Good video with a lot of solid laning information, albeit basic. It lacks discussion on the roam/smoke aspect of the trilane which is just as important as the lane itself. But the focus on the supports staying together and taking advantage of opportunities is great, that's the thing you need before you can do anything else.

the commentary on positioning, pull directions and such were all new to me. It was the *why* that was valuable for me, rather than what they were or were not doing. proper technique for pulling and protecting pulls? all news.

and yea, knowing when it's safe to leave your safe lane carry and roam is always something worthy further discussion and insight. As is stuff like ganking mid. Too often, mids go unharassed, and dominate the game because of it. As a consummate Zeus player, I always laugh when I can get away with not getting ganked mid. One of the slowest heroes in the game with no escape. Why wouldn't you gank him? Because pubs.

Smoke ganking mid is one of the very best things you can do as a support if your mid has some killing potential. Hell, even if you don't, the threat all by itself can cause the enemy mid to miss some cs and delay their items.

It's not even worth it in lower tiers, to be honest. You'll just end up with 2 extremely poor and underleveled heroes.
Low Tiers will eventually be High Tiers. If you have friends, why not practice better techniques? They'll serve you well later on. Anuxi is already doing basics better than the overwhelming majority of your typical pub support and she's what? I few hundred games into Dota. I'd venture to say 90% of people who will play support today can't or won't double-pull. Basics that matter, but don't come without practice.

My thing is that practicing fundamentals will be infinitely more useful to you than trying to master more complicated strategies. One of the major differences between pro players and normal players is farming efficiency. Is this a really complicated skill? No, but it is a skill that requires a whole lot of practice and refining.

last night omg mode was really fun anybody planning on setting one up today again?
I wanted to last night but most of the crew called it an early night. I'll try and get some games going tonight if there's enough interest.

#comebackdota
That was a fun game to watch, you guys played really disciplined and the other team kinda cracked under the pressure of trying to get you guys to fold and get caught out.

Did we get any footage of the blink'n'slam huskar from last night's Giant Bomb IHs

Yo I got that 4 space jam slams in that game!

And I'd love to play in the omg mode ih tonight as long as it isn't too late, going to six flags amusement park tomorrow so gotta leave early.

Gotta say, I think after that awful start, we really tried our best and it paid off, what an incredibly satisfying win.

It's a good example of what to do if you're doing awfully against a phantom lancer. We pretty much decided that we had to let him farm because we simply couldn't do anything.

There's always the cast :D

and as I saw this as well when looking for the vod today: loki's amazing jugg

I can confirm the global strat is pretty crazy with silencer. Just tried it.
Refreshers are the icing on the cake.

Zeus, Prophet, Spectre, Silencer (+Pub bloodseeker forcestaff player :/)

13k in the bank at the end of that one, np.

And fuck that dude doing analysis, bh cant do shit to jugg with a ta that doesn't even have boots.

This is why I don't like farmfests. Black and Fata's farm just amounted to nothing because they got silenced and stunned because Dendi landed one good coil and silence. It only takes one good teamfight to win it endgame, regardless of farm.

Watched about 15 min worth (will watch the rest eventually). I'm not sure how applicable this is in my current mm level (probably close to nil since even if I did execute the concept properly, getting the other two people on the same page in my skill level is a whole different thing entirely) but it does give food for thought on how to properly control the ganking paths. Also, stacking up instead of away the tower b/c it puts you in better position to respond should your laning partner get jumped is something so obvious that I can't believe I didn't even consider it.

Shiiit, Mouz just evaporated, WTF.

Ayesee not realising that Blademail does not go through BKB is a bit annoying though...

I kinda thought he had a point. See, Blademail would have been good because it would have forced Sven to make a choice: He's going to have to attack Clock when cogged, but with Blademail available, Sven has to decide if he's going to attack him without the BKB and potentially be at half health after he kills him (or even less, I didn't see how much HP Clock had in that match), or pop the 4-second BKB charge and kill him and not have it available for the Sheep sticks that will come his way?

