What

the

FUCK

Just had a game where my friend and I were paired up with three people who had less then ten games each. Our Sven was on his very first game, and his friend Bounty was smurfing to try and teach him, thinking that a low level account would pair them against similarly low level players

It didn't

We lost terribly because we were essentially 3v5, our Sandking also had like three wins under his belt and clearly had no idea what he was doing. And this was unique to our team, the other team was all people of about me and my friend's skill level

Why THE FUCK did Matchmaking pair us up like that?
KK, if U solo MM, no TT plz, just QQ moar

So you don't get treads?
Infinite heals vs 150 hp? You can also transition to treads/vlads if you want

Oh and don't forget manta for the lolz

First time Luna.

Best carry NA.

Dear God she is so easy to play

Pleasant experience in solo queue tonight. What looked like a disaster of all random ended up with a win. My team was Tide, Beast Master, Kotl, Storm Spirit, and Rubick vs. Clockwerk, Nyx, Chaos, Huskar, Medusa. Luckily my team mates all understood English and how to play Dota, we didn't squander a huge lead by needless farming instead of pushing or giving up free Rosh kills. Sometimes Dota is a wonderful game.

22s to 24s vacuum is a joke nerf equivalent to the -5% cleave on sven. DS has been a first ban/pick hero for what... 2 years now? Icefraud must really like that cunt hero.

We'll see, it's not a minor nerf by any means. While most of PL's damage against heroes comes from diffusal blade, this will slow down his farming and split push a tad.

Its a minor nerf. And its pretty clear dark seer is a pet hero of icefrog's like NP that he is reluctant to overnerf by accident.

I know Sniper mid is garbage, but why again? His projectile speed is damn near instant so out-last hitting him is damn near impossible sometimes.

Because you gank the shit out of him or pick a mid that either burst him or go take the rune and wreck the side lanes while he plonks away at creeps mid. Its like having Invoker mid.

But if you are playing pubs, this doesnt matter.

Whenever I see the other team picking Shadow Fiend I automatically pick Bane and get Enfeeble at Lvl 1.

That'll teach you to instalock carries.

Watching ixmike play Wisp. So godlike at pulling camps with his orbs, I gotta learn how to do that.

Level 5 in 5 minutes purely off of jungle creeps, so insane.

Just played a game where the Dire-side had an Axe that kept trying to do the creep wave intercept between the tier 1 and 2 towers. He tried it top lane, got ganked, then switched bottom lane, got ganked again. Now after trying and failing twice you would think he'd stop, but he kept coming bot lane, kept doing the intercept, and kept getting ganked. Axe threw the Dire's game under the bus. He ended the game with his deaths being roughly half of our team score. His final items were a vanguard, quelling blade, power treads, a vitality booster, a stout shield and a stout shield. I guess he was going for a double Vanguard but couldn't afford the second ring of health. I don't even understand.

When LGD picked Wisp a few days ago vs iG, their Wisp got Level 6 at 6 minutes, just by pulling. There wasn't anyone on the lane though, so the supports didn't need to spend time harassing anyone out of lane. Still really good.

Where is a good place to trade stuff for dota items? I have a copy of borderlands 2 I received with a new graphics card and would like to trade it for keys or something.

Well you have to remember that Timber Chain is pure damage (Chakram as well). You can't really buff it or it would be too good.

And Whirling Death is also pure if you cut a tree in the process.

Of course if you buff timber chain it would be very good. I don't think it would be OP though because of the need for tree's and to be in the right place at the right time. The latter of which is only as good as your map awareness and that of your opponents.

I feel like his recent buffs are only the first set of a few more he will receive in future. He needs a few refinements is all.

Chain should have no cooldown, but its mana cost increases with levels and it mini stuns for 0.1 sec. Also decrease its cast time to 0.1/0.2 or something

This is what I'd like to see but maybe having a mini-stun would be a bit much on reflection as you would just need a couple if TC's, Whirling and Chakram to burst someone down.

Let Timber chain to his chakram.

There I fixed every problem.

Mind blown. If Valve added this he would definitely fit into the current deathball meta. Very clockwerkish.

Oh yeah, I gotta watch that real quick. Forgot about that!

Edit: Just watched it, that shit was hilarious. Lina was top for five seconds and Leshrac completely zoned her out of lane, then she went bot to join in on the death party.

Also, playing Nyx against Sniper is fun as hell. So many times I was using Spiked Carapace on Assassinate, especially when if it actually hit me, I would have been dead. I got the enemy Tidehunter to blow his Ravage just for me, including one time when I caught him alone, I still killed him because he was in Dagon range by the time the stun was up. NYXXXXXXXXXXXXNYXNYXNYXNYXNYX!

So I've been playing games against bots on and off for a little while to try and learn the basics. What do you think would be a good next step? I'm a bit hesitant to just jump straight into solo matchmaking as I'm sure I'm going to get annihilated for a while and I don't want to ruin games for other people. :-/

Your first few games will be matched against players who are also brand new. You probably wont ruin games.

You'll get paired with other people that don't know what they are doing. You could possibly pair up with someone more experienced and play coop matches against harder bots, but trying things against bots first is already more than many players do.

EDIT: And never forget, no matter how good you are, you will always ruin games for assholes and get yelled at. That is the way of DOTA.

Just jump in and play, you'll be playing with people just as bad.

The beauty of almost any matchmaking system ever is that it's trying its best to match you with people of your/their similar skill level.

I just had an unreal match... I couldn't believe how bad I did.

I was Crystal Maiden via single draft, and I went 0/13! I'm not sure if it was entirely my fault, but it felt as though I couldn't accomplish a single thing the entire match.

Granted I'm pretty new to the game, with 17 wins or so, but I have never played a game like that one. Even my earliest games where I had no idea what I was doing were better.

Edit: Here's a question... what's the most noob friendly game mode?

All Pick, just because you don't know all the heroes.

Cool, I'm going in! :-)

CM is a pretty terrible support, if not the worst, in her current state so don't blame yourself. Not having double digit deaths with her is rare. She offers virtually nothing after 5 minutes into the game.

At what point do you start thinking about soloing rosh? Isn't that a pretty big strength of his?

I like to do it safely when I have 5 meepo's and vlads at least.

http://dotabuff.com/matches/209244937

I went ring of basilius into tranquil boots and then after I got aghs, disassembled my tranq boots to make vlads, then got boots of travel. Makes it really safe because you're so fast and you can move 1 meepo away, tp out, and poof him back. And just push anywhere you want.

Heart for tankyness and eblade for dat agility $$

My experience with CM has always been the opposite. She dies a lot but that is 100% your fault and bad positioning. Her root is so strong that when used correctly should guarantee a kill.

I've also seen carry CM with BKB and ulting like mad. This is the closest I've come to doing that. But her speed does hurt her a lot. She is supposedly an excellent roamer, but she moves at the speed of a crippled snail.

Also Cyborgmatt looks like he could be Gabe Newell's son.

I just had one of the most enjoyable games of Dota I've ever played. I was BH and throughout the entire game there were constant ganks and scuffles and teamfighting and the game moved at a constant very fast pace. It was very fun (I went 21/4/4 so that might have helped out a bit too).
