes, basically no tower TPs), the jungler is the only role that can gank early on. And since there's so little mobility, the jungler needs to anticipate when a gank opportunity will open up so their movement isn't wasted.

Anyone can follow a path and a level build, but a jungler ganking successfully (or failing to do so) can completely change the fate of a lane. And that's huge in LoL, where it's so difficult to recover once you start falling behind.

This is ignoring the factor of figuring out how to deal with the enemy jungler.

I wouldn't try to make some qualitative difficulty comparison to Dota roles, because they're different games. Just saying that jungling is tough, and there's more to it than following a Youtube walkthrough.

Mid seems much better for Meepo in MM games where you don't know your teammates. He's not great mid or anything, but at the very least you get to 6 extremely quickly while picking up some farm whenever you can.

Here's an interesting question the rest of the room though: With the latest Open Wounds nerf, is the necessity of Lifestealer ganking (if he is jungling) as high as it used to be? I feel like the short Open Wounds cast range on lower levels makes him not as viable for that anymore, and he might just be better off sticking to farming, being more of a liabliity than a use in a gank.

Ive found that infesting a support and sending them to bait the enemy solo carry usually ends in me getting a kill.

Oh look a lone support, better kill them
BOOM SUPRISE MOTHERFUCKER THANKS FOR GETTING IN RANGE OF MY OPEN WOUNDS
Wanna run away now? lol shame i brought a support with a stun

Works every time

But how do I jungle as life stealer

Why is it that I want to play Meepo and get faced against a fucking trilane I have no hope of beating now?!

Also Meepo mid is garbage I thought.

That's where notail has played him the few times fnatic has used a meepo. You're probably going to lose the lane, but that's not really the point of sending him there.

Then how are you supposed to get a Scepter by a decent hour with no farm?

You'll get enough to make your tranquils, then start stacking the jungle whenever you can, plus whatever you can continue to get from the lane. I tend to go straight to scepter after tranquils/poor man's shield is done. If you're trying to build stuff like treads, mek or vlads before the scepter, then it'll be a while.

I suppose I'll try Meepo mid in this next game I'm about to play, but if I'm up against a QoP or something, I may be screwed.

What do you guys think of Quelling Blade on Meepo? I find it EXTREMELY hard to last hit with him, and basically anyone trying to deny you will do so successfully if you don't have a QB in my experience.

You don't. Lane is where he belongs.

That comes with a caveat of "But if you have to..."

You take Feast first, do the easy and medium. At 3 or so you can do the hard camps. You max Feast, take a point in Rage and one in Open Wounds. Open Wounds is mainly for extra lifesteal if Ursas are really wrecking you or something. From there it's pretty straightforward.

He's actually alright vs melee heroes since you can poof cancel to scare them away from last hits, but I guess there aren't many melee mid heroes. If you're desperate for farm, you can just start using poof to get the last hits. If you get the opportunity, try autoattacking the creeps occasionally to get two creeps low enough to kill with one poof.

I'm sorry, but you are trolling and Meepo mid is garbage. I ended up abandoning the game, it was that terrible.

I can't even do that, Lion comes in from behind tower!

I really don't get why you are complaining. It is 2 vs 1, the point is for you to be at a disadvantage but you can still leech xp because of the way mid works. That if Lion comes at you 1 v 1 you should be high enough level to get the kill.

I can't even stay in XP range, and they are going to kill me even if I hug the tower all day long. That's the issue.

*sigh* I've never gone positive on a Meepo game before, only contributed to winning games by pushing towers. Why the hell is my Meepo not improving?!