Either way, Blademail (a cheap purchase) puts Sven in a situation where he has to pick between 2 suboptimal choices. He wouldn't be able to afford to try to fight gyro & co. at half health, but he couldn't fight them without his bkb charge available either. I had the displeasure of experiencing what the 4-second BKB charge is like...it's damn near worthless. When you pop it, it better be because you absolutely have to, because it's gone before you know it.

So to that end, Ayesee was right (imo, of course). Even if his reason may have been wrong (he didn't really give his full reasoning; just his opinion).

yea, something there to learn for most of us. and you can come back to it in a few months and the rest will be useful. :D

Yeah I learn in blocks. When I teach myself I set very small goals to master. Usually fundamental skills that I can fall back on when I loose sight of what to do.
Also when I'm taught new stuff I get confused as it takes a few days for info to really start sinking in. Which is why during that session I was like WTF!? So I'm hoping with the next session I will be better.

So the steps I have been blocked in so far.
Stacking, where to stack how to stack, how to try and get off unconventional stacks (using skills like shadow poison or cutting the jungle)
Pulling, when to pull, how to double pull

Basic lane warding

Shadow demon specifics: How to defensively disrupt. How to by time for my team to enter the fight when the enemy has tunnel vision on my weak almost dead disrupted ass. How to use my skills and how to build for the lane.
Touches on a bit about positioning in vid 2

Now we are working on only defensive tri lanes from the beginning of the game to about 10 minutes in. We will do another defensive tri lane session next just to cement that whole aspect into my brain, then we will move into Offensive trilanes.

Having to watch the mini map is a big one for me as I tend to focus on specific things (great for working on 3D, not so good for playing dota where you need to be aware of everything around you)
I'm thinking of playing more treeant to help me be more ally aware, as living Armour will force me to look at my team mates more and assess whats going on and when ganks may be happening.

My homework was after vid 1: Bot matches, learn to stack, pull and double pull. I even figured out how to triple pull on radiant :D

Homework after vid 2 was playing more matches and learning to stack jungle and transition into mid game a bit better

homework after vid 3 was watching tri lane Shadow demons and see how they dictate the flow of the lane. When they initiate and when they concede camps.

And if anyone wants to do some practice tri vs tri matches hit me up (not this week cause luna) but I'd love to take any opportunity I have to practice tri v tri :D

I didn't learn how to pull properly until like game 500. I never knew you had to DOUBLE stack to do it well. It took awhile to learn the concept of WHY that was important. These are the kinds of videos and tutorials valve needs to put out. Not just explain how to do it, but explain why.

You don't really have to double stack. Both Radiant and Dire have ways to double pull without a stack (also Centaurs/Wolves can kill a whole creep wave if you deny asap).

Really like the CM buff, you regen mana so fast now. Great one point wonder skill.

Her aura is a relic of the time before mana boots. Her real problem, though is the fact that heroes like CK/Luna/AM/Mag essentially start with boots against her.

3.2 Mana Regen at level 3 though. Her 1 Point in Aura gives her the same effective Mana Regen as Arcane Boots (Which is 2 Mana per second, gives 135 mana, costs 25, so its net 110, 110/55 = 2)

It'd be kinda cool if they gave the aura an active that was essentially mana boots, but disabled the aura for X seconds after using it while it was on cooldown. An AoE Chakra at a price.

But if I'd want anything to be changed, it's definitely her movement speed. Just so slow.

Yeah, but it's only really good for her. Mana boots are significantly better than her aura overall and they don't require skill points (her other skills are actually pretty good).

The aura can make using her ult something you can do without having to go back to fountain constantly, and her ult is great. Should be skilled at some point.

Like Kirby said... It's an excellent 1 point wonder and several teams have already used it to great effect.

I can say with 100% confidence that dota academy is inaccurate because she was picked several times the day after 6.78 was released, which was this week.

And stats or not does not nullify the fact that it's a one-point wonder.

I wouldn't even say it's a one point wonder. Feast is a one point wonder. Blur is a one point wonder. DK stun is a one point wonder. Those 3 skills (along with a bunch of other ones) are extremely good at level 1; leveling them is just a bonus.
