Dota 2 Beta Thread V: Real Talk Strikes Back [Tutorials]

won't people just bottle crow with a bottle with 1 charge left? It's basically sacrificing one charge for faster courier movement, and I think in the long term faster courier speed is worth one less short term charge.

It creates a decision on whether or not to use that last charge, depending on how your game is going.

I think it's a great compromise that doesn't outright remove the mechanic.

So 6.78's buff to nearly everyone's skills and a nerf to vision makes Dota 2 a very very very volatile game, more so than before and WAAAAAAAAAY more so than other comparable Moba games like LoL.

I don't understand DOTA2 at all. I never have. Got a key the other day from a friend, played the tutorial for about 5 minutes and almost fell asleep. Could someone explain this game to me? It's just something I hear about all the time and have absolutely no idea what it is.

I thought CMs arcane aura was really good before. I mean obviously it did nothing much late game but with this buff it will really let people stomp the lanes. I think it would have been neat if her passive gave her a small MS increase and her ultimate had say a 500 cast range. Not sure what to make of the ulti buffs she did get.

I think all the Aghs changes, I was just thinking how a lot of Aghs buffs in this game are kind of boring and meh. Some of them sound juicy now.

3-4 new heroes a year.

Its not like Valve only makes DotA, so i can understand that it takes so long

All their developers are working on Half Life 3/New Source Engine remember

Next update should be a visual que when a hero has an Aghs, like Tiny and his tree

It's not THAT slow. Were on a roughly one hero a month pace now.

Was much faster prior to that, but we also dont have nearly as many heroes to get through anymore. Even after todays two new ones theres only 11 left.

That reduces the amount of regen by 33%, not exactly a particularly huge circumvention of the nerf considering that accounting for both the trip to the well and the trip back the bottle crowing will take about 15% more time than before.
how often have they been adding new heroes? like by the time Valve gets all of these ones in the game will there be 6 more to add?
The last patch that added heroes before this one was 6.75 released on the 30th of September last year.
Before that it was 6.73 on the 24th of November of 2011 and then again 6.70 exactly one year before.
So around one patch with 2 to 3 new heroes every year?

It's hockey where both teams are trying to kill the other teams goalie first.

He's talking about new heroes not dota 2 ports.

Read the OP..

The new Earth Panda (presumably?) seems incredibly complicated and awesome. Would be fantastic to watch in action. Too bad we probably won't see him till the end of next year.

I like Quas Exort. But I've only played him ~3 times, so...

Oh and I'm pretty sure I forgot to mention this one:

Spectre top tier carry confirmed.

May also see a return on LD and PL, given the related nerfs there.

Why would 5 extra damage per second make PL wanna go rad instead of diff/heart?

I can't believe Spectre got no love. :(

Rad buff I guess. Meh. I'm a Diffusal man.

Spec is already seeing some play and that haunt buff isn't insubstantial. Considering the nerfs to other popular carries, (LS, PL, LD) I'd say she's actually on the rise now.

Agreed

PL with lvl 2 Diffusal Blade will still wreck everyones shit. He just needs 5 mins of extra farm to be good

No issues

(Only trench babies build Vanguard/Radiance on PL anyway :/)

The funny thing is it wasnt a buff that helped, it was Haunt and Dagger finally working as intended.

And the Diffusal damage is where a lot of the illusion damage comes from and that isnt affected by the illusion percentage damage nerf.

Isnt that a good thing? Why would you want cookie cutter heroes flooding the game every month?
Sad thing is the new champions aren't imaginative at all. The new one looks like a complete bore. The one that just release had Puck's Q, but everything else was incredibly boring. Champions have passives that could be really cool, but most are lame stat increases or triggers. The last great champion was Thresh, with a unique passive, a really cool mini-Pudge hook, a friendly unit displacer, and his kit worked well in tandem, and he was under the old pump-them-out model they used to have.

I just think that without a massive overhaul to the game, LoL's champions will just become more and more stale. Abilities can't be too strong because everything scales with ability power, you can't have an additional unit to control, and items can't completely change champions like they do with heroes in Dota2. Riot is slowly changing the way things work (a lot of the new items have use effects, but they're not to the power level of Dota2), but the foundation needs to totally be uplifted.

Illusions deal less damage by themselves and Drum slightly increased in price (by 1cs but still).

The burn may deter people from chasing even with the new dust slow.

Not saying it's going to be better, but it'll be more viable as an option. Mainly a buff to Spectre over doing anything else though.

---

And Disruptor's buff is pretty decent. May see him get picked up now in conjunction with the BKB nerf.

Need to see the cast time for Earth Spirit. I'm assuming you'll being casting those rocks right before using abilties frequently.

So is Legion Commander not coming out right now?

Wasn't expecting Kaolin or Nerif.

This is in dota 1. The hero progress in dota 2 remains the same but balance changes should show up immediately/next week.

I may actually level the nuke early now lol. I love lvl 4 glimpse so much that I always maxed it early, regardless of what is optimal.

Do you see a shitty new game mode? :P
