To be fair, the old Diretide was nonstop free hats. There's no way that was sustainable for Valve. I'm ok with there being a battle pass buy-in to getting access to hat windfalls but the in-game challenges have irreparably fucked the game and are the reason I barely play anymore.

Oh God, I have had a "High Skill" game with a Legion Commander jungle who was flaming me from the start for playing Centaur mid.
I was playing versus an Invoker and got ganked twice by the opponent Pudge (the first time with an invisibility rune, since we had no vision of that rune).
Then somehow (sarcasm inside), we win the game with some smart pushes, and my teammates are like "this is the easiest game of my life", and they repeat that a few times...
Somehow oblivious to the fact that this is the kind of games that I have been playing more than 50 times each time I pick Centaur mid. It helps to fight high-ground when towers are already down.
I have got to say the safelane and the offlane were good enough. Space created for them by playing 1 vs 2 mid basically.

I would be happy with that or meet the conditions over three loses or one win and have to finish the game.
To be honest I am sort of fine how it is already. Would be nice if you got an item drop every few quests or so as well. Cannot remember the last time i got a do at the end of a game.
Only way I'll ever finish any of the quests

Can confirm. I had a 5 stack with me and my college buddies matched up against him and his subs once, and we beat him. I checked dotabuff later and found out it was Draskyl and watched the stream archive excitedly.
He whined a lot when he lost.

Also, the best part of diretide wasn't the free hats (though the halloween hats were awesome) but the awesome CTF/Candy-stealing mode. Killing Roshan at the end was dull

I personally think the game was overhyped, even if it was litterally everything that was promised. The product being sold did not look good in my opinion. It lacked a compelling reason to actually play.
I don't remember, but this kind of thinking is what made WoW the game it is today, for bad or good.

The irony that none of you will ever know since we don't play together is I'm at my most zen when I play (pub) Dota. I only ever got mad at the guys I used to play with but we were our own toxic little community that spent years fostering a specific brand of loathing for one another. Now that I've excised them from my life every solo queue game I play I'm like video game Gandhi.
My realization that I suck as a person came from getting a reply to a trolly comment I made on a youtube video of a semi-popular song from the artist himself, or at least whoever monitors his youtube account. Why am I trolling youtube comments? There's no gain from it. I'm just adding to the din. It's not constructive at all and it's not something any rational human should be doing.
