Doug Bowser - "some people...may not be able to afford [the Switch 2's] price point. That's why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available

It seems no one is noticing it but long before people crying about MKWorld's price….Konami already increase their price for Silent Hill f.

😂 You are the one that brought up the irrelevant digital "cheaper" PS5 but sure you can stop bringing Sony up yes.

The price of Switch rose by $150. It has 10x the processing power and a screen with features that none of the other handhelds are doing...for much less than those other handhelds. If you can't afford it, maybe you have other priorities in life you should be worrying about instead of videogames
"It still cost more than the PS4. And didn't Sony recently INCREASE the price of PS5?

The days of a console costing the same as the old console or decreasing in price are long gone. But sure let's just add complaint #35296 to the list. I'm sure tomorrow GAF will find 10 more things to bitch and whine about.
"

??? You started talking about Sony being more expensive. I brought this up? Then you started talking about Sony not having physical media and not owning games.

You aren't an LLM model with low token context. It's not that hard to remember your own reply from a page or so back.

As to the Switch, the conversation was about optics of Bowser's statement as well price discrepancies in different regions. Tell me why Switch in US (before tariffs since according to Bowser tariffs weren't priced in) costs about 20% more vs EU ($ weakness is very recent) and 30% more vs JP.

dont be stupid, the problem isnt the console price, the problem is evertything else

U$ 90 games
U$ 90 Joy con
U$ 50 trash tier camera
paid trash tier online service

How can you guys dont see this is amazing, you guys ll find a way to cope and defend cause if the product its less accessible somehow it has more value ?? if Nintedo lower the game price back to U$ 70 all of this ll end at the same moment.

Arrogant Nintendo pulling a 3DS.

That said, I am more than happy to wait and let them weather the storm. I love MK, but it's no Zelda at launch like the original Switch had.

Lol. Why would anyone be "jealous".

Cyborg Cyborg has just posted a list of valid criticisms.

those aren't measured critiques, they're vibebased doomposting, dressed up as righteous outrage. Concern trolling.

I get some the criticism I really do. But stops being thoughtful consumer feedback and starts sounding like cynical shouting at the sun for being too bright while sitting in the shade with a handheld console.

I don't know why these marketing people haven't learned yet that sometimes it's better to just stop talking instead of attempting to sugarcoat dumb shit with corpo speak.

I know it's been repeated numerous times, but those who don't see a problem fail to get the point of the complaints. On any other platform (PS, Xbox, PC, etc) if a game launches overpriced, a little patience will get it to a price that's easier to swallow. With Nintendo that very rarely happens.

People did complain when others made the move from $60 to $70. You just don't hear about it as much now because those same games are like $20-$30 in a few months time. An $80 Nintendo game will probably still be an $80 Nintendo game years from now. There is no waiting it out.

The console itself is a little overpriced, but I think most have come to terms with that. That single investment is one many can and will deal with, but if you price people out of the games (which is where most of the spending is through the lifecycle of the system) then why even get the console in the first place?

Well I'm glad people are able to benefit from those kinds of subsidies. The people who do will have to wait a bit longer.

Or get some friends and set up a family group so they can all chip in to buy a game and share it for a couple of weeks at a time.

Wtf are you talking about? Moving the goalpost much? I was talking about the price of the console, not software, as was Bowser. Everything costs more. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

No one is forcing you to buy a $1300 cellphone or a $1500 graphics card.

I quoted you because you mentioned a bullshit policy. And that is what Nintendo policy is pure bullshit related to sw.

Obviously no one is forcing me, but I won't play along with bullshit policies like this. Rising prices on subpar games.. And that's what people is most upset about.

This. People are upset that Nintendo focuses mostly on quality, not high end hardware and production. The benefit to them is higher margins and cheaper to make games. Now they want $20-30 more per game just because.

I'm sorry, I'm out.

IMO the complaining is worthless. The only way Nintendo will react is if they suffer financially from this. Otherwise it's all just noise. I don't know what the Nintendo community since I'm not a fan of that ecosystem but if they are ok with it I imagine the device will do well.

"We recognize there are some people that may not be able to afford [the Switch 2's] price point. That's why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available, so [people] still have an opportunity to come into our gaming universe, be a part of these characters in these worlds, and see value, if you will, in whatever rung of the platform they come in."
Don Mattrick is that you? 👀

Nintendo really trying to continue the every other console curse.

Edit: Holy shit his last name is Bowser. The matrix is real and we are in a simulation.

The problem isn't CONSOLE price, if you cant tell the difference of console, games and accessories you shouldn't be in this forum.

The price of the console itself is only fiddy bucks more than I was expecting, but I didn't expect Nintendo to give the other stuff away, either. The Switch itself was a pricey little unit, and it was ancient when it hit the market. I will pay a premium for premium gaming.

Nintendo isn't giving things away, they've been making a lot of money over the years selling games for $70 when the cost of their games is a fraction of the market and now they want to raise the price to $90 when their development cost will still be infinitely lower than other developers, by this logic a R* game should cost us U$ 300 or even more and thats the problem imo.

also you said "i ll pay a premium for premium gaming" when they are selling a U$90 trash tier joy con, U$50 trash tier camera and the worst online service of the tree, this isnt premium.

this video ll summary what Nintendo and their fans looks like imo.

Nintnendo: " if you're not a big baller it's ok just stick with the old one"

I just gotta ask….. So if they continue to support switch 1 does that mean we will be getting cross gen switch games for the next few years? Bad enough they have the weakest platform in terms of power/ performance. But then again maybe that's how so many of their games on switch 2 will be able to run at 4K/60FPS because they were designed on the switch 1….

Sony did that while there wasn't a trade war in the making with crazy tariffs flying around. I don't see why Nintendo can't do that, specially when their first party games won't jump to PC.

The price point of the console isn't the problem. It's the $80 games. They've gotta set the ceiling at $69.99 and just be okay with leaving that additional greedy $10 off the table. Otherwise I think many people will just revolt and only play old games. And also $80 games is the death of new games. It would be a slow death but a death nonetheless. I can't imagine giving Nintendo $80 freaking dollars for a four-year old Kirby game. Or a very minor add-on to last year's Mario Party. Just ridiculous.
I'm 100 percent certain there's a catch here where Sony and Microsoft moving their exclusives onto pc which will definitely put a lot pressure on Nintendo as the inferior platform. I mean seriously, do the math here,

3 consoles $(450+500+700)+7 years subscriptions $(7*(12*10+12*5+12*5))+ accessories $(500+)= $3730 excluding the shitty deals compared to pc.
